Excellent upbeat song. I have to hit the "mute" button for the very irritating Randy Newman theme. I liked Bitty better too; her trashiness was a good counterpoint to Monk's buttoned-up persona.

I like both.  The first sounds kind of Bay Area and relaxing, but the second one really hits the mark as far as Monk and his personality. It's one of the few times I actually like Randy Newman!

I'm glad they did the new theme and kept the original at the end.

(Actually this has happened a lot, tons of TV shows with the most well known themes had less catchy themes in the first season... I dream of Jeannie, MAGNUM P.I., even The Twilight Zone!!!!

i never really liked Bitty Schram in Monk. Alot of her character attributes just didnt make sense as something that monk could put up with.

Traylor's character Natalie was a lot better imo.

@ZanderTHV But Sharona (Bitty) was supposed to be uniquely different so that the storyline and everything would go because Natalie was supposed to be different because if they were the same, eh. IMO, Sharona was better than Natalie because she was funny and they seemed like the best team tbh. @Kine1992 Actually, I like "It's a jungle out there" better as the theme song. It fits with Mr Monk much better than this one. However, were I to choose between the two to put on my iPod, I agree; I'd definitely choose this one over "It's a Jungle Out There."

It's a jungle out there will forever and always be the true theme song to Monk, in my opinion. I mean, there's a reason it was the theme song for 7 of the 8 seasons. But that isn't to say I'm not a fan of this.

in one episode producers made a joke out of the whole situation. Episode was about a case in which producers of fake show changed theme song of series making fans mad. At the end old theme appered :)

This is the song that always put a smile on my face the second it started. I always smiled back at Monk after he flossed his tooth and smiled in the mirror. It makes sense why they changed it though, because somebody would be murdered in the beginning of the show, and then this song comes on and just makes you want to smile right after haha.

@Kine1992 songs can be better than others?^^ Well look at both songs in harmony and on how complex the harmonies are, and you would come to the conclusion that "It' s jungle out there" is ten times more complicated and, frankly, quite genius. But I don't care how complex or hard-to-play songs may be, I love them both in an appropriate manner. (btw. I can play them both on the piano ;) )

I liked the build up of the ending, but it felt like something was missing.

He was deathly ill, they reveal the antidote to him, and it cuts to him being perfectly healthy. No fighting to survive. What about rushing him to the hospital?

The suspense just got cut away.

Last year. I watched the final episode and was pretty happy with the way the show ended. There were one or two things I would have liked to have seen happen and maybe does if they decide to make MONK the movie. lolol...I don't know that they will do that but it'd be interesting if they did, such as seeing Monk and Natalie get married.
