  • rory kicks claptons ass only reason he didnt get as much glory as clapton is because rorys irish and as most irish people know we get treated like shit in the 1950,s the english put signs in parks no blacks no dogs and no irish so ggod on rory he kicks claptons middle class ass

  • @shredmaster100 Amen.... and AHHHH-WOMEN... well said, lad

  • @wolfatnight thanks m8 someone had to tell it like it is

  • @shredmaster100 and you did... with style and grace, I might add..... Clapton hasnt played a releveant note in well over 30 years...Rory packed more soul into his all-too-brief life span... if Clapton lived another hundred years he wouldnt come close

  • @wolfatnight soooo true m8 thanks

  • When Jimmi Hendrix was asked if he was the greatist guitarist in the world. He said,"I don't know. Why don't you ask Bob Dylan. Than agian maybe I've had too much alcohol. ;-)

  • @BuddhaBro714 When Hendrix was asked by guitar magazine what it feels like to be the best guitarist ever he smirked and answered with "I don't know, you'll have to go ask Rory Gallagher"

  • That old Fender is Smokin'

  • Rory Gallagher greatest ever. Eric Clapton couldn't fasten his laces. Don't agree then get off here and listen to that crap tune Layla.

  • After Hendrix performed Woodstock, he was asked :How does it feel to be the best guitarist inthe world? He replied : Ask Rory Gallagher.

  • @thedoolan11 - yes, - but Isle of Wight festival, I think.

  • @tsoukalator για πλακα το ειπα φιλε χαλαρωσε!

  • no 1

  • Love love love it.

  • Clapton nowadays is a bit subdued granted and plays the same old stuff although he is very refined. Rory, if he was still alive i guess would be slightly similar.Clapton in the sixties could whip anybodies ass.

  • he is irish from Donegal like me

  • jimmy Hendrix on being asked what it feels like to be the best guitarist in the world: "I don't know you will have to ask Rory Gallagher"

  • @barrypep oh please stop this, it never happened, no interview in a newspaper, televisionshor or documentary to be found where this was said, nothing. It is an urban legend, with a life of it own because ppl just repeated this story so many times. But realy, it is just a hoax, a nice one, that is true, but just a story, nothing more

  • @DirkjeA it actually happened, when they asked jimmy hendrix that question, but he never said rory gallagher.

  • @royercrafter Give me the interview info, date, paper, radio, t.v. or what so ever and I believe you. Even Rory''s brother said it never happened.

  • @DirkjeA

    /wiki/Rory_Gallagher#Tributes

    but maybe you are right

  • @royercrafter This link under the wiki article is nothing more than a citation of someone talking about this story he heard somewhere. This is just what I mean. Writing it down as a note in a book does not make it true. As I said, it was said once, ppl took it for real and spread it but never there is a real source mentioned where this is to be found. See what I mean? It is a really nice story, but nevertheless nothing more than a hoax. Btw, it was nice taking the trouble sending this link.

  • Oh Yes!!!

  • pure music!

  • ive seen clapton he played a dreary 45 min. i watch rory on you tube & he smokes claptons butt. i also saw yesterday that gerry mc lives.

  • the best and he's irish which is cool :)

  • so ein scheiss!!!

  • clapton was king back in 64 and so on with cream a couple of years, but Rorys integritet is undiable. Rory is just fucking great as himselves decade after decade. Fantastic right up the mouteux takes shortly before his health failed. Enjoy and salute.

  • Damn I would choose going to Rorys concert rather than Led Zeppelin concert in their prime. And I'm for life Zepp fan.

  • just great Rory, fabulous guitar player :-)

  • Sounds even better than when we saw them at UMSU in Winnipeg in 1972??

  • This is like a rock version of Long Train Runnin'... great!

  • most under rated nigga

  • Jimi Hendrix was cited in a 1969 interview shortly after Woodstock: Interviewer: "So Jimi, what's it like to be the best guitarist in the world?" Jimi: "I dunno, ask Rory Gallagher." enough said.

  • @LilReaper608 cool ..

  • @LilReaper608

Unfortunatly thats a rumour, the same thing is said on a lot of videos by other poeple about their favourite guitarists. There is no source ever to back up that jimi hendrix story about rory, although id love it if it was true :(

  • The guy who taught me guitar put this on one night during a jam...........to say I was blown away is like saying Charlie Sheen has a butt plug for a septum. Rory many have been hailed as the greatest and maybe they were but by christ you have your place in the guitar hall of fame and there are many there who aint fit to lace your boots.

  • VIVA RORY ARRIBA, EL MEJOR, NO TODOS LO CONOCEN PERO EL QUE LO CONOCE SABE QUE ES EL MEJOR. EL MEJOR.

  • noone like RORY

  • he fuc k i n g rocks>!!!!!>> !!!!!!!!!!

  • The execution of the note followed by exelent vibrato at 5.30 made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, this is why Rory Gallagher is the greatest of all time.

  • I don't know if you beleive in the influence of "Genotypes", but... did you notice that Rory and Jimy Page (Led Zeppelin) are very alike??? It possible determined their proficiency on guitar ability and performance. What do you think? I'm a fan of the two... They both remind me my glourious teenage!!!

  • Just listen to LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO Rory on full tilt. This was the song that made me want to see him in the 70's,but live in San Francisco is possibly the best I have ever heard.

  • Also rory had a very rare acid blood type and sweat that thore down his guitars. I wonder if that could bee some of the problem regarding the complitasions of the liver trans plant? anyway a very big loss for music and as wee can see he was still rocking before the health stopped him. Im thinking about live in cork and then live at mountrøuix short before he died. sorry my english i am norwegian from blus town Bremanger(Kalvåg).

  • @Dieseldyrre " Very rare acid blood type and sweat"? Yeah, same as me.....That's why I'm bald. Nothing to do with age, wear and tear... Just my rare acidic blood type caused me to sweat hydrochloric acid...

    Yours sincerely,

    Geiger's Alien

  • Tatoo,d lady and Bad penny is some of the best rock songs from Rory but some of rorys folk and blues stuff is even better!. Sorry im too young to have seen rory live, gladly ive seen Gerry mcawoy (the legendaru rory bass player) in my hometown bremanger as Nine Below zero fronter. And also genius cover band by Tony dowler , hope i see you again in bremanger this year or in ballyshannon rory festival nexth year. Ps nexth too check out is garry mcavoys book riding shotgun with Rory,

  • Robert Plant + Jimmy Page = Rory Gallagher

  • Rory didn't play with a pick, his very soul strummed the strings in a way no one else ever has!

  • Rory's sister was my RE teacher at school.

  • the guys not even hideing behind a rack of effects , talent and confidence ,, are you listening young uns

  • Gone but never forgotten a true legend

  • R.I.P.

  • ο καλυτερος!!!

  • this is rory man !

  • 17 people dislike this.....oh my word.......

  • RIP!

  • Before 16 years music suffered a lot..One of the greatest guitarist and musicians passed away.Sometimes I think what if Rory was still alive...He could gave us more and more great songs created by his passion for music.

    14 June 1995

  • De me noiazei ti se noiazei oi dromoi pou travame!!!!

  • F******g hell, the best ever!!!!!

  • what year was this?

  • @RedRangerAidan 1988 at cork opera house

  • I f'n love this song! It was the first Rory Gallagher song I heard...and I still love it

  • While it dosn't matter, Rory uses a lot of modal playing, he prob dosn't even know it it just comes out of him. Infact I say he uses far more than hendrix, not that it matters.

  • One of the best guitarists ever. Sadly missed.

  • Look the lad is a natural or cant you tell? Rory Gallagher was one of the most gifted musicians that Ireland ever produced. And he wasnt big headed like most of his peers. Check his early days, bottle of guiness in the dressing room with his tourage and out for the gig. He just had a wonderful blues feel, and God knows where he got that from growing up in Ireland !. Dont analse it just enjoy it for what it is, brilliant music. He influenced. SKUNKSUKOFFICIAL My Space.

  • It's all Subjective, If you enjoy the music listen to it, if you don't go find something else that suits you. Theirs no best its all about whether the music moves you or not.

  • @rpby82, To address a few of your points: 1, Gary Moore was hardly a household name, Michael Shenker is hardly a household name, Uli Roth is hardly a household name but all three of them could lay waste to ANY "household name" guitarist including Hendrix (Roth's hero). 2, Music theory would tell you that this is not 12 bar or purely pentatonic, the intro should be a big clue. 3, you play? "Guitar Hero" doesn't count, sorry.

  • LMAO! you think his basic 12 bar blues wipes the floor with such influential songs as voodoo chile?? what planet are you from? rory just ruins hendrix songs on the attempts ive seen. You sir need to learn your music theory, that's if you know any at all? you are prob like most gallegher fans: middle aged, living with your mummy in her basement.

  • Comment removed

  • @rpby82 when asked how it felt to be the best guitarist in the world hendrix said dont know , ya wanna ask rory gallagher. eric clapton said this man brought him back to the blues i'm sorry but if two of the great guitarist ever said this your don't really have any place saying he is overrated .

  • Comment removed

  • @rpby82 how can you say that?????? You are obviously not a guitarist or you wouldnt even think about saying that, there are hardly any guitarists past or present fit to LICK HIS BOOTS. Troll harder you moron

  • @funtimecamo do play guitar. He's hardly a house hold name is he? would like to hear him attempt something like claptons crossroads or construct something as sophisticated and origional as voodoo chile. All he does is play standard 12 bar blues with few pentatonic licks thrown in.

  • @rpby82 why would he have to be a household name to be a great guitarist? and Tatood lady wipes the floor with crossroads or voodoo chile, as do virtually any of his songs. And 12 bar blues and pentatonic licks??? is that wat u think this is? Think ur needing to brush up on ur music theory there mate :/ stop spewing your pish talk over youtube videos if you dont know whats happening in them. sit down.

  • @rpby82 You silly little man. Most people/ guitarists will acknowledge that there ARE in fact other guitar players out there than Hendrix and Clapton. You're propably a David Gilmore fan as well?

But how on earth can you put Clapton above Gallagher? Gallagher was a much better guitar player, songwriter and most importantly...a better entertainer than Clapton!

Speaking of a basic blues song. What do you call Crossroads then??

You may not like Gallagher, but you DO NOT put Clapton above him!!!

  • @MikkelAndersen Anybody can put anybody they want at the top of their best lists. There are no absolutes; only personal favorites. Don't tell people they can't have their own favorites and bests just because they differ from yours. Jeeze.

  • @elfhermie finally someone talks sense :)

  • @MikkelAndersen couldn say it bether!but they all great in their way.....but Rory is really special and have most karizma!heheh bb

  • @MikkelAndersen LMAO - CLAPTON ABOVE RORY????? CLAPTON wouldnt even put Clapton above Rory..... I wont underestimate a good Peanut Butter and Jelly... but let's not compare it to Fillet Mignon with Mushroom Caps and a bottle of good red wine.... GEEEEZUS

  • @wolfatnight +10

  • @MikkelAndersen Cmon, what's wrong with Gilmore?

  • @MikkelAndersen dude, i really respect your opinion, but saying guitarist x is better than guitarist y (NO matter WHO it is) is the biggest crap anyway. and clapton is not better than the G (god bless him for his music) but he's different. and it's great, everyone has an own touch and sound, they have both hit wrong notes, but we shouldn't count em. brian may once said:" guitar players are humble people and it's really about ejoying each others play and not being competitive.^^

  • @GreenyIsBest i Agree

  • @rpby82 Don't be a CUNT all your life.

  • @dirtballjohnny great comeback - NOT!

  • @rpby82 L.M.F.A.O.

    G.T.F.O. M.F.

  • @theotherguy7145 great use of english - did you go to school?

  • genius, wipes the floor with clapton.

  • Theres a couple of his guitars on display in Cork city libary including a replica of this one.

  • Rory was a legend, so privliged to have seen him live 7ral times, a God given talent indeed!

  • Great version of a great song. How can (14) people NOT like this? Incredible??

  • nobody cloud toch him here! this was Rorys peak! if i can say it my self, i would give my life to se him live here!

  • Awesome........!!!

  • He is a fucking awesome performer!!! ;D

  • IRISH CAN DO BETTER

  • IRISH CAN DO IT BETTER♪

  • What I love about this artist is that I sense real living behind the sounds he is playing, women, travel, loneliness, friendship, the lot. Great stuff.

  • Does soemone know where his Strat is now ? Is there a Museum or something like that where they put Memorabilitis from Rory in ?

  • @MrAlex0262

His brother kept it (if we believe at wikipedia)

  • @ZeJeffyz Thank you

  • @MrAlex0262 one of his guitars is hanging up in a street in dublin city

  • Vintage Rory! Timeless!!

  • vintage Rory! Timeless!!

  • Thanks for the share D, liked it.

  • @enjoythesilence29

    awww , it's for us =))

  • @enjoythesilence29

Btw you still dk about my other tattoos hehe =))

  • Rory was one of the greatest blues artist I ve ever seen

Seen him a few times back in the old Deutschland

  • And Yngwie Malmsteen...

  • @Srdjanm010

    Malmsteen plays the telecaster

  • @Srdjanm010 Compared to our Rory, Malmsteen is a fagg

  • @Dennizzz119 bullshit !! , malmsteen is better than rory gallagher even though i have been a fan since i firtst picked up a guitar !! , nothing can copare to arpergios from hell or far beyond the sun !! rory is arguabley one of the best though

  • @EGPK11 Man, arpeggios are just a flashy technique that those neo-classical guitarists over use. There hundreds of bedroom players in youtube videos that pick faster and play better arpeggios than Malmsteen. Check out Rory playing slide or using hybrid picking to see how versatile he was! :)

  • @EGPK11 Teach malmsteen a new scale please.

  • @Dennizzz119 if i new him personally id love too . listen to more music idiot

  • @EGPK11 You are joking right? you have noo clue what i listen to. Last FM: Dennizzz119

Now go to your room and cry.

  • @Dennizzz119 wow u must have bad tatse in music , id suggest listening to john petrucci ,YNGWIE MALMSTEEN , dave mustaine , and even kirk hammett more . maybe ud learn something , and wow good comeback iv never felt so down and wanted to go cry in my room considering i have house dumbass !

  • @EGPK11 Well, i'd like you to back off a little mothersmistake, first of all, stay objective, music taste is personal. I know these blokes, and i dont like them, Petrucci, malmsteen, mustaine, and hammett . Music was meant to express feelings, not to show off who can play the fastest.

  • @Dennizzz119

    Hahahahahaha + 10000 dude :)

  • @EGPK11 LMAO!!!!!!

  • @Dennizzz119 Just out of curiousity, if Rory had been gay, would that have made him any less a great guitarist or good person? The "fagg" comment is pretty ridiculous. How about saying that Malmsteen lacks the heart and soul to be the kind of musician that Rory was? I was fortunate to see him one of the few times he came through Houston and it still stands as one of the best concerts I've experienced in nearly 40 years. Got to meet him-a very kind man.

  • @Srdjanm010 I think we can put Mark Knopfler in the list.

  • the greats always die young :(

  • @irishsmurf2008 Mr Roy Buchanan

  • Oh Rory you were the greatest :-( ... See you in Heaven buddy ...

  • inoubliable Rory!!!

  • How on earth could some wankers actually give this a thumbs down? Wasnt it loud enough? Then turn it up. This song cannot be played too loud. There is one other version of this that I heard, another live gig here on youtube, that is pretty fukin hot also. He played them all differently each time. Virtuoso doesnt get close. My favorite, who care about best. These vids and the whole medium have given me something I didnt think I would ever have again, to see Rory play. Thanks to all the posters!

  • nous ne t'oublierons jamais Rory

  • what a play i've heard this song played by him so many times but its says in message at cork opera house "I'm home" thats what it is.. he was so great.. greatness beyond greatness even his own people corkonians don't appreciate how great he was but me a fellow cork man does without doubt

  • Ritchie Blackmore was no slouch.

  • AAAAAOOUUUUU teleio!!!!!!!!That's the best way to start your Sunday morning

  • 63 years after Rory's birth...We won't forget...

  • Bend at 5:31 made cum buckets, absolutely depleted, until the bend at 5:33 where Rory said, I'll make you cum even more.

  • did a cover of this back in the 70s, couldnt touch this though. when I worked at gibson it pissed off my boss cause I had a pic of rory playin that strat on my work bench lol

  • Eargasim!!

  • to intro ta spaei!!!

  • thank you for posting this....im 48 and always loved this sound....from belfast, gary moore just died, but all the music lives on.......apart from the crap.......great band giggin' somewhere

  • same guitar tru life, I bet he got burried with that guitar.

  • oops sorry r i p big man

  • looks like same guitar as 1974 tour in belfast both doing well ??

  • boys and girls

    just check this :

Double Vision ...... Rory Gallagher In Belfast

  • why has no one for the last 3 days spoken english

  • @bass4life1000

Think we just got invaed by the Russians..lol :)

  • @bass4life1000

Think we just got invaded by the Russians..lol :)

  • 3 guys who can (could) make a strat sound like nothing else in this world - Rory G, SRV and David Gilmour. Nobody can touch them when it comes to making a strat sing. The sound of Rory's busted old strat in this vid is just beautiful. A few bars it is crystal clear, then it starts to break up a little and then we get full blown down and dirty power before the magic we hear in the solo; seemingly all with a twist of the volume knob and a flick of the selector switch. Amazing.

  • + Richie Blackmore

  • @christospantsoo yep I would have to agree with you there Ritchie has magic fingers as well; shame he never seems to pick up his strat anymore.

  • @tubbybasset Uhhh, Jimi Hendrix?

  • @tubbybasset Uhhh, I understand Jimi Hendrix was pretty good, too.

  • @dantean yep he was pretty good too but as the story goes when Jimi was asked what does it feel like to be the best guitarist in the world he replied "I don't know you would have to ask Rory Gallagher". Besides bro it was not meant to be an exhaustive list just 3 players I like.

Jimi was a great player and has influenced generations of guitar players (David Gilmour uses Jimi's guitar strap) but I just don't think he is in the same league as Gilmour et al. But you are free to disagree. Peace.

  • @tubbybasset Jimi was famously modest. The idea of his "not being in the same league with David Gilmour," however, is amazing 2 me. JH changed everything. Everything. Gilmour, by contrast, is merely great. You are free to disagree--not just with me, but with every guitar player--and countless other instrumentalists--since. For what it's worth, I am more inclined to value Miles Davis,' Eric Clapton's, John Frusciante's, Mick Jagger's, Stevie Wonder's etc opinions over those of others.

  • @dantean David Gilmour embodies the very essence of guitar playing; he transcends greatness. I could give you a list of platitudes about David from other musicians as long as your arm. Anyway, I don't disagree with you about Jimi he was a great player, still influential decades after his death, a pioneer, a genius, a prodigy, bloody hell, I said it was not an exhaustive list just 3 players I like. Jimi is in the same league as the 3 players I mentioned, ok? Eric Clapton on the other hand..... ;)

  • @tubbybasset one of d greatest gilmour but gallagher turned down d best to do his own thing

  • @tubbybasset well, add jeff beck and we're cool

  • @thailow117 haha - Jeff Beck of course, that is fair enough. we're cool. While I am at it let me add - Eric Johnson - one of the most dedicated and talented strat players alive.

  • @tubbybasset EJ, check, of course :-)

  • @tubbybasset You really forgot to listen to Jeff Beck,, my favorite "strat player" btw. Irish tour is much better played version...

  • @tubbybasset

at least you forgot to mention Jimi H. and Jeff B. (and, yes, Mark K.) ! Anyway, different Strat players, different sounds! Always remember: there is NO BEST GUITARIST.

  • @carlolf I didn't forget, I said it was not an exhaustive list just 3 strat I players I love to listen to, especially David Gilmour. I certainly did not say they are the "best guitarists". I was really commenting on the superb tone Rory gets out of his strat. Maybe I went too far in saying "nobody can touch them" There are countless strat players who are technically more proficient than the 3 I mentioned but when it comes to tone and melody, well, what can I say that has not already been said.

  • @tubbybasset

    What about Mr. Hendrix?
