  • then he bought heroin

  • Yes the guy at my local music store said if you want the real deal made by the guy in Switzerland who invented it....it will set you back a cool $5,000 bucks for a single hang drum.

However he also said that some of the main-stream drum producers are now working on designs to sell to the general public at a reasonable cost.. So it is just a matter of time until you can go down to your local music store and buy one.

  • it's very nice to listen to you

your art is unique to play

we are glad to see you on our HANG & HARP channel:

    ciferencesymphony

    thanx CIFERENCE-SYMPHONY

  • Imma want one so bad! D=

  • Authentic hand-hammered Chinese wok.

  • It looks like he's playing a hubcap.

  • I can already make perfect trance beats in my head to this. So fucking beautiful!

  • Guy was really really high.. was soon discovered that a Chinese guy had nothing to cook his lunch in! Maybe this is how Wok and Roll was invented? (~):- #

  • @DeadheadRI

    Never again.

  • amazing copy of d steel pan a trini ting

  • YEEEE, SWEET DRUM!!! I searched it yesterday!!!

  • my wind chime does the same damn thing.

  • Sounds like the Wounded Coast soundtrack in Dragon Age 2.

  • MINECRAFT

  • Look up the "Hank Drum" on youtube here or the internet. You can make something similar- with great sound- out of a propane tank.

  • It's awesome!

  • hang !

  • the first beat is the best!nice sound

  • Wok

  • how much do they go for again?

  • Visit w w w . hangfan . co . uk for more info

  • beautiful thank you!

  • How did that scruffy Mogli afford a Hang!? Just kidding! I like him and his music :D

  • its an inside out steel drum

  • Google or youtube for hapi drum, a cheap alternative to the hang drum.

  • hang drum

  • The poor aliens inside must be really dizzy.

Just kidding! :D It's a beautiful instrument! Faved and 5 stars.

  • @stemega I remember stars ahhhhh the good ol days :(

  • @stemega roflmao!! hahaha! totally looks like an alien spaceship!

  • Freakin $5,000 instrument =(

  • I like the shadow of someone juggleing next to him.

  • @Jackle61 where?

  • @momomi8 At about :28 you can see the shadow of the juggling balls. Look in the grass right above his right leg, they come in from the left side so there is someone in front of him juggling.

  • @momomi8 Either that or my trance was much better than yours. :-)

  • @Jackle61 aaaahhh alrityy hahaa

  • beautiful!!

  • looks like a wok cover with dents

  • Like Gamalan music. Very restful.

  • Hang, not from India but from switzerland.

You could edit your video infos now that hundreds of people told you this. -_-

  • Done, bro ! : )

  • @furrytummy yeah and you will never get one.... I wait for a hang drum for about 8 years... really sucks.

  • @babbersabber : Who told I want one? :P

  • @furrytummy no, its from sweden.

  • @universalnametag : Go to panart website or on wikipedia and you'll see that it's from Switzerland.

  • @furrytummy thanks, youre right! i read this article, but somehow got sweden in my mind. guess im going to switzerland, cuz they don't ship. wwwDOThangblogDOTorg/the-call-of-iron/

  • Just get a hammer and a fucking pan for GOD´S SAKE

  • I had a guy come to my school with all of these wierd instruments. this was one of them. idk what its called tho.

  • Hang Drum

  • hang drum

it's really tough to get one and it's very expensive

  • @oleyullah It's not tough, but it is expensive. You have to write Panart (no email or phone) telling them you want to buy one. Cost is about 6k and comes with a 2 year waiting list to boot. Before they became popular, they only costed around $300 USD.

  • @oleyullah yeah, I heard the wait is long and you have to prove you really want one and are serious about it before they'll make one for you.

  • @oleyullah yeah makes one wonder how that indian guy got one! :D

  • HIS NAME IS ELMAR!!! He is from Rio de Janeiro, great guy, Hare Krishna, surfer, and friend of mine.

Really great to find him here out of the blue.

Oh, and this is a steel drum.

  • It isn't a steel drum, its a hang drum.

Steel drums are round drums with the hitting area pushed in and hangs around your neck.

This is a very expensive drum and also a pretty rare one.

Handmade, and you can only get it by special request.

  • if youre interested in the hang drum you might also be interested in the steel drum.

    /watch?v=mQu5Unc_TNY

  • so how did this guy get it?

  • this is a hang, it cost near 1500€ if i remember...

  • just to kill anyone's hopes of getting one of these. Unless you buy it second handed, the arts center in which the to creators make each of the hang drums (in Bern, Switzerland) is not accepting anymore request letters and will not produce any more drums this year. yes, you read it right. It has no other retailers in the world and it's aquired by letter request only.

  • which festival is this ?

  • greatgabbay is right, it's a hang drum; Astrogothic101 however is wrong. If you want that kind of sound you have to order it from the 2 guys in switzerland who make them... only a few each year, good luck buddy-o

  • not true, you can make them out of empty propane tanks. takes some experimenting to get it right

  • It's called a hang drum....

  • my first thought was steel drums :D

  • so nice

  • its not like anyone said, "This magnificent one of a kind instrument is virtually impossible to duplicate." if one did your comment would be somewhat relevant...

  • actually, according to creators of this instrument it should be called "hang", not "hang drum". In plural it should be "hang hang".

btw, i'm lovin thin instrument ;)

  • It's called Hang drum and its invention from Switzerland.

  • Sounds like wind chimes.

  • No it doesn't lol

  • thats really cool

  • Cool vid. 5 stars.

  • Interesting! I like this music, although this musical intrument looks like and sounds like extraterrestrial.

  • Its CALIPSO!

  • I would loooove to learn to play a hang drum like that

  • It's a WOK!

  • That is a hang drum

  • yeah I'm gona buy one to =D

  • look up manu delago

  • lol! i went to london today and there was some guy sat on the sidewalk playing one of those LOL!

  • well, it looks like an old lid betiboyyer

and I have a lot of lids in my kitchen

  • its Hang

  • it's a HAPI

  • What is this instrument??????? or what is the name ??

  • thats a hang drum.only produced in switzerland

  • i want one

  • me too^^

  • is it an old lid??

  • it's called a hang drum!

  • I turned my wok upside down and had a go ... sounded pretty good!

  • They sell this at SamAsh!

  • Not even close!~ ;-)

  • wow

  • UFO instrument

  • Jajajaja exelent coment

  • yea its called a hang drum and they are very rare, you can only get them from one place...bern or something its called in sweeden and they are around $4000

  • Almost right... The city is Bern and that's in Switzerland. Hang Drum does actually mean "hand" drum... its a swiss dialect.

They are hand made and you have to wait quite a long time to get one... and it's very expensive.

It works basically like a upside down steel drum.

  • wtf 4,000$ why does it cost so much?

  • sounds awesome!

  • but its wicked :D

  • i dont think its from india..

  • Made in Switzerland. It's called Hang Drum

  • Cool, I would have thought it was some kind of string instrument if I didnt see him playing.

  • it is called a hang drum i believe

  • Its called a hang drum and they are only made in Switzerland.

You really should change your description.

  • its called a metal scrap

  • its called hang drum

  • it looks like an inverted steel drum.

    sounds like it too

  • It is a Hang Drum, the company is in switzerland and is called " Panart".

The instrument will cost about 1400€ I think.

    sorry for my english,please

  • You are correct.

  • its another version of the steele drum the jamacans use, try looking them up on here

  • If I remember right, its from somewhere in India. Imogen Heap had one of them in one of her youtube blogs because she got one. Just go look through her blogs and you will find the name.

  • i'm pretty sure the hang drum was made in either switzerland or sweeden, but i'm not sure which

  • They were made in switzerland

  • hang drum

  • It's a hang, you can't get them anymore unless you send a letter to the company and they decide to sell you one

  • c'mon, theres no more sources?

  • nope. I don't know why the company would be so selfish as to keep people from playing an instrument, but they are. it's apparently not an instrument but more of an art piece to them

  • perhaps cause every single one is handmade...

  • so are wooden string instruments. they are SO much more expensive than types of horns.

  • The form is one thing. To get the really nice tones... the fundamental, it's fifth harmonic, and it's octave, ALL resonating on one note.... is very hard. A lot of people have reproduced the form.... but none have matched the tone.....YET. In any case, still not able to be as produced as other instruments that have hundreds of makers. This Hang doesn't really do the sound justice. Search for more samples. So, an instrument, a sculpture, a healing tool... how do you reproduce that? ;)

  • There's no need to call me names, I'm simply saying what I know, I'm not forcing you or anyone else to believe me. Take a pill

  • I'll go ahead and fling names and call you an asshole. It sounds like a steel drum...and I'm guessing you're one of the two people who knows how to tune it since you seem to know everything...sorry it didn't work out with the teaching though

  • ahahaha that wasn't even me that was my buddy

but it doesn't matter...you only behave like that because of your own insecurities...esp. on the internet.

  • Oh, I neglected to mention that I am the other guy who knows how to tune it. So I feel your pain buddy.

  • I do have knowledge and information, I wasn't making assumptions, I was saying what I knew to be true, and you really might want to seriously think about that pill

  • exactly, I'm a teenager, and you're fighting with me online. what does that say about you?

  • Or selling unattractive jewelry on the internet? Spending my time playing with hula hoops and fighting with people half my age? I don't think I'm the one who needs to pull my life together, and I'm definitely not the one who resorts to using profanity when I'm proven to be doing something ridiculous. Once again, I didn't make an assumption. The company that makes these instruments, Panart, does not sell them to anyone unless they request one and are then granted the "privilege" of receiving one.

  • If your going to be to your little fasion runway shit, then why are you trying to tick people off here?

  • and by the way, the comment about my parents? My mom died of breast cancer when I was 8 years old, and my dad has been absent since I was 5. Who's making assumptions now?

  • What does getting a life have to do with my parents? You're making yourself look pretty foolish. I guess that's better than how you look in your videos, though... you might seriously want to consider laying off the drugs, because you're definitely not aging gracefully.

  • You dont even know what my age is. Please dont accuse me of doing drugs when I dont. I am sorry you are jelous.

  • "Jelous"? whats there to be "jelous" about, we dont even know you, how can we be "jelous" if we dont even know a thing about you? Idiot

  • Please save your poor me stories, everyone has them. Just incase you need to be reminded this was about you posting ignorant statements. Obviously you can't hold an argument on the topic, but who could on such unstable grounds. Your arrogance won't get you far in life.

  • Just in case you've forgotten how to read in the same way you've forgotten how to spell in your past posts, I'm the one who has been staying on topic. Obviously you're either retarded or too stupid to understand that you're making yourself look like a straight up idiot. Anyway, I thought you were "done with my ass". Looks like you can't really stand by your statements like I can with mine.

  • Like I said. You statement was ignorant.

The makes of this drum dont ower it to you or anyone to make them faster or more availible. Live with it.

  • Who says I want one? If I wanted a steel drum to play I would make my own out of a gas tank. Spending 2000 dollars on a piece of metal isn't something I plan on doing in a long, long time

  • averything'll get selled like Fx in a kids shop, anything is anytihng can get selled.

  • Look, ok.

Candyman is obviously an asshole so just ignore him. Last thing he said to me almost made me die of laughter too...

Those who take life that seriously will never get out alive.

Now, to be productive. Yes it's a hang-drum, not a steel-drum, and there is a difference. Because I know everything about everything =P

  • "he *is..."

    just correcting..

  • I think that it is a Steel Pan played up side down and insted of play with sticks he i playng with hands..

its my opinion but i'm not sure...

  • is that a Pantam?

  • for everyone who thinks its a steel drum: its a hang drum, and they cost a big batch of money

  • hey whats that instrument called ?

  • its a steel drum

  • it's a hang drum

  • The sound here doesn't do the instrument or the player justice. It sounds incredible played in a large/tall stairway, or any tall skinny room that resonates well. Outside like this it sound kind of vapid.

  • Nice try dizz but we kno u dont actually play one of those, nd it looks nothing like u would drop a fukkn bowling ball to make those dents

  • haha u guys dont no jack

    im from florida

    we play steel drums

originated from jamaca and made from the lids of 50 gallon drums

    we drop bowling balls and things in certin spots to make dents when struck the dents vibrate at diffrant frequenceys{spell check?} thus making music :}

  • Its a hang drum, the originals are made by two people in switzerland and they go on ebay for about 10 grand each, theres one on ebay for 20 right now there hand made and if you want it from the manufacturers you have to be put o n a waiting list.

  • yes they do u conformist

  • he's in a festival at the beach. that's the look!

  • What's the name of the instrument ?

  • Hang Drum

  • it reminds me "The Monkey Island" series. those were the days... sniff... sniff...

  • It's called a hang drum!

  • The name of the instrument (asking for the name in the description of this vid) is called a "Hangdrum"

  • FREEBIRD!!!!

  • It was developed in 2000. Check out Dr Glam, he plays a mix of glam rock and smooth jazz on this crazy instrument. watch?v=00vCuICbg7c C.D/DVD out on sat.

  • It's called a Hang Drum :)P

  • I like chill out, sunrise dub watch?v=uI_YCgZQeZk

  • It's a Hang Drum - developed in Switzerland on a variety of pentatonic scales.

  • I think its called a hang drum

  • its called a wok its from india

  • LMFAO.

  • haha a wok, is a pot you cook in, definitely not from india either lol
