You know what. I don't get all the fascination with Darren Hayes. Sure he has a great voice but IMO the true appeal of savage garden is the awesome guitar work and song writing of Daniel Jones. Savage Garden's first album was epic because they were about writing great songs. Th more people got in Darren Hayes ear and told him how awesome he was the worse his music got. Also who gives a fuck if he's gay. I couldn't care less if hes a communist pedophile in the end its about the music.

He and Daniel wrote this music together, totally as a partnership. Because his music has changed doesn't make it worse in my opinion. It would have changed anyway, even if SG had stayed together, because that is natural progression. People grow. His new album due out soon may be more to your liking. Don't give up on him.
@Valcurdra Im pretty confident to say that it was more synth driven pop music than guitar driven rock...he was no jimmy page or edge anything like that not sooo talented....yes he had talent and was a great song writer with darren at his side but the melodies were very simple and that is why they were so catchy and successful with the majority...to the moon and back was probably a great guitar track and gunning down romance was good but most of it was synthesized

'You moved me in a way that ya never know' - the pills move D's bowels, releasing him physically & psychically. Yet, this becomes a dependency, ultimately 'consuming' poor D, illiciting a rage fueled LOVE/HATE dynamic towards the very substance that both frees him & enslaves him to savage farts!
Yes Darren's relationship with laxatives is no secret on the Aussie rock scene. ive heard tales from roadies who worked with the garden on their tours that would shock your eyelids. One said it was a nightmare & inspiration to work with D while he was intoxicated with EX-LAX. he recounted that D sharted in the middle of 'to the moon and back' on the Japanese leg of their 2000 tour. the smell was truly vile & the shit poured out of the ankle of hsi leather pants but he kept rocking the crowd.

It wasn't until his tragic accident involving XLAX, baked potatoes, 12 hits of E & a BMW that B's problems came to light. Chilling!

@ferretsshadow What do you mean it sounds off? Are you talking about the live versions not sounding the same as the original recordings. If so, I think that's part of what people pay to go see. You want the live show to be a little different from the CD, though just as good. And I think he achieves this. Sometimes, in Darren's solo shows he has in fact used recorded backing tracks of his voice and this works well, but it still sounds different from the CD, which I think it should.

@ferretsshadow That's because when they recorded their songs he did all the backing vocals. It's a bit hard to do your own backing vocals when singing live.

@hayesfantasy yup but it sounds off when you do that XD so he should of done one of two things: a) hire a second vocalist and stop laying his voice b) have it that part recorded to and have it play while he's singing on stage, it'd be pretty hard at first but he should be able to be able to keep it in sync

@ferretsshadow What do you mean it sounds off? Are you talking about the live versions not sounding the same as the original recordings. If so, I think that's part of what people pay to go see. You want the live show to be a little different from the CD, though just as good. And I think he achieves this. Sometimes, in Darren's solo shows he has in fact used recorded backing tracks of his voice and this works well, but it still sounds different from the CD, which I think it should.

This is like a cross between grunge metal (staind) and pop (micheal jackson). If I hadn't listened to this song and you told me that was the case I would probably think it was ridiculous. But this is just fantastic music, very intense and very chill at the same time. Perfect blend of styles
