Hey the dash looks awesome! But I was wondering how do u control the air conditioning and heat? I have a g8 gt and wanted to install an ipad but i was worried about having to remove the factory screen that displays the ac and heat controls. Any suggestions?
@yoshster69 if you do a search for HVAC controls for the G8 you will find a small screen with the controls on it for around $400. However, mine are accessible from behind the bottom of the ipad and I didn't really need to get that screen. The whole original unit is sitting behind my IPAD, so I didn't relocate it or disconnect anything.
@WilliamKurt THANK YOU!!!!! U HAVE NO IDEA HOW PSYCHED I AM ABOUT THIS!!!!! May be the all caps gives u some idea but take that and triple it and thats how excited I am about this product!!!! I can finally do all the interior work Ive been planning! Thanks man I appreciate it!!!
also do you know why some gauges are jumpy rather than fluid, ive seen some videos and they are perfect and fluid and others that the gauges are jumpy. how far is ur wifi device away from the ipad
The Wifi isn't the reason the gauge is jumpy, it's the software. I reformatted the IPAD and the needle isn't jumpy anymore. Actually if you look at the digital readouts in the video they are smooth and running in realtime, it's the analog dial that seems to be lagging. It's the 6.0 with upgraded heads, cam, valve springs, exhaust, underpulleys, intake manifold and OTR.
@WilliamKurt yea i agree the only ones that seem to lag/jumpy are the analog gauges but honestly thats the one i want for a center gauge. and the jumpyness turns me off but i guess if that will be my only complaint cant beat it.
hey there , great job u have done on ur ride , A + ..... quick question , whats is the Application's name and where did u get the PLX device from ? i got the Commodore VE ( Lumina SS in Dxb as well )
I got the PLX device through Shop & Ship off the web. If you do a search you will find it. It cost's around $150 from memory. It will work on your car. If you go through the local forums you will find me. PM me and I can help you with it.
Dashcommand has better features and a lot of flexibility when it comes to choosing different dashboards. The feature of reading and clearing codes also works really well. The only downside is that it is sometimes a little unstable and you need to restart it.
The overhang helps a little with the glare. Thanks for the comments. I need to still resolve the volume issue, I'm thinking about a bit one, but an alternative is to get a module that would allow me to control the Kenwood from the steering wheel.
This is a smart da*n solution! Everyone is trying to get iPad's installed without a head unit but it's needed if you want quality audio. I'm thinking about this a lot more now. I have an old clunky DDX8019 installed in a 02 Passat. Putting that in a glove box would be idea but maybe I could just place a modded dash in front of it.
The AC blowing the back of the iPad is really genius especially in a scorching climate like Dubai. Does that overhang help with the glare?

You need to buy the wireless kIWI PLX device or something similar. You can begin by downloading the REV software lite version - it has a list of compatible devices under settings.

1st 3 cars you see are Ferrari, Lamborghini & Bentley. Then a demonic looking black Clubbie. I'd be a kid in a candy shop walking into that car park.
iPad dash fitment is 1st class. Well done, in particular with the accessibility of it & the air con doubling as a cooling system.
