1) There's something called a synchronization license that appears to cover playing a song along with a video - that might allow you to post to YouTube. No idea what it would cost.
2) What if you made a video in which you TAUGHT your viewers how to play Funky Town? Would you then be covered under that elusive beast, "Fair User for Educational Purposes"?
Actually I am reading up on synchronization licenses at the moment; it's a bit over my head but I'll keep at it until it starts penetrating my skull.
The Funkytown Educational video? Hmmmm... I definitely won't count that out! I wish my own students were more outgoing - some of them should make their own Funkytown videos!
I looked into just this question a little while back and according to BMI, they will not license the rights to individuals for posting to places like youtube or myspace. The license would have to be acquired by the owners of Youtube.
Excellent! I really do hope that this doesn't prove to be too much of a hassle. Also, might I add, that you have excellent video presence. Simple, open, and a dash of humor. Good job!
Hurrah for Kitten on the Keys.

All right. We need to get down to business. Does anyone have any ideas of where Ned can start his copyright permission journey?
