Yeah. And it's actually soy sauce. I had a can of pepsi that i was gonna put into the pitcher, but my Dad drank it, so I needed a substitute. The stench was awful, but hey it worked.
The thing is that when filming food they often use substitutes because the actual thing that they are filming doesn't look or move the way the directors want them to.
That may seem pretty unreal, but if you compare shots that you take of food and shots that professionals take of food they're entirely different.
Not to mention that for solid foods they'll smother a glaze paste all over just to make it look delicious, of course you'd never eat it because it's covered in paste.
