@Thalia324 This movie is about the romance between Muslim Mughal emperor Akbar the great (played by Hrithik Roshan), and Hindu Rajput Princess Jodhabai who becomes his wife(played by Aishwarya Rai) . Back then it was unusual and unfair to marry with a person who didn't have a same religion as you and since there was a fight going around with Hindu and Muslim it was unfair to Jodhaa to marry Akbar.

If a Rajput marries a Muslim and a Mughal at that, In other words if they were to change their religion from hinduism to any other; then, the rajput will not be allowed to eat from the same plate as the household. In short. All ties must be cut.! Thus they considered, when it it comes to that, where their pride as Rajputs is lost either through their land or religion,it is better death than to live!
