1. It's back in NYC off-Broadway at New World Stages, a in the same building as Avenue Q. 2. Shows close, shows open, shows end their runs too fast, shows stay on for too long (I'm talking to you, Phantom). RENT had a pretty great run all things considered.

CollinsLuvsAngel, your interpretation of the differences between the tours and a Broadway production are not accurate. Particularly with Rent, many actors went from one of the tours to the Broadway production and then often back to a tour again. This has always been the case, and there is nothing less PROfessional about the actors in the tours.

Point being? I personally I am not a fan of Anthony Rapp if your saying the show didn't close because you just saw it. You saw the tour cast. There is no longer a company in New York City on Broadway (which there was for one for 12 up until almost a year ago on Sept 7, 2008 when they ended it)

I didn't, I just am a theatre nerd who get's riled by people who try to correct me about theatre, normally for a production there is this New York company (which is high end and stays at one theatre for years at a time and is very perfession) than the tour company (less high end and less perfessional and moves from theatre to theatre all over the USA so people who can't get to NYC can see it). And sometimes after the NYC company stops, the tour company will still keep going. You saw the tour. :)

@CollinsLuvsAngel You're right about the long-running NY production being separate from the tours, but it's a common myth that tours have lower standards than those of Broadway--not true for most Equity tours these days. I've been to over 100 perf. of 40 different musicals from L.A. to N.Y. and London, and the national tour casts and productions always match their Broadway/West End counterparts in quality and scale. However, what you speak of was true back in the 60's thru early 80's.

I'm sad that RENT closed on broadway. I'm double sad because this Sunday my RENT is closing. I'm apart of the first youth cast and it's was so hard to RENT go on broadway let alone let it go out of my life forever.

Theres bound to be a revival in a couple of years. Every legendary show that leaves, always comes back with a revival. Only thing that sucks about revivals is that they change costumes and sets which ends up being stupid, hence the revival of Sweeney Todd :(

They are on the tour, but Adam was out last week with a hurniated disc and he may not be back, not saying I heard that, but it depends on the severity of the injury. I got to see them and Gwen and the rest of the cast in Durham and Charlotte and was blown away! It was my 1st and 2nd time attending. I am going on August 2nd to the final US show. :)
