Loving it as this has recalled many joyful memories of Chinese new year when I was young. Will try making it with my girls this year . Gong xi fa chai .
@ccanime36 it's red packet paper (used during chinese new year). I don't see a problem if you were to use normal copy paper... should work just as well :)
Very Cool!! I wish he had a better stapler too though because he really looked like he was having to put an awful lot of effort into it. Beautiful work. Thanks For sharing!!!
Depends on what type of variations you make to the basic pattern, but as a general guide, I think you need at least around 25 - 35 packets... more if your designs are more complicated and your lantern bigger...
i found out that you do not fold the four corners together. You have to fold its so all corners are touching so there wont be holes. I finished mine yesterday thanks for the help =D
You should be able to purchase the paper easily in Chinatowns around the world. Or get some Chinese friends to send you the empty red packets... we have lots of these during Chinese New Year!
@newhollandtours erm may i know how many red packets did you use for completing this whole thing? and how many did you use for de 2nd and 3rd lanterns. and thanks for the video
looks real easy... ... but its not

It's not meant to be lit... you're supposed to just hang it as a decoration...
