@Sorstalan My comment has disappeared from this video for some reason... Anyway, Könni was a place and the first smiths werent named Könni, they came after.
But Könni is a real family (I think its still well alive).
This is a one of most popular folklores in Finland.
könnin kuokkamies was a mechanical worker or a robot. it was built for a work in farm. the legend says,it drowned because the man who was operating it falled a sleep and didn't turn it when the field ended. (sorry for mistakes,my english isn't very good because im finnish :P )
its just the old fans complaining about how melodic they turned. also not as many grwols n screams. i like both, and this album is far away from being bad.
I'd figure it is the old fear of change. This album is very _different_ from the old albums, but it is still very nice. Same things go for Eisregen, Nightwish, Aporeiter... all of these have new albums with drastic changes in style, which are good, but vastly different from the old things. Even further, look at e.g. people who heavily dislike the internet for no reason, just because it is new and different. *sight*.
Kickass song! :D There are many Ostrobothnian (Western-Finnish) legends about Könni´s mechanical mattockman from the eve of the steam engine era.
According to folklore, the poor robot drowned into a river, because the farmhand fell asleep and did not turn around the machine in time when it reached the end of the field.

Ahem. Tales about smith Könni consisted of just one mythical character, not entire family.

How come as bands progress and get better and better further into their career they get more naysayers and haters? This is a great album!

I agree with you Bubblefish, change is so hard for so many people to deal with. Alhough I wouldn't really consider the Internet "new"....
