Solid wood is heaver and has less flotation. Fiberglass over a foam core is lighter and floats better. Less weight with more flotation equals more speed and maneuverability. I'm a surfer not a skimmer but I believe most if not all the skim boards in this video are fiberglass.

i went to sebastian inlet once for my bday i went there because i used to surf.sebastian inlet is the place to go if you are goin on a surf or skim trip most of the time the waves are 6-12 feet high

lol dont lie. maybe that one time u went it was. i live at the inlet basicallyy and its average is 3-4 feet. good swells would be around 8 feet off the back. great place for skim and surf but dont exxagerate it :)
