The Kandahar Reel was adapted for country dancers by the RSCDS and you can order a copy of the publication containing their instructions along with the original version, music and history of the reel from their website, which is being sold in aid of ABF The Soldiers Charity.
This is a video of the first time the Kandahar Reel was danced in public. It is during the Officers' Mess Home Coming Ball at Fort George, Inverness on return of The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland from their seven month tour of Southern Afghanistan.
The first two men dancing are the devisors of the reel and those around them are the unfortunates who were pressganged into 'demonstrating' the new reel to the cheering observers.
Check out the version demonstrated by Corryvrechan at the Llangollen International Festival in July 2010. We were lucky to have one of the devisers, Captain Andy Colquhoun, dance with us during our rehearsals... (just search for 'Corryvrechan')
you can find the band at schiehallion.info

How many tunes are in this? I know I've heard the first 2, but I don't recognize anything after that. Does anyone know what the tunes are?
