@iownudie108 there are various types of fire extinguishers depending on the fire they are used against. a cylinder filled with powder is useless for aquarium use. U need one that has co2 in it. better yet you need to specifically mention to your extinguisher service provider that this will be for aquarium use as also the type of co2 used (liquid form, whether it contains additives etc.) will make it unfit for aquarium use. make it clear to the guy servicing the cylinder what it is being used for
i used a pump that wasnt very powerful, but i already had it and im cheap. i ended up with more of a bell waterfall, theres lots of agitation though i think it will still work
cool vid..how did you use the old fire extinguisher ??where do i take it to convert it or can i do it myself ???any other pointers would be great too! thanks
I bought the fire extinguisher from from a local fire security company while the co2 regulator from a gas company. I simple explained to the gas company what I wanted and they fitted the cylinder to the regulator. thats it really. the difuser was made mainly because I ended up broke :)
a home made co2 system made out of sugar-yeist and a pressured system doesnt make a difference with respect to the diffuser. The only plus side I see of using a pressured system is that u control the co2 outtake plus u get constant flow.
@xquailx its a one time lump cost. if ur into planted aquaria than I suggest you get it because its saves on the hassle and prevents ph swings when yiest start dying out on you. plus I would suggest making it urself instead of buying it ready from some LFS because it comes a lot cheaper. a fire exhiguisher from some security company shouldnt cost you more then EUR40. the regulator from some gas company is cheaper. the rest is a DIY from scrap I had lying around the house.
Nice reactor, professional looking.

Amazing plant growth, very healthy looking.
How big is your tank litres wise and at what bubble rate do you keep it at?
I have just bought a Co2 system and after over a week it has at last started working the way it should.

@deedlea roughly around 2bps. ye it takes a while to calibrate it the way you want it to work :(

Will this work just as good with homemade Co2?
Could you make a tutorial if it does?
