Communism aims for a STATELESS society with no hierarchy or private property. Marxists and the like say there is a transitional socialist state before communism, while Anarcho-communists want to go straight to communism.

@dawe606 Problem is.. What did he do? Build the second world economy from nthingless? Defeat the nazis and "save" the world (kinda exaggerated, but you get it)? Thing is most things said about Stalin are lies or overexaggertaions because they are based in nai propaganda (like Holomodor or Katyn) or Cold War propaganda, you know, when he died the party was took by revisionists, so even the USSR disregarded him. Right now the ones who lived under Stalin demonstrate with his image.

Stalinism only difference is it is more nationalist and Maoism is exactly the same as Stalinism except revolutions must be started in the countryside.

@MegaFrogzor I'd say marxism is more liberal than stalinism and maoism... Marxisms goal is to abolish classes in the end, but stalin's and mao's regiemes only replaced the bourgeois class (ruling class in capitalism) with bureaucrats. So there was still a ruling class and workers were still exploited.

THEORETICALLY, communism is pretty good, but in practice, in reality, it can't be - because people ruin any system, no matter how perfect it is, it's in our human nature to destroy, that's the point.

Things will be okay when every individual starts working on himself, because if you change yourself you change the world. BE the change you want to see in the world, because no system will, in practice, and in reality, be perfect and make society better. We can just strive to achieve perfection.

ONE chocolate in the month? Voucher for winter shoes? That is the communism in practice. Always and everywhere. If you don't believe, visit Cuba or North Korea.

@johnnytwice Communism has never existed anywhere. Communism implies a stateless, classless society in which the workers own and operate the means of production, and private property is abolished. Does that sound anything like Poland, Cuba, North Korea, the USSR, or any other "communist nation"? The only thing that has spoiled communism are the leaders and self-appointed "vanguards" who tried to control the revolution for their own means. The closest thing to communism was the Spanish revolution

i have visited cuba and you would be very surprised how popular socialism (not communism) is there none of these countries you named were or are communist, thats just the ultimate goal and it won't happen for a long time (it wont devolope with the current structure either) rationing isn't communism in practice, that is making sure everyone has enough to eat.In poor capitalist countries instead of rationing you know what they have? starvation and exportation of food for profit.

In terms of freedom it could also be way worse, some countries have more freedom than Cuba (oppression is very exagerated in Cuba) but most of the population is to poor to even think of acting on those potential freedoms". A tiny minority of cubans want capitalism, most want reform socialism (although castro is still very popular). you should read Marx before telling us what communism is
