  • SHE WAS ALL THAT AND SOME I WAS BORN IN 76 MY MOM MY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE NAME ME HER FIRST AND LAST... A TRUE STAR WAS BORN AND I HAVE HER NAME

  • mortais simples demaissss..tudo simplesss pros dias de hjjj.. se fose hj nao valia nada

  • she won gold not bronze

  • She's Nadia Comanecia; how could someone possibly be better?

  • @AndDanielaSays easy, and best shaw jhonson, Daiane dos Santos of Brazil and best catalina ponor Romania and best

  • Wow I wish I were that good!

  • Good lord, how does she make it look so easy?

  • AMAZING

  • All in this performance is gymnastics, full of life and energy! Ok, Nelly Kim had a double, and so what!?

Nadia defnitely desirved another gold medal, on floor...

  • 1:10 omg totally cool her head yust doesnt moves O:

  • I'd like to see the Gold winner even the Silver winner's routine! They must've been outrageous because Nadia was undefeated (imo)!!

  • The best gymnast ever born and ever to be born. Without a doubt.

  • well a bronze is still really good if she was in the olympics she would get to move on duh

  • She got bronze because she is romanian, if she was american or russian she would have gotten the gold medal...

  • @Vartolomei I'm not sure that so true since she took gold in the all-around, beam and bars.

  • La mejor gimnasta de todos los tiempos. Siempre estaras en mi corazon.Te iubesc Nadia!

  • I don't really like the coriography but the tumbling is exceptional.

  • What was her score?

  • @volleyballfan21 As I recall, her score in the final was 9.9. Ludmilla had a 9.95 in the final to earn silver and Nelli Kim had a 10 (her second in Montreal) for gold. I also seem to recall that the judges around this time were blowing a bit hot and cold towards Nadia's floor performance--she had a couple of career 10's for floor, but not in Montreal.

  • @cherylannemason Thanks for the info!! :)

  • hello,

I want the movie nadia comeneci, translated into French.

Do you know where I can get information or if someone has?

    Thank you

  • @teebou86

sorry i dont, i just have the english version :(

btu maybe if you look online you might fin dit.

  • 0:43

in modern day gymnastics termonolgy i would call it a round off, half (twisting layout), through to round of back straddle??

this routine is worth level 9 nowadays

  • is this spring floor

  • die beste von allen.................

  • in regards to everyone's comments here, I agree. Nadia should have earned a gold medal for the floor routine!

  • Is that a double twisting back? Had that ever been done before? How did she only win bronze on that awesome routine?

  • with double back would had hit a 10 and the gold

  • what does she do at :43 seconds whats it called

  • STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • could you please just disappear from here?

  • If you want me to answer then write into the reply section,so I will be notified & I can answer.-

I will slow down when I want to,- you have a serious self-esteem problem,- & as I said you are not in the position to write any negative comment of Nadia.

Read again my previous comment and shut your mouth ,- nobody wants to hear your opinion.

  • ahh, the infamous end pose (:

  • i like her stunts that she done and thanks for you to know more about so my history is good now, thanks =)

  • yeah, a very simple routine, but a very graceful one. it's true that routines girls are making nowadays are much more complicated - the girls won in strength, but they lost their grace. and personally, i prefer this floor exercise to any other floor exercise from nowadays. i mean, look at nadia, look at vera caslavska! now THAT was grace. routines nowadays suck at this chapter.

  • Very simple routine. Incomparable to what the girls do nowadays.

  • "AliciaDupres" simply no words to describe how stupid you are.

    Nadia was the best ever.

She was the "Perfect",- have you won 2 gold medal on an Olympic gymnastic event like her?

Did anyone called you the "Perfect" like her on the front page of the Time magazine?

Please look after who was she,- before you would try to belittle her.

Times are changing so the requirements too,- with her talent she would always win.

She was the "Greatest" the "Perfect" the One and only.

  • Did she take a double back out of the end of her last passage and replaced it with a layout?

  • No, the first pass was supposed to be a double back as she did earlier in the year at the American Cup but an ankle injury prevented her from competing it.

  • Are you sure she had an ankle injury? I have never heard that before, also it seems that she would not have been able to perform other moves like ariels on beam if she had one. Are you sure your not confusing her with Olga?

  • Yes, she had an ankle injury prior to Olympics, I read about it in several accounts. It happened in Romania at a local competition, but I have to check it out in my books and articles to see when exactely it took place.

  • Onoarea noastra a tuturor romanilor! Te iubim Nadia!

  • How come when she does her routine there isn't any music, but when she finished her routine the music finally starts???????????????

  • If you listen very carefully, you can hear a music in background. People are louder ;)

  • Why does everybody in the old days just start their routines just standing there? Why don't they start in some position?

  • Nadia is great at tumbling but I think she needs to work on her dance moves a little

  • wow 0.0

  • I just learned a new move. Back walkover to chaturanga dandasana!

  • why did this only get a bronze medal?

  • @gymnasticsloverxoxo Because the russians would get reaaaaally upset for not having a gold medal. That's how things happened that time...

  • what is the name of her floor music?

  • It's a combination of "Jump In The Line" and "Yes Sir, That's My Baby".

  • she was so good !! greetz from nadia vanaubeel

  • I Named my daughter after her, 13 years ago. Nadia won these medals the year I was born and I remember watching the movie about Nadia when I was only 10 or so and always thought such a nice, strong name to name my daughter one day.

  • Dont be ignorant

Due to better training facilities, equiptment, and knowledge, you can't compare routines from today to Nadia's. It's a span of 32 years. Nadia is fantastic because she brought new moves to gymnastics and did it with such grace and perfection.

  • also the floor is much more springy now

  • What happened to the sound? lol.

  • Anyone can do a perfect perfect split!?

    i can't...not perfect...

  • im pretty sure i can..idk what you would call perfect..

but your probably great at it!

  • Brilliant but she was totally on the red cordial.

  • What?

  • Bronze, wtf, she is actually beatable

    nice vid tho :)

  • To think this is all on her own power!

  • Bronze? there was someone better than her?

  • yeah wtf?, id like to see that!

  • @jocosus - yes believe it or not BUT on floor, yes there were better gymnasts tumbling and artistry wise!

  • @jocosus That's my point!!!! This is so full os joy, grace, energy, skilkls! :-(

  • Teodora was robbed-her routine should have been in EF and she deserved at least bronze or but I would have given her the silver. Nadia's routine is very good and age appropriate-not the elegance of Kim or Tourischeva but very pleasing Charleston-style number to the Rag time "Yes Sir That's My Baby" by Scott Joplin.

  • nadia you are my idol ojala algun dia sere como tu

  • how old is she today?

  • 46?

  • Nadia was born 12 November 1961 - she will turn 47 this year in November. :)

  • omg i love her she is my romeodle i have bein doin gymnastics for 6 years now and i am 11

  • what's with all the ppl clpping?

  • During the all-round and team competitions, all 4 events go on @ the same time :)

  • but this is event finals

  • oh okay

  • why is the music all late?

  • omg, nadia is SO awesome!imfrom romania too. imalso a gymnast! =)i started this year and my coach says im better than someof the girls that started a couple years ago. i luv gymnastics!

  • LOVE the second pass

  • you can totally tell this is NOT her best event

  • the same year Nadia had performed a double back sommersault at the American Cup.Anyone know why Nadia took out this element at the Olympics. I think this routine does not even deserve bronze medal.

  • i think her 3rd or fourth tumbling line was terrible for an olympic routine i am in level 7 and i can do that and her back layouts are not perfectly holo but overall that is a great routine

  • You can't compare gymnastics 30 years ago to what it is today because obviously the COP has been updated and the requirements have changed. Nadia is a legend, apart from perfect routines she had this 'quality' that can't be taught and its what many gymnasts today are lacking.

  • Exactly. I really wish kids would take the time to learn the history of the sport. It's not just this sport-it's many other sports. It's futile to compare athletes from decades earlier to those of today with our spring-loaded equipment. In Nadia's day padded beams had just come out-but Nadia like Korbut trained on solid wood with no padding for years. I'd like to see today's kids try to throw a tuck back on THOSE archaic beams without fear.

  • audie83 no1 can do anything with out any fear there is always going to be fear. the point is that they still do it like if they had no fear.

  • @audie83 - sooooooo true, and POLISHED wood at that ! my mum competed in the sixties, she comments all the time that very few of todays girls would be able to do jack shit what they do today if they went back 40yrs - its not that gymnasts werent capable of throwing daring elements more that the equipment just wasnt the same....ive seen the super bouncy floors that they train on now...lol not just mats are they???????!!!!!!!!

  • You really need to study the history of gymnastics-Nadia was probably the first woman that year to throw a double back on a hard floor mat with no springs at the '76 American Cup. She had a sore ankle at Montreal and could not throw it there-but if you watch footage of ALL the routines at those Olympics-you will see that only 3 women I believe-Korbut, Filatova, and Kim-threw a double back. All the others were doing tuck backs, and single layouts.

  • she really only got a bronze 4 this? =| wat does it take 2 get gold?!

  • She's the best! Nobody is EVER going to beat her!

  • wow gymnastics has changed sooo much from then!

  • She will always be THE BEST

  • SHE iS AMZING. jeez

  • i have no idea what type of dance she is doing and what is up with the color of the floor?!?!?

  • the floor colour is soo weird usualy the floor is blue! but i have seen a red floor before but nevr a yellew thats so weird!!

  • i would get distracted if i had to compete on a yellow floor

  • me too i would hate that we have a floor at our gym it is blue but i hate it becasue it is not bouncy at all i hate it it is not even made with springs it is made of wood so it is like tumbling on cement!! um what gym do you go to????

  • it's a really small YMCA. our floor is so bad too. it has springs but it's so old that it's basically like tumbling on grass with some padding.

  • lmfao isnt is orange??

  • Floor seem to have gone through different color "phases"... They've been yellow and red, but now we generally see blue ones

  • Nadia is performing to a song by Scott Joplin "Yes Sir That's My Baby". It's from the Ragtime era and her dance-style is 1920's-the Charleston. Just check out videos of people dancing 'the Charleston'. The style is named for Charlie Chaplin-who had that funny duck walk. :)

  • she is the QUEEN of gymnastics!

  • Oh no, sorry, you're right!

  • No her music start right, it is the low music an the people ' s .....music

  • Nice video-except for the sound. What the heck! Her floor music started at 1:14!!!

  • nice

  • I love her sssooo much! We had to do a project on really important people and I did her and showed this routine and her bar routine!!!!

  • It was a memorable moment. However, you need to have the music synchronized with the performance. I just heard a lot of clapping during her routine and when the music finally did come on she was almost at the end of her routine.

  • at :59 I swear it looks like she's doing The Chicken Dance.

  • i love her dancing, its so cute and funny, especially the part where she flaps around lyk a duck

  • That type of dance is called a Charleston. :)

  • woow shes so energetic!! er moves r kinda funny too! holy crap, she can do flips sooo wel!!

    xwikerdx

    xxxxxxxxxxx

  • Tumbling has become more complicated these days, cheerleaders can now do that type of tumbling.

  • You do know that Nadia and other gymnasts are preforming on carpet, with no springs, right? This means they had NO bounce. Gymnasts now have springs that can make them jump higher.

  • holy crapamolay!!! arrrrgggg that was amazing!!!

  • i love it,im a big fan of nadia,i was also a gymnast in that era till my kneecaps were shattered. she was my hero, you should have played the music behind her more than the applause. thanks for the memory

  • Ouch!! How did you do that?

  • beautiful ... very nice to remember
