  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME VIDEO! you played a big part in helping me restore my ipod video to the state it was when new!

  • @philatanus7 No problem at all! Great work! Glad we could help

  • hey i replaced the lcd screen with the exact same screen, and it shows up white when it's powered on, any ideas?

  • @miozyne Few things can cause this - wrong LCD (you already ruled that out), bad connection, or faulty LCD screen. I would suggest contacting the seller of the part directly and get some troubleshooting information from them.

  • Hi. I have a serious problem.I have an ipod nano 5th generation. The other day i dropped my ipod and when i picked it up the screen was completely white. So i reset it and the screen went completely black. And now it wont turn on, or reset. Whenever i plug it into the computer or my ihome nothing happens. The computer doesnt read it and the ihome doesnt either. I dont know what to do. At first i thought it might need a lcd screen replacement but when it didnt get reconized i was confused. Help?

  • @KillaWatts10 Yes, that does not sound too promising. Your thought process is correct however. I would suggest disassembling the Nano and checking for damage or loose connections.

  • My 5th gen display broke at some point and began as a gray area at the top while the rest still worked and i could scroll and go on as normal. Eventually the crack in the LCD expanded and nothing showed up on the screen, however it would still light up and i could play music. I got a screen, followed your instructions (which were awesome by the way) and now my entire screen is just white when it turns on. the backlight is still extremely bright, but no words, logos, icons, or anything show up

  • @patrickmc018 Thank you. The issue could be caused by a few different things. The most likely being a bad connection or the wrong LCD screen generation/version. I would double check that the replacement screen is the exact same as your replacement.

  • How much is a new screen tho?

  • @rebeccam2 Check out the current price at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.

  • @RepairsUniverse that is amazing, thanks.

  • @rebeccam2 No problem at all!

  • u sound like ozzy.

  • @Wiedgirls911 Good luck with your repair. Follow the video closely and you should have no issues. Hopefully it resolves the display issues you are having.

  • well heres another question, you know where you attach the LCD ribbon on the mother board. the grey plastic cover that the ribbon slides under? well i ended up chipping a small piece of it. could that be a result that the lcd wont light up? because that ribbon on the lcd is in perfect condition

  • @iverson2k10 It is possible if the "jaw" connector is damaged that the LCD flex is not making a good connection or loose connection, making the screen stay blank. Sadly, there is no easy way to resolve that. I've seen the issue come up before with the iPod Video, they seem to have weak plastic connectors that can sometimes become frail. The only real option i know of is replacing the motherboard, which is usually quite costly.

  • when i went to power on my Ipod 5th gen those no lighing on the screen, even if i raise the brightness full blast it does not adjust, so in order for me to view the screen i need to be in a heavy lighted room or use a flash light in order to view my screen on my ipod

  • @iverson2k10 Ah I understand, usually this is caused by the LCD screen. I would suggest checking the cable and seeing if any visible damage is present, especially around the LCD flex connection. It is also possible the LCD screen has become faulty.

  • U ended up fixing mine, but I lost my Black light and OEM front and back covers, Now im trying to retrace my steps any ideas?

  • @iverson2k10 The front and back covers should be easily replaced. RepairsUniverse (dot) com has many of these parts for the Video 5th gen. As for the "black light," what exactly are you referring to?

  • Replacing the screen like this won't wipe any of the data will it? Will all my music and videos be just how they were?

  • @xxAnimexIsxLovexx Replacing the LCD screen will not erase or damage any saved data on your iPod. Only replacing the hard drive will do this.

  • great video!

  • @Intelpentium54321 Thanks. Glad it helped!

  • I had an iPod, but my dad accidentally cracked the screen, and I got a 4g one like in April, and today I tripped, and the screen chipped from the side! :/ So I'm getting a new screen, but can I get it done from some place??

  • Hi. I was wondering, if you answer, how hard do you have to pry for the iPod open and how do you know when clips are releasing. Please if you can help it would be much obliged.

  • I used this tutorial to replace the screen on my classic 60g. Worked like a charm...some of my clips on the side are broken though from age, so it isn't as tight as new but the horizontal lines are gone! Much less expensive than buying a new Ipod classic!!! Thanks!

  • thank you so much, after a significantly huge struggle, i pulled apart my 6th gen classic and simply disconnected and reconnected the ribbons to solve my white screen problem. thanks again.

  • Hey thanks for the video, but I have a question. I just replaced my cracked screen with a brand new one, but it doesn't show the apple signs or when I connect it to the computer. I know the iPod still works because I connect it and iTunes picks it up. Whats wrong with the screen?

  • @km13productions try unconnecting and reconnecting all of the ribbons inside the ipod, not just the screen's one. this solved my problem, hope it helps

  • Thanks alot Rockstar1376! :P

  • No, the 5th Gen and 6th Gen screens are different. You can find both on the RepairsUniverse (dot) com web site.

  • hey Repairs Universe, or anyone else who sees this, I am getting a 6th generation ipod classic with a broken screen, will replacing the screen be much different from this procedure?

    Thanks

  • The classic is very similar.

  • ive done all this and it works but i cant charge the ipod for some reason, it is plugged into the wall socket and the 'sad' screen appears, the apple logo appears then the battery is low screen, then the sad screen appears again and it all starts again. how do i fix this? do i need a new battery?

  • You may have something connected up wrong when putting the iPod back together. I would check all connections again first.
