I remember the ringing tone of Billy's guitar filling the arena during live shows back then. Those incredible blues rock notes... Absolutely spellbinding. What a combo Billy and Hughie were...
Im pretty sure this is the show I saw at the old Music Hall in downtown Houston,at least the year is right. Wow I was about 18 then an now im over 50..OUCH!!. Those were the days of real rock n roll bands and southern rock was really big.
@kmars21 Been there before my friend. I saw the Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, 38 Special and Charlie Daniels at Sunshine Jam back in 1976. Skynyrd was a no show. It was a benefit concert for Jimmy Farter. Our former worst President. The convert was at the GATOR BOWL in Jacksonville FL.
Thanks for posting this, don't care about the sound quality as much as being able to see classic footage of a great band I love. Used to see this band a lot in the 70's and 80's and every show was amazing. MrEdwards629 is right-Hughie and Billy were THE Outlaws.
@Patfaki nice post. Billy and i were friends when i left Emerson Collage in Boston to travel and take pictures for them. We played guitars in hotel rooms. To see this video blows my mind! lm now 51 yrs old and look back at how lucky i was. does anybody know how to get this on DVD ? obviously it exists. l miss him and it pains me to think how he passed away. l reconnected with Hughie before his passing and still have all his voice messages on my phone. lts just so sad these guys are gone.
Funny!H.T.,always said one day the outlaws will ride again!Im sure he meant with him in it!Ive heard some of the new stuff,& was impressed,& have always been a henry paul fan.i wish him luck,& hope this dont all turn into another skynyrd situation! But there will never be a soul in the outlaws like you see here!!!Hughie & billy!!!!!
The interplay of Billy's distinct blues style and Hughie's shredding was amazing. I saw them live many times back in the days, I'm blessed to say. Sad that they are both gone. Never forgotten, and never equaled.
First of all, thank you very much for posting this. "Song For You" is easily one of my favorite Outlaws tunes. I have been waiting to see this song, from this time period, for a long time...so, again, thank you very much. Hughie and Billy were phenomenal. Billy's tone on this tune is epic.
Thanks damulder! This is one of my favorites.Really love these clips with the old line up ,saw them so many times during these years! I just can't get enough of rewatching the awesome Billy Jones play,RIP.
This song is one of my favorites from my favorite OUTLAWS-album : Bring it back alive. So I'am sureley a longtime-fan. Hughie and Billy: amazing.

I think Chris Anderson does Billy proud. The new band is more country, but the original band was pretty country too. I like it.

This is vintage Outlaws. To see Hughie and Billy, and hear them together, from that period, is special.
