  • whats the name of the song 00:04 - 00:10

  • Nigeria is one of the most corrupt countries in the entire world. As a matter of fact, I believe they were voted #1 most corrupt country a few years ago (when this was being filmed).

  • Nigeria maybe the next target on their (USA) list?

  • Did she just say wife beater?

  • @lilruc and "dude"

  • wooo this sucks big time and we all are contributing too where are we going to end ???

  • Ooo ooooo I know where the money is going. It's going to the top one percent of politicians

  • damn alot of people there speak perfect english

  • Laura Ling is a fucking dick sucker from the streets of Bang KOK

  • damnit, Mariana is so hot.

plus, she reports important issues, i guess...

  • I worked there and yes the government is mostly to blame. However, the villagers are also known to purposely cause oil spills and then refuse entrance to clean up crews. The bigger the spill, the bigger the pay-out. So the corruption goes both ways.

  • YOU read the warning all AMERICANS should leave and you still went,,,questions (1) if the place was so dangerous why ain't they going home? i'm from the Niger delta region, we have about 85% of the oil workers as Americans and 5% from the other countries.. They render our people poor, they cause all these problems, they pollute our air, they don't obey our country laws,on the streets of port harcourt there are no traffic rules binding the white man..and i keep asking why haven't they left?

  • one day one of these journalists are going to be captured and killed.

  • @RockyShitNigga she was captured in south korea

  • @RadioSilence01 i think u meant north korea.LOL

  • @heomak yea forgot which one

  • In Europe, hundreds years of evil monarchies made the people want democracy - it's culture. In Africa, strong central governments are fairly new, and usually do not support the interests of the people. Only solution:

    1) donating to build schools

    2) situation will improve with time

  • all these people should be well off, instead of a few polotitians with billions

  • my dad was in Nigeria and just after he left his oil rig got taken over by rebels like a month after he left which is kinda scary

  • Oil, Oil, Oil... *sigh*

  • cool song when the militants arrive

  • Stupid gov

  • and we as americans wonder why the world hates us. we should pack up and come home. stay within our borders! would we allow russia or china to come and start drilling in alaska?

  • What a mess !! Terrific report though.

  • Comment removed

  • Just give them a Mcdonalds >.> dollar dollar chicken..

  • @foxyfoxcold863 go to hell idiot,,,i kill you if i know you

  • @Awofaasky thanks

  • Angry itchy ear syndrome !! 06:20

  • did she say laura ling.

    she look like lisa ling.

i juist google her name she is the sister of lisa ling.

    wow

  • Africa can blame a large amount of its problems on its own leaders and warlords.

  • At around 6 minutes, why does the guy in the blue shirt keep tugging his ear? Anyone know what it means?

  • The problems do not come from the oil companies themselves. The problems come from the governments of foreign countries that 1) are corrupted by the money that the companies bring to the country like you see here in documentary. Or 2) they do not regulate how corporations do business in their country because they try to make their country seem attractive to the big companies.

In either case, it is the FAILURE OF GOVERNMENT that causes the problems, capitalism is not to blame here...

  • @jpourkav that is obviously bullshit. Capitalism is an antiquated, exploitative system that's got to be overthrown before any of these things are going to improve. That said, due to Western colonialism Africa's become such a hellhole that nobody really knows what's going to 'help'. Certainly not fucking Bono's narcissistic terror-funding.

  • @HolyFerdinand Bono funds terror?

  • @1Pantikian Yeah, he seriously does. His 'philanthropy' basically just goes back to creating chaos and warlords in those regions of Africa, and I don't even think there's a word to encompass all the horrible shit that happens as a result. He's disgusting, actually. U2 sucks too.

  • @HolyFerdinand hey, thanks for replying, I'll look into that. And yeah, U2 does suck

  • @1Pantikian regarding u2 they are are touring with jayzee currently. They really are crap arent they? They may as well tour with pink.

  • That is just disgusting... i support the rebels...

  • Capitalist exploitation at our finest.

  • Speak-sry:)

  • Americans don't speak American you twit...:| I speach English and French and some Spanish, America has no official language, look on wiki or call a DMV munche la merlde-mama la huevous-fucktard:)

  • Africa has sold its soul!!!send an african to kill an African thats the policy of the west, while they take the natural resources and leave Africa baren.

  • English is the national language of most Afircan countries.

  • @18greens18fairways It is French actually. But english is widely used aswell as afrikan. Americans think they are special that others speak english but it has nothing to usa. Britain had many colonies around the world is why english spread, the same thing with French.

  • @MILLSTREETMED Do you even know the official language of the United States? Your wrong about French that I know! English is the official language of Africa and only an idiot thinks the English language originated in America. You sound pathetic! Get your facts straight, btw I'm not going to argue with you. Go to any search engine to get your facts straight. Yes the official language of America is none! We don't have one or I suppose your going to tell me I'm wrong and it's French.

  • @18greens18fairways no shit dumbass read my statement. It says nothing about usa speaking english u tart. I have worked in much of africa and just returned from the Ivory Coast 50th independence celebration you fucktard. YES the most spoken langs in africa are 1 Afrikan 2 French 3 English 4 Portugese I lived in Mali 2 yrs so I do feel I have the knowledge to comment. Why not try to read the next time before you jump up and reply. Americans speak American not english by the way. :)

  • @MILLSTREETMED My question to you since you know soooo muchhh about Africa is: What is the official language of Sudan (just picked this country at random)? Well it is Arabic & English, no sign of the Afrikan language. In the official description of the country the official language listed is Arabic and English. You will find the English language is the official language of more countries in Africa than the Afrikan language. BTW Americans speak several different languages : )

  • How come they all speak english so well ?

  • @colpeer british coloniasation. thats why also many speak french.

  • @Tahmelapachme err well, that they speak french is because of french colonialisation obviously ;)

  • so much for the BP spill

  • I use to buy Shell not buying from that gas station no more

  • after watching this, i think i wont complain how i have to pay $3 for a gallon of gas. because of my consumption of gasoline these people go hungry.

  • Hy i am from Romania i want to say my ex president of ROMANIA ION ILIESCU in 92 he sell all the ROMANIAN OIL to us company STERLING and OIL for the 100 milion $ :))

i think companies like SHELL they must pay a lot of money to repair the damge from this country shell he almost destroy the country

  • @LuisVuiton first everything is run by Jews and when Jews run things they destroy all your country for phrofit.

    second nobody cares.........

  • lol when vanguard goes sumwhere to do sum journalism sum thing bad always happens when they leave like in From Russia With Hate video from them the dude gets arrested later and 2 ppl where captured and killed

  • they gave oil to children to drink ?! ...what the fuck man :|

  • Mariana is a hotty

  • What is this sheet matha fucka...

  • the horrible housing area that they have reminds me of the part in slumdog millionaire

  • I come from that region. That is the stack reality on ground. There is poverty there admist the so much oil wealth gotten from the region. We are at the mercies of the multinational companies and our corrupt leaders- they employ the principle of kill and divide rule. Disappointing the situation down there.

  • @teflonedonenis I will pray for your family still lost in this mess. Shame on the companies involved and the local governments. there is no reason why Nigeria can't be even more current as a country.

  • I come from that region. That is the stack reality on ground. There is poverty there admist the so much oil wealth gotten from the region. We are at the mercies of the multinational companies and our corrupt leaders.Disappointing and sad the situation down there.

  • more and more

  • What? Africa is corrupt?!? I don't understand.

Liberals and Progressives tell us that the USA is corrupt and that Africa is a rich, vibrant, cultural enclave. I'm shocked! I've learned something new.

  • @LaRazaRacism Much of the world is corrupt. What liberal media are you referring to you stupid retard? Go fuck yourself bigot.

  • That smell is H2S. When you can't smell it ,it is deadly.

  • karma karma karma

  • Wonder what that guy means 6:20 by holding on to his ear when talking. I'm guessing it's a gesture meanning "hear me"

  • i think the US will do its part to overcome CRISIS... but the NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT will play a big role to start stopping this poverty, kidnapping and corruption to NIGERIA... PEACE to all...

  • I'm a huge fan of current and youtube but I'm not feeling this commercial crap! Dont start this shit!!!!!!!!!

  • I'm guessing you're refering to how the video started... with ling basically interviewing them about their experience yeah. you do realize this is season 1 of 3 seasons vanguard has made as of yet... and none of the other episodes(that ive seen) have been like that...

  • The portugese wife beater

  • China will do what the US refuses to do to the area. They will develope this region.

  • Haha, yeah right... China is busy developing itself still. The US has developed areas all around the world, but.... right now, we are spread to thin, and don't have the resources to reach out everywhere.

  • @andli843

the US has all it's resources & manufacturing in China.. well at least we're still leaders in ICT & automobile technology.. oh wait, we sold that knowledge to China also ;) fuck.

imagine for once what we (usa & europe) would be if ALL export from china stopped.. that's right, we'd be seriously fucked. no computers, no phones, no cars, nothing!

  • @ skittb89

I'm not sure why your comment was directed at me, but since it was, I guess I'm forced to take the other side of the argument for the sake of having an intellectual conversation :)

We are still leaders in ICT and automotive technology, as well as many other technology and science fields. Manufacturing is however another case, and due to the cheaper cost of actually manufacturing products in other countries, we've unfortunately move MUCH(not all) of that industry elsewhere.

  • nah it was more to complement your post actually.

  • haha, gotcha

  • That being said, if and when our economic system collapses due to the default of loans to our government from China, our currency is going to crash, and manufacturing will once again return to the US for a short period... as we won't be able to import products in at the costs required. As far as technology or R&D goes though, Israel is by far the leading country in the world as far as research monies spent, amount of research, and published research goes. The US is still ahead of China though ;)

  • The default, and crash of our currency, along with manufacturing returning to the US as a result, and ALSO, the inability of the US and it's companies and peoples to import goods with a de-valued currency is primarily why what I just mentioned won't happen anytime soon. It would be devastating to not only the US, but the entire world, which bases their economies AROUND the US and it's. It's a touchy situation, and once that makes me, and I'm sure others, quite queasy.

  • You can't blame them for protecting what is theirs

  • i hope americans wake up and start caring about people instead of money. this is bad when people become expendable for a profit. it is a travesty of human rights and dignity. deplorable.

  • I hope America starts caring for itself, to preserve the ability to protect others across the world.

  • The US care for no one. And their economy is in serious trouble

  • These Oil Bandit guys vs. the Diamond Guys !!! Helluva concept. Why dont we drop blue and red rags over them with some gangsta rap and watch them start gang bangin' ?

B OnB Violence ensues, crack/heron/meth entrepreneurship's, becoming another one of the CIA playgrounds o' the world. oh o..' did i just think out loud?
