  • wow, haven't thought of WQDR in years. the x-teens popped into my head a little while ago, thinking of the song on mondo montage. lo and behold, i find this. rawk!

  • What a find!! Yes those were the days, I miss WQDR and the great on air talent like Tom Guild, Daniel Brunty, Tom Gongaware. I saw a few of these bands live at what was once The Monarch in Fayetteville.

  • Now those were the days of true rock & roll in Raleigh. I used to listen to these bands on WQDR when radio was real, and the stations could play music that local bands made. Thanks for taking me back to college!!!

  • dB's!!

  • Can you post the whole Fabulous Knobs video? Does anyone have any 3PM footage or jazz shows from Cafe DejaVu? Thanks Comboland!

  • Flashback....3 for 5 live...I belive it was 1983, in the Raleigh Civic Center...Glass Moon...Doc Holiday...Nantucket...

Does anyone know where i can find a copy of Modern Medicine?

  • WOW! Thank you for sharing this awesome montage of the 80's Raleigh Music scene. A RaleighMusic dot com member posted the links this morning on our site. I sure hope you are able to get what you need for the documentary! Good luck, and stop by our site some time! Peace out.

  • This makes me feel so young. More Mondo Forever.

  • Oh wow, I was born 20 years too late. Thanks for posting this...how awesome. Arrogance & Spongetones & dB's = amazing!!!

  • man, i felt like i was at the Pier, Free Advice, Cradle,

Switch, Bears Den all at the same time. especially loved Arrogance on the "Barney's Army " show on WPTF-TV. like Rockin Ron, i used a play many of these bands on WQDR in the early 80s...all on cool black

    VINYL ..snap, crackle, pop !!!!

  • WOW! I remember all those places! Blast from the past indeed!

Thanks, for a rock down memory lane!

  • What a blast to see all of these segments. My pals and I played most of these bands on WQDR back in the day when you could do such a thing on commercial radio. These were great days of Triangle rock & roll.

  • I saw the Spongetones 586,943 times. No lie. Hell I saw them do Strawberry Fields Forever 9,567 times.

  • Whoah. Amazing, but where's Sugarcreek? The Vandals? Lizzy Borden! The Federal Bureau of Rock n' Roll! The Happy Eggs!

  • Great stuff! I can almost smell the sweat at Friday's, the Secret Garden, etc., etc. Thanks so much for posting this. I hope this doc comes together.

  • Awesome! No I have to look some of these obscurities up...

  • See you at Chess King! By the Record Bar™!

  • O, Eighties!
