Thanks Eon. We're amateurs (as you might have guessed!) so you're advice is gratefully received. I will check with Canon as to whether a polarising filter is available.

Tip for the future: When shooting video at sea, fit a polarising filter to the camera - it will cut the glare and allow you to see into the water.
