Standard & Poor’s raised China’s long-term sovereign credit rating from A+ to AA- yesterday, citing the nation’s strong foreign reserves and fiscal position. This comes just over a month after China’s Dagong Global Credit Rating Co. reduced their rating for U.S. debt from AA to A+ (for the full story read my 12 November 2010 article China’s Dagong Lowers U.S. Credit Rating). S&P also affirmed its short-term ratings at A-1+; the outlook is stable.

Jokhang or “House of the Lord,” Temple in Lhasa is the most revered and intensely spiritual holy site in Tibet. It is the destination for pilgrims of Tibetan Buddhism, and provides continued evidence of a tradition that had its beginnings over 1k years ago. Pilgrims prostrate themselves in prayer in front of the main entry. Some come hundreds of miles in a continuing prostrate position, body length by body length.

Is Dalai Lama a leader of Tibetan separatists? Probably yes, but he's also a communist Lama. here is why:
1) He convinced Tibetans/Kashag to join PRC peacefully in 1951
2) Upper-class Tibetans didn't like the reform, and he took them to India
3) He also took 100,000 army to India and cloned N temples there.
4) He disarmed 10k army in 1970
5) He began to teach them for next 30 years.
6) He labeled some stubborn Tibetans Dorje Shugden and sent them back home for "patriotic re-education".

The Original Buddhism Translator is a second-generation Chinese! His father was from Indian Brahmin noble family. lol.
Kumārajīva (鸠摩罗什), (344-413) was a Buddhist monk, scholar, and translator. He first studied teachings of the Sarvastivada schools, later studied under Buddhasvāmin, and finally became a Mahāyāna adherent, studying the Madhyamaka doctrine of Nagarjuna. He settled in Chang'an. He is mostly remembered for the prolific translation of Buddhist texts written in Sanskrit to Chinese.

Tibetan Buddhism celebrates 900 years of the Karmapa Lama
Both Tibetans and the Chinese government recognise Trinley Thaye Dorje, 17th Karmapa. He occupies the third highest post in Tibetan Buddhism after the Dalai and the Panchen Lama. He lives under Indian “protection”. A two-day celebration will be in Bodh Gaya, India, starting this Wednesday.

A Tibetan Buddhist needs to know a little bit about Tibetan. Chinese is required, but English is nice to have and just optional. BTW, learn genuine Tibetan from the Tibetans born in China.

Dalai Lama begins 3-day teachings for Russian Buddhists
The teaching has been specially considered by the Dalai Lama for the Buddhists from Russia and the Russian Republics of Buryatia, Kalmykia[{majority are Mongols. Others in Xinjiang}] and Tuva. A small group of followers from Mongolia are also attending the teachings.
These teachings are being translated in Russian. Simultaneous translations in English and Chinese are also made available on FM radio. Why Chinese instead of Mongol? :)

She speaks fluent English with a very strong Indian accent...If you don't look at her face, you hear an Indian girl talking. It's said that many westerners, especially British teachers taught in Tibetan villages, but why not have a British accent, American accent, or Tibetan accent?
