I just got back from the caymans. We visited stingray city. The fear of these animals is ridiculous. The whole time they'd swim among you and let you touch and feel them. You could even hold them in your arms and they didn't even care. They were probably one of the most docile animals I've ever come across. They were one of the coolest things I've ever experienced. They're only dangerous if you accidentally step on them. It's not like they're constantly leaking poison or something stupid.

No, they just swim by you. They're extremely gentle and sweet. Where I went to swim with them, they just wanted something to eat. You have to threaten them for them to want to sting you.

if you go to Barbados and go to Ocean PArk you can swim and feed the stingrays i did it is so much fun i recommend it !! :D

Been here 3 times. They hear the boat motor and you just see a huge mass of black in the clear water heading your way. You hold frozen squid on your open palm in the water, and they sort of glide over your hand and suck up the squid. They are so rubbery. Never saw them as dangerous. Stingray City is in the Cayman Islands. Awesome diving till the last 2 hurricanes

OK. But one more thing. Steve Irwin wanted attention and ratings. I live in S. Florida. Lots of HUGE rays and manatees (saw a mama and calf last year right next to a TriRail station) and I don't jump in and hug them. I leave them be. Muckin' with wild ones can kill or sicken or injure us AND them. So who's more wise and loving with critters, me the joker, or Steve the Crocodile Imprisoner?

Been there! Done that and it was very Cool! A Guy jumped in and collected Conk Shells. He was under for what seemed like forever! I guess thats what comes of growing up there.

Then Capitan Lee made a dip from Conk shells and then he tossed the left overs in for the Rays.They reminded me of weird shaped slimy kittens!We have a pic of one pulling me along while I held onto his wings!Great Video that brought back good memory's! I would recomend it to anyone.

It was terrible that Steve Irwin was killed by a sting ray but it was an extremely rare case.

Sting ray's normally would not kill a human, it was just the very small chance of where it hit him.

You can buy fillets, or eat them fresh off the cut.

Fry it in batter, and add some lemon juice, and serve with your choice of dipping sauce.

Or, you can make burgers with the filletes.
