  • Listen to Kansas, Rob. I think the closest they ever come to the Pachelbel Canon chords are in "Nobody's Home."

  • Watch "Coolio - I'll C U When U Get There" and try not to laugh :-)

  • They are PED STATE!

  • One of my former music teachers was a cellist and she told us about this one time where she was asked to play with a bunch of awesome musicians and they were worried that she didn't have the music with her--until she pointed out that she played the same 8 notes the whole time.

  • 0:56 THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!

  • Pachabell, Pachabell, I'll see you in hell.

  • u said it man! we did that in orchastra and i play cello, that part pissed me off!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL :D I was lucky to play the violin part, but I feel your pain! :D

  • 1783 girls plays the cello...

  • As if people are going to sit there and pick out the wrong things in his bit.. Get a life Internet and enjoy it for the fact that it's damn funny.. I'm a classically trained musician, but I didn't sit here and pick out musical imperfects.. Gets life

  • First he said quarter notes. then he said eighth notes. Theyre half notes.

  • @carmelawashere he did say quarter notes, but the second time around, that i believe you're talking about, he said "we repeated those eight notes 54 times." eight notes. not eighth notes

  • @carmelawashere actually, that all depends on how it's written. I've seen canon in D written all three ways.

  • Johann Pachelbel is a Baroque artist hes wrong about classical music. no offense to him :D

Yes I'm a music and history nerd :)

  • @Lagomaster24 Go to 4:04 dude. He knows it's in the Baroque Era. The Baroque Era was from 1600-1760 and it transitioned into the Classical Era 1730-1820. There's a place in the middle where the Baroque Era overlaps into the Classical Era, darling. ;)

Either way, HILARIOUS guy he is. :) Clever too.

  • @Lagomaster24 Well the Baroque era ended around the mid-1750s, close to when this piece was written. Although Pachelbel is labeled as a Baroque artist, Pachelbels Canon is definitely more Classical than Baroque

  • @SharpWalkers talk about getting yr knickers in a twist......

  • Yay more people are under attack by pachelbels. I say we should boycott it!!!

  • 3:37 Blues Traveler does have the song called 'Hook' which does sound like it a bit.

  • i love this ive been looking for this video for years, every musician that feels like they have writters block should watch this they will laugh and write a new Pachelbel cannon in D lol ive done it (unintentionally). funny vid sir see you on VH1's i love the 1790's

  • I play the cello too....Its alot better than the Second Violins XD

  • I laugh my fycking ass off every single time I watch this video! xDDDDDD

  • so funny

  • LOVE IT

  • Lmfao. Love itt! VH1's I love the 1790's....ahahahaha

  • VH1's I love the 1790s lol more like the 1690s or something...

  • Did you know you can sing the Burger King jingle to Pachelbel's Canon in D? It really helps- especially if you are a 'cellist (or a former cellist.) It's a wedding nightmare!

  • so many jokes lmfao

  • a chello what about a double base???

  • @Sgtcheesecake1 it's spelled cello and double bass.

  • d a b f# g d g a

  • That was hilarious!

  • As a cellist who occasionally plays weddings, it is my responsibility to count all the tramp stamps on the bridesmaids as they proceed slowly up the aisle to my endlessly-looped 8 freakkin' notes. I'm then required to give an accounting to the rest of the quartet, as they are too busy to look up from their endless, noodling prattle.

Gawafullest piece of pseudo-music written in the past 300 years.

    Rob is my hero.

  • @Zillacello God, I hate tattoos and tramp stamps. The other night Mark Wahlberg was on Letterman talking about getting all of his removed (30 treatments already.) Hope it's a trend! I'm tired of seeing people who look like bathroom walls in bad neighborhoods.

  • @Zillacello Pseudo-Music? Do say you are joking. Else you have the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, hating on a classic piece of music because of the bassline? disregarding all other beautiful parts? A bass-line that was never intended to be played by cello's to begin with? Ridiculous.

  • You missed one.

    Coolio, "I'll C U When U Get There"

  • Funny thing... his first name IS Johann

  • So the 'D' in 'Canon in D' stands for Dickhead?

  • "He once dated a cellist, and she dissed him really bad, so for the rest of his life he came up with the worst cello parts he could ever think of." Looks like Pachelbel held a grudge...

  • I really like it, but what the hell means giger? or geeger? what does it mean???

  • priceless!

  • someone has pachebel issues

  • i luv pachebels canon ^^

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome! This is so funny and true. As much as I love Canon in D this made me laugh very hard. Good job!

By the way, you forgot Valley of the Damned by DragonHeart/DragonForce, the chorus is essentially Canon in G. :-D

  • i play the trombone for my band class, and we play the same damn notes over and over! the song is pretty, though.....

  • Taco bell's Canon in D...

  • Played this in 8th grade for my orchestra on the cello, and he's pretty damn right. My orchestra teacher, who is a cellist had even said "Sorry" to me whenever we played this song because it's so damn boring!

  • Comment removed

  • Lol soo true XD

  • At my father's wedding about a month ago the organist played Canon in D and all I could think was "Suckitinsuckitinsuckitin if you're Anne Boelyn or Rin Tin Tin! Make a desperate move and then you're in! Ahhdadadada DAA dadaDA dedadadadada!"

Pachelbel follows me too and I don't even play cello. =\

  • @TerpinSaxt ROFL

  • 1779 people are immune to laughter and music

  • what chords is he using

  • @ScottFoley21 He tells you in the video

  • Johann Pachelbel is best known for the Canon in D, the only canon he wrote – although a true canon at the unison in three parts, it is often regarded more as a passacaglia, and it is in this mode that it has been arranged and transcribed for many different media.

  • @raiseagpk37 I know this, because I'm a geek. ^^

  • @LdB76 Nah, he just copied that straight off Wikipedia.

  • I totally know how you feel!!!!!! Darn you Pachelbel! What did that cellist chick ever do to you?

  • i heard the Christmas canon and went zomg it does fallow you

  • very funny!

  • I loved playing it but Im a mallet player so it's different

  • classiiiic

  • Just to clarify. A quarter note is a crotchet right?

  • @limetang What?

  • @limetang yep

  • @MrWalrus81 Ah thanks. Wasn't sure but I thought it would be.

  • @limetang Yep.

  • The amount of overlap between this bit and the Axis of Awesome 4 chord song shows that either the latter are thieves (this video is three years older than the oldest instance of AoA) or great ideas tend to find similar inspirations.

  • @SimuLord I think that it's just a very obvious idea, so it's not surprising that two separate people would come up with it independently.

  • I love Pachelbel's Canon. Good thing I'm a mallet player! lol

  • I came here to try and get away from Pachelbel's Canon in D, thinking no way a comedy show will have it. Thanks.

  • f# xD

  • Make a search "Sopivasti lihava" :-)

  • I'M ON THE SAME BOAT. MY LIFE IS HELL, THANKS, PAKABELL

  • This is genius

  • if its not baroque dont fix it lol

  • His first name was actually Johann. Rob was correct

  • @31415equalspi he was being sarcastic, comic sarcasm is generally common

  • @31415equalspi dammit you beat me to it :(

  • @31415equalspi ...That was the joke.

  • @31415equalspi You don't say :)

  • @31415equalspi

He knows. He was being sarcastic.

  • @DrStrangefate He's a comedian. No shit.

  • @TZJiang1

Someone didn't pay attention to the comment I was responding to.

  • @DrStrangefate Um. Actually I did. OF COURSE HE KNOWS. he fucking planned it.

  • @31415equalspi Of course he and us 10,000,000 viewers already knew that

  • @bwsuperstar274 I was just trying to get top comment taking advantage of everyone knowing

  • This cellist feels exactly the same way. Every cellist I have ever known hates Pachelbel's Canon. Loathes it. We contemplate suicide when we are forced to play it. Then we contemplate homicide ... killing our damn music director who forced us to play damned Pachelbel's Cannon.

  • @funnyhaha71 Yep. I'm also a cellist. One time, my orchestra played it. Everyone was thrilled except the cellists. We cellists called it Pachelbel's Circle Jerk owing to the incredibly repetitive motion on our end.

  • @mwadams1 LOL! I am totally stealing that!!

  • in :5 :6 :7 that opening is from a creed song i just dont know which one any help :)

  • @101FNC One Last Breath aka Six Feet From the Edge

  • Man this thing just never gets old. Makes me crack up every time.

  • Life fucking hates you bro.

  • Awsome, but i only know the name of the 4:30 song

  • SNOWFLAKES!!!

  • @Sonicstriforce You just made my day!

  • @TheMrJuavo ;)

  • @Sonicstriforce what the heck

  • @dragom626 during winter you can have snowflakes during the video

  • Itz my fav classic song of all time! No matter how much it repeats I still love this song! I live playin it on the piano though it soundz beautiful! I think Pachelbel made this piece for me cuz he knew I'd love his song...haha jk :P

  • Hey, what are the names of all the songs he played? (other then canon in D of course)

  • @themadscientistIT They're listed at the Wikipedia entry for Rob Paravonian

  • thumbs up if you play bass and are jealous of the cellos amazingly exciting part

  • I love this.

  • He changes the chords. It's a famous 8 chord progression and by the end it becomes the most common 4 chord progression in the world.

  • oh my god finally! Pachabel's cannon is great, but you seriously want to kill yourself after four minutes of playing the same eight notes over and over. The worst part is that you have to keep time for everyone else, so if you do fall asleep or commit suicide during the performance then it all falls apart.

  • @MsSeeingdouble God, I know! I hate it when bored musicians kill themselves on stage, it upsets the whole song!

  • @MsSeeingdouble it sucks when theres 3 of you and one gets lost

  • @MsSeeingdouble thats make you the most important in band :)

  • His name is Johann.

  • @eilyk7 That's the funny part

  • A comedian that can play guitar. Is always cool

  • Comment removed

  • Yep, his first name *was* Johann...

  • My favourite piece is PAchelbel's Canon -_-

  • FUUUUUUCK now I have to look for TheSPORTYChick123's comment.

  • VH1 "I LOVE THE 1790s"

  • for 10,000,000 + it had better be good LoL

  • This should be on rantr lmaooo

    for those who dont know...

    Rantr.co .cc

  • lol

  • What was earlier, this rant, or the 4 chord song?

  • haha his first name really is johann

  • @MagnificMe that's what makes it funny. duhhh

  • God, even the moving violin parts are boring as hell.

  • OMG

  • Welcome to the black parade by MCR should be included

Well, the start of it anyway

When I was a young boy...

  • He forgot Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger. Oh well, I guess because he's american.

  • @powerlester Or maybe because he can't play every song sampling canon in d. just saying...

  • This guy has much to learn about ranting from Mr. Resetti. Resetti is the true king of rant. Resetti shall make you OBEY if it KILLS him. Now if you excuse me, i have to take a potato chip with my left hand (AND EAT IT) and bash moles with my right.

  • wow this is definitely elevated humor

  • so i first heard this from a marine when i was deployed in afghanistan and i will have to say he totally did it way better in funnier than you did

  • @krk1990 Marines fking suck

  • @krk1990 He stole it from this guy, retard.

  • Brought Here to this Amazing video by my music teacher, Mr.Goring

  • OK well my substitute orchestra techer said to look at this so...

  • I didn't know Clive Owen plays guitar :D

  • OH MY GOD!

HOW MUCH IS THIS THE BEST VIDEO IN THE WORLD :DDDD

  • someone please tell me what song is 3:40?! please

  • @ImNo1ButMe the blues travelers one or the Green Day one?

  • @ImNo1ButMe Blues Traveler - Hook, followed by Green Day - Basket Case

  • Wow! The only viral video thats viral for the right reasons :)

  • I only had to repeat it 13 times. Still sucked. And I'm a bass. ;)

  • LOL XD that was SO FUNNY!

I've been trying to play those chords.../

  • in the end he sounds like shaggy from scooby doo

  • @randomchick2092 you are so right!

  • @totallotrnutter, no, he got lucky and got an INTERESTING cello part. One song I played in 8th grade was just quarter notes of open A

  • @TheSasdf The problem is that when you're putting music together, it's often not wise to get very busy with the lower parts, otherwise you'll take attention off the melody and muddle the song. This isn't true in some musical genres (Funk obviously has very prominent basslines), but it generally is for classical. So, even though the simple parts in the lower register are very important and absolutely necessary, they're extremely boring to play.

  • Heya totallotrnutter

I am so busted if my dad cs my account

  • actually, believe it or not that's what most cellos get in orchestras.

  • I heard "I Don't Wanna Wait" by Paula Cole the other day, and Pachelbel was hiding in that too.

  • @BillMonarch he's hiding in everthing.....

  • We actually watched this in orchestra

  • i think its funny that people send him videos of CANON IN D do ya think he's sick of it yet?

  • @physcokitty101 just a little bit xD

  • I originally saw this the first time I was on YouTube, three years ago. It was hilarious then as it is now, but it's also enlightening. Now, every time I hear a song with Pachabel's Canon in D as influence, I can hear it. Yeah. Green Day uses it a lot. Like, A LOT.

  • Gotta admit i am second violin and i laughed at that little dig about us also i never liked canon in d either way overplayed as a bride i'd rather go to the alter to the star wars throne room theme from the end of a new hope.

  • why is green day always the go-to punk band. get some NOFX or suicide machines goddammit!

  • LOL..hhaa..i cant bellive, if pachelbels play like him..

  • also, Canon in D uses the Four Chords. Its spread furhter than you think.

  • I apologise, good sir, but his name is actually Johann

  • 1. Steal theme from a composer who lived a long time ago.

    2. produce a cheap variation

    3. blame the composer

    4. PROFIT!

  • @pwnz0rz0r Lol. so true!!

  • @pwnz0rz0r they should steal more bach :-)

  • @pwnz0rz0r Its not stealing. You can't steal classic music like you can't steal classic stories. You wouldnt say Disney stole from the Grim brothers.

  • @gypsiecat1 don't tell a underpants gnome how to make a plan!

  • @gypsiecat1 I would :\

  • @pwnz0rz0r He didn't STEAL it... mainly because he said it was by Pachelbel. If you STEAL something, you give no credit to that theme.

And this is the same idea as Axis of Awesome, no reason to hate on him for making something funny.

  • @TheRealBarnez /wiki/Joke

  • his first name is Johann... LAWLZ!!

  • Wow that sounds really nice on an acoustic!

    Must learn nao! :p

  • And then this guy was molested by Sandusky. Too soon?

Hilarious bit on music theory though.

  • I wish this guy hummed the entire Canon in D, loves his voice.

    GOD, I love this video!
