Lemme guess your problem, you have a memory card that has a TON of memory but it's unreliable and it's memory gets erased almost every year and you don't trust your' chao with that memory card. I had the same problem. Just find one on eBay no one really bids on them anymore.

I wish I had the original SA2, cause I have a Dreamcast and SA1, but... The chao system in the Dreamcast SA1, the chao system is made of... Hmn.. Chao writhe on the ground like a repetitive crying baby, chao waggle arms for hug, chao cower in fear, chao eat, chao jump for joy, chao evolve/die, and revive. I have plainly seen that SA2 even on the Dreamcast has a far better chao system set up. SA1 DC you cant whistle, and the chao dont flee in fear. I ENVY YOU TOO MUCH! SOMEBODY STOP ME! Good vid.

Correct - but once it finally evoles into dark/run/run you can give it any drives - and it wont kill if you give it some other drves
