I think it's possible to do 41. That one punch you threw that he blocked shaved a second off your time.

I've been much much faster in other attempts at beating 42 seconds, and believe me, I was 1 punch from getting him down before he does his special back move, and since my last punch before it was a punch that you normally cannot throw at him, the effect of it would result in a 43 seconds knockdown or win, since that last punch would make him do his special back move start a second later. ;)

There are only 4 times on the US version of this game that you can Glass Joe will stay down on the first KO. The times are 42:00, 42:25. 43:00. and 43:25

I just beat him in 42 seconds too, same technique except I punched the jaw instead of the body. I wonder if you need to hit him the instant he returns to the front in order to get the KO

Actually, it's not guaranteed you'll KO him everytime like this. I've played Punchout countless times and half the time you knock him down at the :42 second mark, gets up after a 1 count.

Something that's bugged me for ages. I know how to do that one-hit knockdown. How do you get him to *stay down*? The vast majority of the time, he gets up on 1. I think I've managed to keep him down, like, three times ever, and I have no illusions that it was anything other than sheer luck. Is it always?

I don't know exactly myself, but hitting once on his gloves is something I think increases our chances of knocking him out with that single knockdown... I always finish him with a hit to the body too. ;)

I find if you throw a few empty punches after he backs up and taunts you, then hit him in the gut as he comes towards you. That keeps him down.

It's all the timing on when you hit him. There's a very small window in which he'll block, or KO, or get up on 1. Kingdomhearts has very good videos if you're interested in learning more about the game.
