Found this song by listening to daniel's all Children of Bodom solo's. This original lives heavily from Klaus Meine's incredible voice while COB's version from Alexi's incredible guitar shredding. Both are great there own way. I like COB's more but Scorpions deserve the credits for composing it ...
@msscobhc1 CoB used to be my favorite band during my adolescence, but I never liked their cover. Musically is great, even if I prefer the 70sh Hard & Heavy sound, but the vocals are really terrible. It isn't even a scream, it is like if Laiho was hoarse and lost his voice, while H&H high-pitched falsetto voice is amazing. The cover's chorus is really awful, one of the worst things I've ever heard in my life.

I think few things are more mainstream than late Children of Bodom, Alexi sold even his own ass. In those cover he can't scream, he's got no voice. And his latest vocals sounds like a puke more than a scream.
Not everything that doesn't scream is mainstream, learn listen to some real music, like that from 60s to 80s are, and tell me what really earns that hipster term, boyo.
@hatecrewify Actually, yeah, Alexis vocals have been pretty bad until recently. This is mainly because of the style of vocals he does. He's said himself that he never knew how to perform them correctly, and that he used to have to run to the side of the stage during the guitar solo to vomit because he was tearing up his throat. That style of vocals is very difficult, and contrary to popular belief, is not "just screaming."
@jeleopard Children of Bodom has less to do with Black Metal than Avril Lavigne does. You can talk about "quintessential black metal screams" with Dani Filth, definitely not with Alexi. Maybe he was closer to black vocals with IneartheD (but even there with growls and not screams), but surely not with Follow the Reaper's Children of Bodom. In don't stop at the top and hellion he just sounds like someone with throat ache trying to growl. Nothing more, nothing less.
@DeadbeatDuder Dani Filth is a fine example of what black metal isn't. While COB has nothing to do with black metal, Alexi's screams come much closer to the real article.

The CoB cover has more "punch" to it and a higher tempo, which has my personal preference. Both the original and the CoB cover are great songs, it's just an opinion based which one you'd prefer.
SCORPIONS will for ever be my best band, I play guitar because of Mathias Jabs and I love guitars so much, they are my mom and dad who I respect and love, I saw them so many times and I will remember them for ever!!! thanks guys you rock my world!!!

I was 2 years old when this song came out. I literally grew up listening to this album and band in general. This is a phenomenal song!!! Brings back so many good memories. Just when I feel life crashing down.... I can play this song and every weight just lifts off!! I love the scorpions for the music they brought to life!!!
In my opinion everything by the Scorpions has been well done and definitely worth listening to ...But there is an ascending order of Albums that Showcase why they Are Hands Down # 1 Metal Band Ever...Love drive...Animal Magnetism...Blackout...and Love at First Sting...Blackout was the Best Album but Love at first Sting gave them Notoriety and Commercial Success but Still was not a Sellout by any Means it was just more broadly appreciated by the masses. I Lived it and Trust Scorps Prime those 4!
I think it makes a difference wich band you like more (the original or the band that made a cover of it) and which version you heard first. For example I like Scorpions, Judas priest and Iron maiden a lot, but songs like "Die with your boots on" by Iron maiden (covered by Sonata arctica), "Starbreaker" by Judas priest (covered by Arch enemy) and this one (covered by Children of Bodom) just seem lamer than the covers.
Matthias Jabs plays a very pretty, cool guitar with his wah pedal - sounds so erotic (copulating-cats-under-the-balcony-sound, says my female neigbour, harharhar), that's classic summer hardrock...even for the dancefloor of my hardrock disco "Grünspan", we never forget you, Wetterfeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeld...
Of course that i always loved this song. Savage amusement isn't best album of Scorpions(Love at first sting is one of my favorites ever) but Don't stop is one of most rockin's songs of Scorpions but one of most rocking ever too. Most of the COB-covers are cool practical jokes, cuz combining death metal and old fasion rock.... It's ingenius. Alexi knows exactly waht he is doing and Scorpions are gods! Amazing song, btw :)
Love this song. Call me old-fashioned, but the COB version blows. Incomprehensible cookie monster shouting replacing Klaus' amazing clarity and range? I don't think so. Klaus is a master vocalist like Freddie Mercury. Nobody should even attempt to cover him. It's a joke.

Great song, but i must say the Children of Bodom cover is alot better than the original. Alexi's playing and the added keyboards from Janne just make the song amazing. and they speed it up which makes it even better.
I was a Scorpion fan before I was a COB fan... probably makes all the difference. COB did an amazing cover of the song, but like every song on Savage Amusement there's a certain attitude or atmosphere written into the Scorp's version that COB totally missed on.

The Scorpions took me into Hardrock and Metal music in those days! My favorite albums are Virgin killer,Animal magnetism,Lovedrive,Blackout and Love at first sting.
ive seen them live... they are not that popular in my and their homecountry germany as e.g. in the USA... most germans only know "wind of change" (well, thats a song EVERYBODY knows around here) and sometimes "rock you like a hurricane", but their other songs are barely noticed...
but they are VERY great live... if u got the chance go see 'em, u wont ever forget that! was my first show of a "big" band and it was awesome!

@freddieisalive Yea, off of Unbreakable, only bad thing (it's not a bad thing) but it's not long enough...it is awesome anyways, that whole album is...but I prefer long songs now (Like 2112, Xanadu, Cygnus X-1 Book I & II, Dogs, Pigs, Sheep, Fly To The Rainbow, Lonesome Crow, The Rain Song, Achilles Last Stand) *RUSH, Pink Floyd, Scorpions and Led Zeppelin* and many other songs/bands but I like it very much now, imagine it being 9 minutes of pure awesomeness!!
@freddieisalive The Zoo was the fist Scorpions song I ever heard. It was originally the Heil talk box that intrigued me, but after listening to the entire album, I was hooked. I got to meet Herman Rarebell in Memphis, TN in 89'. Him and Warren DiMartini are probably 2 of the nicest and most polite rock stars I've ever met.

@richis404 yea, like Rainbow, Deep Purple (their other albums other than "Machine Head", like Shades of Deep Purple, The Book of Taliesyn, Deep Purple and other albums later than that like Burn, Stormbringer, were ok (though not great, just underrated) also Elf, RJDio's first band...Pink Floyd, because yea DSotM was good, Animals, Meddle, and Wish You Were Here were amazing, there's Accept, another german band that had some good albums (though they don't come to mind) can't finish no more room

@richis404 There's also Frank Zappa, he put out like 50+ albums in like 30 years, there's also bands like Judas Priest, who I think their 2nd album Sad Wings of Destiny was and is a masterpiece, there's Stained Class, Hell Bent for Leather which are all better than British Steel, there's MeatLoaf which seems irrelevant but actually an arguable case, because those first 2 albums were phenomenal and he had a unique voice (not good but unique, and not bad though either) darn ran out of room again

@richis404 There is also Def Leppard's first album, believe it or not, On Through the Night is nothing like you'd think from them after they totally commercial (though they didn't decrease in music quality, just not as raw) there's definitely RUSH, totally awesome and absolutely underrated, they're just judged by their Permanent Waves, Motion Pictures through Presto, Counterparts (though I didn't like Vapor Trails too much) but RUSH-Hemispheres were absolutely sublime...out of room again
@satanicherpes rush and magnum are defently one of the most underrated bands,but i think moving pictures was a masterpiece and their best album (my opinion) also in the official ranking for one of the best rock albums of all time , its worth it
@richis404 ...sorry for sending you all these messages, but I need to vent haha...anyways about RUSH, they made some very complex music, chord progressions, time changes, heck just the diameter is complex, there's some really breakthrough stuff (to where Alex could play totally technical and improvise at the same time La Vito Strangieto is a perfect example and he didn't use 1 tone, he used like 100 tones...) there's also Dio, when he went solo, Holy Diver and The Last In Line were very good

I mean you don't hear "They need a million", "Fly people Fly", "Your Light", "In Search of peace of mind", Evening wind", "Far Away", "Living and dying"...song of that magnitude and caliber

Love this song. Call me old-fashioned, but the COB version blows. Incomprehensible cookie monster shouting replacing Klaus' amazing clarity and range? I don't think so. Klaus is a master vocalist like Freddie Mercury. Nobody should even attempt to cover him. It's a joke.

Great song, but i must say the Children of Bodom cover is alot better than the original. Alexi's playing and the added keyboards from Janne just make the song amazing. and they speed it up which makes it even better.

I was a Scorpion fan before I was a COB fan... probably makes all the difference. COB did an amazing cover of the song, but like every song on Savage Amusement there's a certain attitude or atmosphere written into the Scorp's version that COB totally missed on.

Scorpions is my best band.They are the best classic/hard rock band ever made.Their ballands can make you cry and their hard rock songs can make you feel like you want to break everything.

COB used to have meaning but they have become just another streamline metal band. If you listen to Hatebreeder or Something Wild, you'll understand that they really do have meaning.

what an amazing song... This is what I grew up listening to (savage amusement), and will always be one of my all time favorite albums. I am a COB fan, but I don't think they did this song much justice. No one can touch this classic.

The Scorpions took me into Hardrock and Metal music in those days! My favorite albums are Virgin killer,Animal magnetism,Lovedrive,Blackout and Love at first sting.

ive seen them live... they are not that popular in my and their homecountry germany as e.g. in the USA... most germans only know "wind of change" (well, thats a song EVERYBODY knows around here) and sometimes "rock you like a hurricane", but their other songs are barely noticed...
but they are VERY great live... if u got the chance go see 'em, u wont ever forget that! was my first show of a "big" band and it was awesome!

i also like 'virgin killer' and 'lonesome crow'...also some people think of the scorpions as '"that rock you like a hurricane band"'...well that song is only 0.1% of their greatness....they are literally the most underrated band of all time...hand down

I got into Scorpions at the same age that you did, and I'm really happy about it. Have you tried listening to 'Maybe I Maybe you'? I tell you, it's one of the best songs I've ever heard: the lyrics, the guitar, everything... it just kills me.

@freddieisalive to be honest I have gone back and started listening to the early stuff like Lonesome Crow, Virgin Killer, In Trance and Fly to the Rainbow...truly amazing! I honestly did not expect this 2 years ago! but I listen to full albums and play them all all the way through...so I have all albums (studio) except for the new Sting in the Tail, and I'm going to go get that next friday when i get paid..(im 17 so i have other things to spend it on haha)so ya i've heard let me go thru and look

@freddieisalive Yea, off of Unbreakable, only bad thing (it's not a bad thing) but it's not long enough...it is awesome anyways, that whole album is...but I prefer long songs now (Like 2112, Xanadu, Cygnus X-1 Book I & II, Dogs, Pigs, Sheep, Fly To The Rainbow, Lonesome Crow, The Rain Song, Achilles Last Stand) *RUSH, Pink Floyd, Scorpions and Led Zeppelin* and many other songs/bands but I like it very much now, imagine it being 9 minutes of pure awesomeness!!

@freddieisalive The Zoo was the fist Scorpions song I ever heard. It was originally the Heil talk box that intrigued me, but after listening to the entire album, I was hooked. I got to meet Herman Rarebell in Memphis, TN in 89'. Him and Warren DiMartini are probably 2 of the nicest and most polite rock stars I've ever met.

@richis404 yea, like Rainbow, Deep Purple (their other albums other than "Machine Head", like Shades of Deep Purple, The Book of Taliesyn, Deep Purple and other albums later than that like Burn, Stormbringer, were ok (though not great, just underrated) also Elf, RJDio's first band...Pink Floyd, because yea DSotM was good, Animals, Meddle, and Wish You Were Here were amazing, there's Accept, another german band that had some good albums (though they don't come to mind) can't finish no more room

@richis404 There's also Frank Zappa, he put out like 50+ albums in like 30 years, there's also bands like Judas Priest, who I think their 2nd album Sad Wings of Destiny was and is a masterpiece, there's Stained Class, Hell Bent for Leather which are all better than British Steel, there's MeatLoaf which seems irrelevant but actually an arguable case, because those first 2 albums were phenomenal and he had a unique voice (not good but unique, and not bad though either) darn ran out of room again

@richis404 There is also Def Leppard's first album, believe it or not, On Through the Night is nothing like you'd think from them after they totally commercial (though they didn't decrease in music quality, just not as raw) there's definitely RUSH, totally awesome and absolutely underrated, they're just judged by their Permanent Waves, Motion Pictures through Presto, Counterparts (though I didn't like Vapor Trails too much) but RUSH-Hemispheres were absolutely sublime...out of room again

@richis404 ...sorry for sending you all these messages, but I need to vent haha...anyways about RUSH, they made some very complex music, chord progressions, time changes, heck just the diameter is complex, there's some really breakthrough stuff (to where Alex could play totally technical and improvise at the same time La Vito Strangieto is a perfect example and he didn't use 1 tone, he used like 100 tones...) there's also Dio, when he went solo, Holy Diver and The Last In Line were very good

@Marielmo84 yea but that's stuff from Lovedrive up, but 1-they're not in the Rock N Roll hall of fame (but now it isn't such a great honor to get into, but still) and 2-How many albums other than Love at first sting, blackout, Crazy World, and Sting in the Tail that are really commercial? I mean you don't hear "They need a million", "Fly people Fly", "Your Light", "In Search of peace of mind", Evening wind", "Far Away", "Living and dying"...song of that magnitude and caliber

i just got into scorpions cause im trying new things...im more of a pink floyd and led zeppelin kind of guy...and im 17 so thats odd...but anyways i listened to full album of 'love at first sting' and loved it...dad told me to listen to 'blackout' really loved it...then i looked them up and got 'animal magnetism' and 'lovedrive' and i was going crazy...im actually listening to lady starlight right now

Savage Amusement > Blackout, but Blackout is still a good album. It had one of their more famous songs, No One Like You. Look it up man, its a good one.
