  • Indeed, sir. My theory is that their harmonic/melodic sense is obvious even in the early stuff. I'm currently looking at 'I Should Have Known Better' and 'Please Please Me.' In the former |2: (C) Can't you see (B7) (Em)that when I (C) tell you that I (G)love you Oh(B7) ... and the latter, the last five chords of the song (a B note sung over E G Cma7 B7 E).

  • @tallrnmost Absolutely. I love how they go between extremely chordal parts (we'll take Please Please me as the example), such as most of the verse and the entire chorus, and throw in that little G-A-B power chord riff in there; the ending you reference is another example. You can definitely see it in their earlier work. And of course once they got more comfortable incorporating the "stranger" progressions, shall we say, well... then we end up with a brilliant album like Sgt Peppers. Good times!

  • That song has got a seriously strange chord progression. You did a great job.

  • @tallrnmost Hey thanks buddy. Yeah it's definitely got some crazy progressions going on, but that's what makes it great right?
