The Philips DVDR1000 and DVDR1000 mark II were all build and designed with faulty laser assemblies and very few machines actually work.
The machines will play back an occassional factory made DVD but are useless for recording.
These two early DVD recorder machines were the biggest failure in the history of Philips.
