"How ignorant you are, my friend... The song was inspired by the novel 'L'étranger' ('The Stranger'), written by French writer Albert Camus. Nothing to do with racism or Western policy towards Arabs or Muslims... Please check your sources before posting."
how could this stupid band be so racist? killing an arab? Im going to ban this video for hate speech how could they brag about something like that! i dont know how no one else is complaning about this horrible song.
@guitaHer099 as mentionned by others, read a novel called "the stranger" by Albert Camus and you'll understand the meaning of the song which is also the underlying theme of the book :"whatever i choose it amounts to the same, absolutely nothing" ... as you're not the only one having difficulties in understanding more than one sentence in a song, they've changed the title. if you'd opened your ears, you'd hear that he's actually saying "killing another". Is your self righteous conscience happy ?
@hadaya60 Listen here sir, I am arab myself and I dont appreciate you suggesting that I can't read just because I am arab. I really dont understand what a book about internet safety has to do with this awful racist excuse for music but I hope that someday this murderous band decides to start killing bigoted people like you.
Wow,I really cant believe he changed the lyrics of this song just to apease the ignorant opinions of people who havn't read Camus and have no idea of existentialism, the basis of the novel "The Stranger" and the song "Killing an Arab".
Cowards. I thought they had b's. Changing the name becuase some people don't get it or are offended. Wah wah wah. Well they are old farts now so they must be slowing down and are just like everyone else now.
NO NO NO!!!!! this song is about racism, every thing on youtube is about racism the cure are racist, its verry clear, just listen to their other music,"lullaby, pictures of you, love cats, catch, hot hot hot,"racism i tell ya!
@raunchy1313 This song isn't about racism, its about a book called 'the stranger'. The Cure are an amazing band and their songs "lullaby, pictures of you, love cats, catch and hot hot hot" have absolutely nothing to do with racism. Are you really that ignorent?
@raunchy1313 its almost impossible to tell if someones being sarcastic on the internet. and there are alot of morons who think this is a racist song... so sorry for the confusion.
Yep, the song is based on Camus's 'l'etranger' and the main character shoots this Algerian guy on a beach. Camus spent his time fighting inequalities between Europeans and 'natives' in Algeria, and he was just the exact opposite of a racist. Everything is so PC nowadays it's crazy! Apparently the song is now called 'killing another' but was called 'kissing an Arab' once...
Grah, I don't see why everyone has to be so sensitive. I mean, it's just a song, not some sort of way of saying I want to murder all you or something. Also, of course "Killing a Jew" because since the war most countries are sensitive since the Holocaust. But, make it Killing a Brit or Killing an American and I don't think people would have cared much. I just don't see why people get so hurt when that only facilitates more taunting. >_>
I understand that this video is taken from Albert Camus novel, but the song title" killing an Arab" should have never been used. The Rock & roll teenagers do not understand Albert Camus, but they do understand racist hatred. If the words were "kiling a Jew", no studio would have recorded it and it will not be sold in the mainstream media.
Right like 99% of the depictions of Arabs and Muslim in Western movies for the last 110 year.
The western media under the guidance of pro Zionest Movie maker and policy makers is always depicting Arabs and Muslims as criminals, animal and enemies, but on the other hand if you say anything bad about Jews your anti Semitic or a NAZI and your subject o harassment and jailing in most western nations...
that's why he sings "killing another" nowadays, not "an arab" anymore, because it became politically incorrect. Even though it has nothing to do with what poeple who don't like The Cure think...
How ignorant you are, my friend... The song was inspired by the novel 'L'étranger' ('The Stranger'), written by French writer Albert Camus. Nothing to do with racism or Western policy towards Arabs or Muslims... Please check your sources before posting.
Well Jerry Assuming your a Christian, why don't you go live in a Christian country?
And if you Say Canada is a Christian country I'll just say thats nonsence. If this was a CHRISTAIN country you would have CHRISTAIN laws instead of SECULAR laws.
Ignorants who think this song is racist or in some other way offensive, should really start reading books instead of posting stupid comments on YouTube.
I'm standing on the beach With a gun in my hand Staring at the sea Staring at the sand Staring down the barrel At the Arab on the ground See his open mouth But I hear no sound chorus: I'm alive I'm dead I'm the stranger Killing an Arab
"The song 'Killing an Arab' has absolutely no racist overtones whatsoever. It is a song which decries the existence of all prejudice and consequent violence. The Cure condemn its use in furthering anti-Arab feeling."
'Killing an Arab' is a two-and-a-half-minute version of the central incident from 'L'Etranger', the Albert Camus novel that became an existentialist tract.
This song has been mis-used in the past by racist idiots but is not meant to be racist.
Nice video. I was there for the show and I just remember after the last song, Robert thanked the audience, walked from one stage to the other with hand on his heart, looking at the crowd in all directions and finally giving a two handed thumbs-up sign for everyone present! You have captured all this footage! Thanks for that.
thank you very much for posting this spectacular ending. by the way, how was getting out of the wembley stadium - getting into your car, driving home, etc? was traffic bad?
Love the way he lingers around on stage for a short while at the end, he did that at the concert I went to as well. Just taking in the terrific mood, giving the audience one last look goodbye...until next time! :) Seems like it was a great concert, great crowd. God I wanna go again...

"THE CURE - Killing An Arab"
How else are peoplesupposed to look at it?

I can turn
And walk away
Or I can fire the gun
Staring at the sky
Staring at the sun
Whichever I choose
It amounts to the same
Absolutely nothing
chorus

I feel the silver jump
Down smooth in my hand
Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring down myself
Reflected in the eyes
Of the dead man on the beach
(Dead man on the beach)
chorus

I believe he's actually singing "I am the stranger killing another". He's changed the lyrics he sings due to political controversy.
He first changed it to "kissing an Arab" and then to "another". I definitely like it better this way.
