@dawhitecastle The cam was definitely worth it. This was a long time ago tho. I've went from autotragic, to fully built and boosted 5 speed. With the cam and kpro, it was somewhere around 135 whp. What other mod's do you have besides what I had? Cause there's not much more n/a power mods besides a pnp job.
@02civicrider EX Sedan 02': Injen CAI, DC Headers, GReddy Evo 2 exhaust (taken off now for a flowmaster), straight pipe(no cat) (also taken off now), AEM Pulleys, Throttle body spacer, better spark plugs, 7 lb. Fidanza Flywheel, stage 1 Exedy Clutch, DC Short Shifter, Brembo slotted disc brakes, Enkei 15" 10 spokes (grey with chrome lip), progress rear lower tie bar.
@dawhitecastle You don't have to.. I was just saying with kpro it felt like it made that much more... It's not a requirement unless you go stage 2/3 cam.
@02civicrider Oh no I know, but I am wondering if it is worth the money without the KPro. Did you have it in without KPro at any time or did you do them together? Also read on a forum that it is kinda useless (the cam) withouth the cam gear to tune it with..thoughts?
@02civicrider 135hp after all that work ?! stock dx/lx made 115hp the EX model made 127 and the SI made 160 . . . should've just bought the next model up ?
Stg 1's can be run without tuning (stock ecu) It's the stg 2 or 3 that I want to know if there's anything other then Kpro that they can be tuned with. Has anyone chipped the stock ecu that you know of?
You can get the flashpro from hondata.com.... yes i know they have the kpro but they also make the flashpro or something similar to that for the d17 motor...check it out and correct me if i'm wrong....(i have not taken this route yet)
@jjmchuy05 I see, well I'm mostly looking for cheap alternative to AEM, Or hondata for N/A setup for the D17a2. I couldn't find a whole lot on Honda-tech for the D17
you should go back to honda-tech.. try gettin a hold of this guy named yoyomatt84...he's the guy to go to for anythin involving an em2/es1... he's knows his stuff but i can almost guarantee you that he'll tellyou not to get your hopes up with that stock engine....the d17a2 does not respond very well with bolt on parts...but for sure, talk to him...;00
@jjmchuy05 Thanks, yea I'm not. If I do anything I'll go K. I just figured by now someone out there would have something new by now that doesn't cost 1,000 or more
@jjmchuy05 - you do realize thats to the crank right? If you put it on a dyno you'll see these cars put down stock around 90 whp. I hit 125 to the wheels. If you want to get technical about it, it was probably putting down around 150 to the crank.
@renarudo1 - 185 which was cost for the cam. Install I did myself and no tune. This is all on stock ecu. It put down 125 whp and 106 wtq on a dyno dynamics dyno which reads low. I ran this cam with kpro for a few months on a modified base map I tuned and it was putting down somewhere around 135 whp.
Crower cam don't sale in Japan.

that looked like about a 9 second 0-60...I have a few more mods than you, but not the cam and my best 0-60 is 7.1.... the cam worth it?

@02civicrider hmm, do you think with the stage 1 cam, a tuned cam gear and a good tune will provide me any benefit?

@bey0nd01 I was making 135 whp. Go stick a stock one on a dyne and you'll see about 90 whp.
02civicrider 2 months ago
did you notice any difference with this cam?....considering it.
dawhitecastle 5 months ago
Kpro is the only hondata system that will work on the d17. Stock ecu can't b chipped and piggyback won't work. So hondata is your only bet.

@mwdi - are you referring to just the cam or the whole build?
Just cam I got it for 185 shipped used with only 5k on it.

Well done. Those are some pretty decent all motor gains.
