My husband has just been diagnosed with early stages of Dementia of the Alzhiezmers type. He's just started on Aricept. Did you try that first? How is your progress now?
God bless you, hope there has been improvement. I'll keep looking at your videos.
I'm SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS! GOD BLESS YOU BOB! I'm also broken hearted though:( it's way too late for my grandma. She's had it for 16 years. I'd love to have a husband like you Bob!
Truth is, we are lucky to have each other. Her demeanor is still happy and her smile can light up a room. Alas, the speech has gone again, and there is a slow erosion of other functions, like coming down stairs. I need to hold her hand now and prompt her to take each step. But she smiles at the bottom like she is saying "look what I did!"
Amazing... please keep posting your progress, Bob and Linda. I am very impressed. Although I have no one near to me with Alzheimer's, I have worked with a few people that had it. What a sad and cruel disease. Linda is so young and such a lovely woman. I will pray she comes back to you. God Bless!
Wow, I am amazed and thrilled to see such an enormous response! It's like a door is being unlocked. Linda's laughter is such a sweet gift, and I am so happy to see her smiles!
Linda herself must be thrilled to be able to communicate a little bit better each day... I can't wait to see what's next!
Your strength and persistence, Bob, are what are making this possible. My love to you and Linda both.
By the way, I think you and your son should lay off the nose pulling. I know that you want to stimulate her to respond, I think there must be better ways.
We have. Now we simply say "pull your nose" and the verbal cue starts her vocalization. While the nose pulling seems a bit cruel, it was annoying not painful, and the stimulous unlocked some portion of her Alzheimer'ed brain and out fell some words. Now she seems to have retained those pathways and we are working on others.
Wonderful Bob. I'm the guy (different persona) you replied to on .support. I recognise all the looks - and the amazing improvement. You're a wonderful role model for every partner/carer. Love to Linda and heart goes out to you and family.
As I reach for a tissue.. I just have to say that there is a special place in Heaven for people like you, Bob.
Your task is NOT easy. Perhaps most difficult is caring for your wife with a smile. The sweet things you say ARE heard.
There is a special place in Heaven for you.
I can only hope that things continue to get better and better with this treatment ...and that what needs to happen, with this drug and the FDA, happens.
You are reaching people... please continue. You may move the world.

Thanks for the info. Best of luck to you and your family. I've been down this road with parents and know how difficult all of this is.
