Good news!

The Council has finally relented, & withdrawn their ridiculous Infringement Notice. They have now finally determined: "a number of 'off site' inspections (by Council Officers) of the property has determined that the structure is being used as a carport, therefore Council proposes to take no further compliance action in relation to this matter. Therefore, Infringement Notice 20954 ...for $2,000 has been cancelled."

What a trauma, Council Officers have done to these decent people!!

We have similar bureaucrats in America. A little authority affects the mind, and not for the good.

Yes Clearthink. It does seem to be a worldwide disease in various bureaucracies of this world. Sometimes, as one of their defences, they simply pull up their drawbridge and try to hide away from the public eye, from their "dirty deeds done dirt cheap".

So, a little highlighting of their misdemeanors on the media, doesn't go astray at times, when it has to be used.

Don't these council guys know the very codes and specs they are trying to enforce?

Goverment bodies are voted in by the PEOPLE, to protect and uphold the fabric of modern civilization....

Clearly this particular group has forgotten their purpose.... Time to vote them out, they no longer have the communities best interests at heart...

Yes, there is a wrong culture problem in the Council at present of authoritarianism & cronyism and the citizens are fed up with it.

Only a few councillors on the Council, are aware of the problem, but don't seem to have gathered much traction, in getting the arrogancy & bullying fixed.

As you say, a number of Councillors are marked for being voted out next time.

Perhaps a few 10's of thousands of letter box fliers will do it.
