The thing about this scene is the way the wacky old grandfather pours himself into this role with that much enthusiasm, and selflessness. He helps out his family, because that is what he enjoys doing, no matter what it is that is required.
His part in Densha Otoko (the TV series version), although sparse, is also quite good.
