Warning to all Captains and Commanders: Don`t try this with your Battlestar! This maneuver causes major damage to your ship. Use it only if you have no alternatives or if you want to end your career on a high note. ;-)
It is good to find an unsullied upload, but is there one with the bit if dialogue preceding it. It needs to have Boomer say Adamas' back and the Cylons realise something is not right. Is this on here?
There's an awful lot of that now isn't it? And what's this thing coming toward me very fast? So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like 'Ow', 'Ownge', 'Round', 'Ground'! That's it! Ground! Ha! I wonder if it'll be friends with me? Hello Ground!
Just as brilliant when Capt Marco Ramius turned into the first torpedo, closing the distance to smash it against the Red October's nose before it could arm.
This is the single, greatest, most epic, scene I've ever seen in any television series, much less movie. The author definitely thought outside of the box in this episode, and I have to say it upset me a little when the people returned to the fleet that they weren't a little more appreciative of the suicidal bravado of Adama.
In the Halo Universe, the Covenant jumped above a city and the wave took the city with it. That much mast is going to generate a huge boom them it leaves.
Exodus part 2 is my favorite episode of BSG. Just seeing the Galactica falling, launcing vipers, then jumping back out is so amazing. Then it just tops itself by having the Pegasus save the Galactica then destroying itself and taking out two base-stars. That, is how you make a great scene.
About damn time we see an actual clip with no music covering the audio of the original. 5/5 / subscribe. Kudos to you poster for not ruining a perfectly good video clip with stupid music.
@theawesomone Technically, the Galactica isn't able to pull off the Picard Maneuver; although the same could be said of the Enterprise and the Adama Maneuver.
@UNspacycadet Well, to be fair, Galactica DID pull off the important part of the Picard maneuver in the last two-parter: Jumping into an enemys face and friring everything they had. The other part is just to lose a target lock of a superior foe for a split second, anyway.
And depending on how seriously you take the concept of warp drives... The Enterprise performing the Adama manuever might rip apart the planet beneath it. So it's possible, but not advisable. ;)
Try watching it through again... I found on a second play through I realised I missed a lot of the important story bits that really tie the show's plot together... I loved it the first time round, but the on the second watchthrough it blew me away!
@TheDashRendar Agreed, I am watching the whole show through and seasons 1-3 have been brilliant, amazing, it completely blows the Stargates and Star Treks out of the sky in every single way, but towards the end of season 3 things started getting preposterous. There's a reason Gene Roddenberry kept religion out of TOS and TNG; in BSG, religion completely twists the show into a bizarre, drug-induced ghost of itself, and season 4 is pretty disappointing.
@PsychoPoet406 Honestly I'm a very rational minded person and I felt like this show was being twisted by religion from very early on, but I learned to just stop trying to enjoy it as science fiction and more just enjoy it as a mythological epic like the Iliad and it has worked wonders for allowing me to just enjoy it on its own level.
My total FAVE moment in the whole series. Been looking for this for a while on youtube, nice one d4rkd4nger! Quality work! Gives me goosebumps every time! Epic episode!
I remember yelling at the television when this scene happened. I remember my parents ran into the room wondering why I was yelling, and telling them that it was something in Battlestar Galactica, and they would know when they watched it.
I also remember them yelling at the TV the next evening.
I don't normally leave comments on Youtube but I feel compelled to do so for this. One of the greatest moments in the greatest sci-fi show of all time....I could watch this over and over
I'm sure you can't find that in any books for training.. the stress alone.. what guts that took to bring it through the atmosphere like that. They say you should know the ship "like the back of your hand" to use a bad pun.. that proves it.. he knew it'd do it. Just an amazing clip and thanks so much for the great post of it for us fans! :)
I'm not sure... is this more or less hull stress than the direct nuclear strike Galactica absorbed during the pilot miniseries? As I understand it, a nuke in space would mainly be an intense burst of X-rays. The "spectacular" effects seen in vids are from its interaction with the atmosphere, but in a vacuum the radiation could go a lot further. Which do you think would be worse?
Hey, could you PLEASE upload the part where the Galactica is getting nailed by the four battlestars and where Pegasus shows up, without any music overlay? I would REALLY appreciate it!
The cast, the story, the special effects, the sets, the film and sound editing. The New Battlestar Galactica is the most realistic sci-fi series ever!!
