I think TW is being purposefully absurd, and the joke is that people actually claim to like it. He IS an incredible song writer and storyteller, but his vocal style is, well, non-existent.

The standard voice he uses is completely silly, as it is supposed to be. The fact that people call it "beautiful" and such would be funny were it not for the sad fact that so many clearly force themselves to like something that is called "cool" by a class of people who are oh-so sure about how different and edgy they are.
