  • awesome, can listen the whole day man!

  • @onkelbuke

Thank you very much & Danke!

  • great transformation of sadness (of being lonesome) to joy.

  • Great job too !

  • Thanks mucho for posting..excellent

  • Das hat mir sehr sehr gut gefallen.Weiter so

    Bravo!

    Mit Respekt und Liebe, Olga.

  • oh, yeah, so many awesome people....I love Jimmy Reed..all the others are fantastic too...:-) great tribute..

  • Love it !!! Well produced :))

  • Nice - good of you to honor Roots Blues

  • @CharmedQuarkZ99

thank you - I promise I will continue in the future with BLUESCARTOONs.

But this month July 2010 I opened a new channel for my german music and I will upload some of it this month.

    bye

  • Really like the early 50's chevy......great stuff......look forward to more...oh yea....the Music too.....

  • A nice tribute to SBW....re.The Band and Levon Helm; They tell the story in Scorsese's movie 'The Last Walz'.

  • this is the real sonny boy. forget that garbage sounding john lee williamson from the 40s. his recording are forgettable. this the man

  • @rorygg1

I think both Sonny Boys are great and were very influential players, singers & composers. Both were great accompainist, too.Don't forget BIG JOE WILLIAMS' recordings from the 30's&40's. John Lee W. died very young and would have surely developed & modernized his style.Would have been interesting to hear John Lee recording for the CHESS or VEEJAY Labels in the 50's.

BTW it is me playing on the recording&I would be happy to have 50% of the class of any of the 2 Sonnyboys -LOL

    Thanks&bye

  • great! love it!

  • Wonderful !

    I appreciate a lot

Thank you very much for this entraînante/électrisante/ensorcelante...musique !

    J'adore !

  • I think that's "Aleck" Rice Miller

  • this is cool ! enjoyed it..

  • Great music, great graphics. Very cool!-Jazzman Jeff

  • Yea thats sure nice :)

  • And don't forget Junior Wells, who said of Rice, "I was his student, and he taught me well."

  • @doctornoe

Jnr Wells did a great tribute recording in 1966 for vanguard but on the east german amiga label, too (live recorded in the Friedrichstadt Palast in Berlin in 1966).

Did you know JIMMY REED recorded a tribute to Sonny Boy as well in 1966 after he left VeeJay? He even imatated Sonny Boy's vocal style on that one!!!

  • Grandissimo Sonny Boy il piu' grande blues man del mondo !!! Bellissimo cartone 5*****

  • I love this video Very funky. Great art. One million stars!

  • Video is great. Music is too. Laura

  • Love the animation!

  • nice :)

  • Super Cool Video,,555 Stars,,,,,,Peace To Those That Love Peace,,,,,,,,Dean.

  • great style in video

  • i love it!

  • Do you remember King Biscuit Time? Sonny Boy Williamson had a show in West Helena, Arkansas. Sonny Boy was an amazing musician, he just happened to know all the members of The Band. He inspired them, Levon Helm was always a good friend of Sonny Boy Williamson. I remember reading up on him in This Wheel's on Fire, they went out for lunch and he got beat up because of his colour. Thanks for the post. Ryan

  • @LocalRailfan

Thank you for watching my videos. I heard of that show & I know there is a cd with music from it but I never had the chance to listen to it.

I know one song where SONNY BOY II is singing about that show from the 50's though.

  • Lovely!

  • Sonny was awesome. One guy you forgot to mention that he played with and conspired with on "One Way Out"; Elmore James. He and Sonny played together a LOT. You post some great old stuff, bro. Thanks

  • Wow - really enjoyed!

    Only wish it was longer...LOL

  • Zugabe ... Zugabe ... Merry Christmas!

  • Sonny Boy, probably my all time favourite harp player and you've done him right proud with this little number. You get plenty of suck going (like Sonny) and yet still keep the jauntiness of the melody going beautifully - Once again, wonderful work, bravo!!! Red x

  • there´s new home for blues in your profile! nice bluesharp!

  • lmao, very cool man. I love it....

  • top man

  • good & sweet

  • cool, super gemacht!

    grüsse

  • So cool!!! You have a great talent!

  • This is the shit!!! Five stars!

  • Thank you for watching & subscribing

  • just love ur work soooooo much

  • Thank you. Do you have a new icon? I think so.

  • Man i always enjoy your animations, classic, great tribute!

  • Thank you. Good to read that you are enjoying it.

That gives me power to try another one

  • Short & sweet and very nice mouth harp licks.

  • The licks are inspired by a swing tune (I forgot the title) from the 40's & a tenor sax solo from LAWDY MISS CLAWDY

  • really lovingly designed

    video :-)

  • Jo mei!

  • it's really good !

  • your work has a nice feel. i like it!

  • I am glad it finally works.

    Thank you

  • Sweet job! Like how you did that! COOL!

  • Thanks - just watch my 3-part-"tutorial" on the comments of JOHN LEE HOOKER

  • that is really cool!.

  • Great music and great artiwork. Love your blues cartoon vids.

  • Wow, great! And some german words at the end...

  • fantastic work

  • Thank you very much

+ 2. Position - also in C & F-Dur), dadurch konnte ich nicht all zu viele Effekte machen-was ja typisch für SB II war- denn ich hatte die Hände gewissermaßen voll.

  • Very nice work !

    Thanks again for your invitation.

    5* from your new friend.

    See you :

    Steph.

  • maaaan this is sooo tasty! thanks for posting 5/5

  • Thank you - you got a very good taste, LOL!

  • Nice, but could have been longer!

  • Thank you. Just watch my JIMMY REED vid. It is with 74 seconds relativ longer than the very short Sonny Boy clip with its duration of a meager 44 seconds.

The idea that stands behind these clips is that they should make more appetite to listen to the originals. So if you want to hear right now more of Sonny Boy or JIMMY REED or any other Bluesman or -woman from that era my mission was a success.

    Bye

I will upload tomorrow my JOHN LEE HOOKER tribute (about 70 seconds long)

  • call me outta my mind but that sonny boy animation totally reminds me of the very first "mortal kombat" videogame I used to play back in the days: "Rayden wins - flawless victory"...haha

  • very creative -are you playing the harmonica?

  • Thank you - I am playing everything on that clip - harmonica, upright bass, guitars, drums & did the animation. Next week I will upload vid No. 3

  • Fantastic. Thanks for Posting.

  • Shake a hand - make a friend!

  • Sensational!...Good that there are talented people like yourself to keep this style of music alive! Good for you

  • Thank you very much! But I think the blues died with people like jIMMY REED, Sonny Boy, Muddy Waters and will completely vanish with the deaths of people like BB and BUDDY GUY. That's life! It makes no sense trying to keep something dead alive! My wish is that people remember the greats from the past and do not forget who started it all!

thank you again for your visit. In the 1st october week I will upload another of my tributes.

    bye

  • blues will never really die- its just morphed into all the dif genres - hip-hop, rock, metal, r&b- it all has roots in the blues- though all those are great blues players- when they are all dead their influence will live on

  • I like to read that!

    bye

  • A fine job INDEED!!

    Shey

  • Thank you for visiting and watching & commenting!

    bye

  • This is a fantastic tribute to Rice Miller! Really a good and funny video. Thank you very much for share :)

  • Thank you. Yes - I tried to make it a bit funny. Glad you realized that.

    bye

  • 74 seconds of magic

  • Thank you but it is actually only 43 seconds long. My JIMMY REED tribute is 74 seconds. If you like my SONNY BOY II -video then it might be a good idea to check out my other JIMMY REED clip, too.

  • That was very nice i just loved that' all the stars*****

hugs and love sent wee deborah sha sha ireland xoxo

  • Great music and video! Thanks for posting it!

  • Thank you very much!

  • Nice work man, Thank You! I love how you make the entertaining, educational and informantional seem like childs play.

  • Thank you - SESAME STREET for very young bluesfans - without ERNIE & BERT but with SONNY BOY & JIMMY REED!

  • very cool!! thanks for posting! keep it up!

  • thank you & I am back from Rome, Italy and will continue on my 3rd vid tomorrow.

  • Well done man! Thanks for sharing it.

  • Thank you & pleasure is on my side

  • Well done.

  • Good to hear from somebody who is doing filming and editing since 1974.

Thank you - I feel honored

  • Wow this is truly nice

    thank you ever so much

    off to sub you

    *****

  • Thank you & great

  • Very nice. I wish i could combine my guitar playing with such a charismatic harmonica.

    And nice vid too!

  • Thank you. I would like to play with you although i play harmonica not quite often and consider myself rather a german songwriter, bassist, guitarplayer. I watched your vid and I enjoyed it

    bye

  • Thank you for your comment. Harmonica is not my first instrument. I played every instrument on that recording & did the animation, too. I have not enough time to concentrate on harmonica alone. I am no virtuoso and I don't want to be. I prefer rather the raw blues to the more polished. I am not even a bluesmusician. I am surprised how good the online-translation works because I did understand everything you told me. I hope you understand english because translation the other way around isn't well

  • sehr gut!! That is very cool. Sonny Boy was on the radio in Mississippi and listed to by among others Levon Helm of the Band and they got to know him later on. I like the feel of you movie, I have spent time in the South and you get the vibe right. Have you seen "Mystery Train" by Jim Jarmusch, great film. Make more these are very cool!!!

  • Thank you. I am glad you liked it. At the end of September I will upload another clip with another legend from MISSISSIPPI. But that happens by accident. The fourth clip is featuring even another bluesman from that state ( I am trying out some music for it). I never saw the film MYSTERY TRAIN but I know the song - Best versions are imo by ELVIS (No.1) & the original by JNR. PARKER (No.2). SONNY BOY had so much charisma (like JIMMY REED or ELVIS)! That makes it easier creating a cartoon!!!

  • Absolutely Brilliant

i am a Sonny Boy fan i collect his recordings especially on the TRUMPET label - this is a fine dedication to him

    Bravo !!

  • He was on records from other artists, too. Some very famous like TAMPA RED in 1953 and others who are somewhat obscure like BOBO JENKINS who did IMO his best recordings with SONNY BOY. I am not an expert on SONNY BOY'S record labels and only know his earlier recordings are on the TRUMPET label but I think I like his Chess recordings best.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my channel and little films

    Have a nice weekend

  • Very sweet!

  • thanks

  • ...No guy, 'blues' are cool!---I'm an old Muddy Waters (et al.) fan myself!

---Creative vid you have there...Thanx! :o)

  • Thank you

    Lloyd

  • Danke schön. My tributes are only appetizers for the original artists - hahaha! Sonny Boy and Jimmy Reed (btw did you watch my other Cartoon?) did record many songs and SONNY BOY even has almost one hour of filmed live performances (JIMMY REED only about 8 minutes) to his credit.

    Grüße aus Deutschland nach MISS.

  • Klasse! *****!!

    Gruß aus Berlin

    Mike

  • Na das höre ich doch gerne,

Gruß zurück - ebenfalls aus Berlin!

  • Fantastic tribute! Thanks for posting it!

  • thank you for watching

  • Nice vid and nice harp. In the first band I joined (1966) one of the first songs we learned was Junior Wells' Tribute to SBW. I didn't really know who SBW was at the time, but it didn't take long to find out. Many of the blues greats have played in our area (R.I. USA) at one time or another, especially at the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals, going back to the 1950's, but I don't believe SBW ever played there. Again, thanks for the link.

    Peter J

  • The tribute to SBW was actually the first time I listened to Jnr. Wells. It was on a VANGUARD recording "Golden hour of Blues" great compilation to start with - had everybody on it from Broonzy to Hooker, Hopkins, Muddy & Homesick James to Otis Spann, Buddy Guy and James Cotton. Thanks for your kind comments

  • wow i love it congratulations good rhythm5****** greetings from Guatemala in central america

  • I think I never had any visitors from Guatemala - so I am sending you a very special and warm welcome to Guatemala from Berlin,Germany. Have a great week!

  • Enjoyed your comment in Germany, bye

  • Nice vid, I was blessed with seeing him at the the Fillmore in the '60s.

  • Thank you. Do you like to share your memories with us who were not so lucky to see the man perform in real life?

  • cool...

  • Thanks

  • Very cool ...Greetings from canada *****

  • Thank you, Greetings from Germany

  • cool stuff, great !! °°°°°° Cheers CHris

  • Dankeschön, Christian!

  • Thank you.

  • That was very neat. Love the blues. :)

  • Nice......I liked it a lot.

  • superb ! I love it.

  • Thank you and thank you for sending me a vid of the original SONNY BOY II.

  • cool sony boy, good blues! thanks!

  • Thank you so much!

  • Hello,

Wonderful blues harmonica playing, thanks for sharing with us, great animations too, well done, my compliments again, 5*****

Best regards from Chris - The Netherlands - Europe - YouTube chrismayka.

  • That is very nice of you - I really appreciate this,

    Greetings from Germany

  • very nice animation my friend 5* it's so cool you are master !!!

  • Thank you! Sonny boy was a true master and it is a great gift that he left us - who never had the chance to see him perform live - some more filmed concerts than JIMMY REED.

    Bye

  • Cool video.

  • thank you!

  • Brilliant!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you very much!

  • You forgot to mention The Yardbirds! Sonny Boy II made an album in England with The Yardies. I love this stuff & another guy I really love is Slim Harpo who did some songs that became classics (Shake Your Hips, Got Love If You Want It, I'm A King Bee, etc..). I really like these cartoons (maybe not the right term), thanks for posting them, I hope you do some more!

  • Well, cartoon is the right word!

Indirectly I mentioned the Yardbirds when I mentioned Clapton who was a member of the band in 1963.

Jimmy Reed was the role model for SLIM HARPO - not only the music but even playing harp on a rack.

Proably I will some other blues cartoons,

    thank you and bye

  • I actually recommend Sonny Boy Williamson 1, Little Walter, Elmon Mickle (Model T Slim, Drifting Slim) and James Cotton a lot more...

  • Thank you, for your comment. All the mentioned musicians are great - even if I think Drifting Slim is not as good as the others but that is no disgrace - very few are! I saw Cotton live in 1985 or 86 and enjoyed it very much. He was able to sing back then when his throat was better (no cancer). My fav. Drifting Slim's recordings are from the mid 60's and with a small band - I think he was not good at doing a 1-man-band (JESSE FULLER; JOE HILL LOIS were more enjoyable)

    bye&hope we meet again

  • Let me know where you can get those recordings by Drifting Slim with the band, because there's only one CD exclusively his that I know of and it doesn't have his best recordings by far. His style and quality varies greatly and his recording are rare, I think he is by far one of the best and definitely one of the most underrated harmonica players....

  • I don't know the exact name of the cd but it has some solo songs of him and some with a band of unknown musicians (they are named but i never heard of them). I think it was originally released in 1966. But his one-man band attempts are almost chaotic and they made up 40% of the songs.

Nice to meet a Drifting Slim Fan,

    bye

  • thank you

  • thiis is pretty cool

  • Heu thanks for that was really good

  • I like to read this, thanks

  • Very well done! Thanks.....

  • SONNY BOY II, JIMMY REED and LOUIS ARMSTRONG had a warmth in their voice who made them and their music attractive even to pepole who did not understand one word of english. In such a case music was the language,

thank you for spending some time on my site!

    bye

  • thanks for that,it was very nice

  • I am glad you liked it & have a nice weekend

  • Yes, Sonny boy was great. Like JIMMY REED or Louis Armstrong he had a certain warmth in his voice that made him and his music attractive even to people who did not understand one word of english.

  • Very nice apresentation. Congratulation.

  • Thank you very much!

  • Yes, thanks 2009framat, for your new tribute to the great blues master Sonny Boy Williamson.Blues music will live forever!

  • Thank you for your nice coment.

I think blues as an artform died with people like JIMMY REED, the SONNY BOYS, the HOOKERS, the KINGS and lesser knowns etc.. I know some people are still alive but within 25-30 years nobody of the original blues people will be on that earth anymore. But that is life! We are lucky to have the music & some performances on film and we have our memories - even if they are often of "second hand" nature.

    Greetings

  • Nice video. 5 stars.

  • thank you for your comment - strangely your comment was declared as spam. I have some problems with youtube lately - especially on my channel site and now this. I had the comment in my mail box but it did not appear on the video site?! Have a nice weekend

  • Excellent, have you ever heard of Cyril Davies and his all Stars, the very first British blues harpist. He played on most of the very early R & B records of the sixties but I believe he died young. Look him up, I think you would like his music. Regards, Inish.

  • Yes, I heard of him and I have a compilation on a double LP called british "blues anthology" with the allstars featuring several frontmen like Davies, Clapton, Korner & Beck.

I bought it almost 30 years ago because of him His name was always mentioned but I only heard a very short sketch of his playing in radio. He played Little Walter's SOME DAY. But I can't remember it anymore. I must admid I prefer american original blues or STONES, ANIMALS etc..

Thank you for your comment & bye

  • very cool

  • I am pleased to hear that (or better read this)!

  • this is also good. just went and saw a harp player in kanas city last nite. his name was john paul drum. 5 stars again to you friend

  • Thank you. I have sent you a description how I did the clip since you mentioned you did not know how to to it.

  • my bueno, gracias !!!

  • Gracias!
