03:55 I think at this moment the writers could have been thinking of Nazi germany directly after thier defeat. A nation of widows and destroyed cities, millions dead. And in the end they brought that calamity upon themselves, by allowing men like Dukat to take power and ultimitely morgage thier future to the Dominion. A brutal lesson to be learned from our own history.
Kirk may be the first, Picard may be, like, all Shakespearean and stuff... Janeway may be an Admiral, but Sisko became a GOD (at least for a few months in linear time) ! Take that!
what kind of treaty is that? how do they know who signed? the founders don't have names just founder's and the vorta is like vorta 7 and vorta 4 no names it does not make sense
That whole formal surrender ceremony was such a farce. While the Federation Admiral is giving his solemn speech, she's inwardly laughing. Countless millions of 'solids' died on all sides and what does she care, she's got the cure to save her precious link which is what really matters, right?
That Klingon toasting over the joy dead bodies reminds me of how inhuman somepeople are when one drinks the cup of victory the other the cup of defeat. Like the end of ww2.
Better to toast to a hard fought victory over the corpses of the vanquished, or even to die in battle than to slowly waste away to old age and disease. Maybe I'm half-Klingon, but I think raising a drink to celebrate the fact one still draws breath is as good an excuse as any.
Atleast the Cardassians are majorly FUCKED for decades, if not centuries. In fact, logic would dictate they will likely never be a major force again--unless they make HUGE progress in very little time. They lost almost everything and have to rebuild from almost scratch. Deserved and lesson learned: don't fuck with Bajor, and don't fuck with the Fed, heinous reptilians.
@Mineav though the lust for vengeance often generates such thoughts, this is not remotely the theme I sense through the last dozen episodes. They're sick of the fighting, sick of the killing. All but the Dominion and their slaves. This is the entire Alpha Quadrant against the Dominion, and once it is eradicated, the hatreds and rivalries between the factions must cease before it returns.
And incidentally, history teaches that Cardassia WOULD become a major power once again.
@Mineav Not likely, they betrayed the dominion and made a decisive victory possible. Although prolly being spited upon for their actions, i'd say theres a 99% chance that the kind hearted feds helped the cardassians rebuilt.
What did they do ban the net in the 24th Century? Kai Winn and Gul Du Kat had to use books to find the pa wraiths. Something like that would be on every IPad floating shelf.
The part with the defiant getting Destroyed had already happend, hadnt it? Since they fiksed the problem with them taking out the federation, and Romulan ships. A little bad to have that clip here, but else this serie is ok.
@jesh010 The part where she says all the Cadassians dies is from another episode. Notice they are on a ship and he is wearing a different outfit. That episode was the one where the Romulan Tal Shiar and Cardassian Obsidian order attacked the Dominion and their fleets were wiped out. It was a trap setup up by the Dominion.
I like how you do this Great Link. Especially given the fact that Spike TV didn't show this scene where Bashir talks to Garak about the Cardassian casualties. If I were Bahsir in that scene I would have told Garak, I think I'm going to throw up, after seeing all the Cardassians murdered by the Dominion. Just like the Axis in WWII, I relish seeing the Dominion lose and surrender like the Axis did.
when the Dominion surrendered, the Jem'Hadar ships were ordered to leave orbit of Cardassia Prime one by one, and each ship had to eject its weapons systems before heading toward the bajoran wormhole under escort and back to the Gamma Quadrant.
Weapons? keep in mind, Voyager returned to the Alpha Quadrent with weapons from the future. Transphasic Torpedos, that armor technology, and prohaps the Stealth systems they spoke about.
@asuch874 The Dominions weapons were not that much more advanced than the Federations and the Federation learned how to counter them. Federation have Quantum Torpedoes, high-Yeild Phaser Cannons, Tri-Cobalt devices and so. The Federations weapons are equaly comparable as the Defiant was more than match for most Dominion ships and she was armed with the Feds best weaponry and defensive systems.
Another thing I noticed. This is the first time we see two different Vorta in the same scene at the same time. Think about it, have we ever seen two Vorta in the same room at the same time?
Worst....ending...ever. Took everything known about the Dominion and threw it out the window. They should have had them fight to the end in order to bleed the Alliance and in the end ruin them. If they had it would have taken centuries for the Alpha Quadrant powers to recover. Even if the Founders died out, the Jem'Hadar and the Vorta could have been ordered to seek revenge even if it took thousands of years for them to finally get back to the Alpha Quadrant via conventional means.
@Fbueller129 It would only take the klingon empire 10 years to fully recover from the losses and The Federation and the Romulans were in a far better state apparanlty. The Cardassian Union was destroyed and that was their own fault and Cardassia was being occupied by Allied forces. It would'nt take centrurys for them to recover lol. Like I said the longest was the Klingons and they still made many ships. 3 years later The Federation had got most of it's power back.
@pepelepew2006 The Cardassians got what they deserved. I would of trusted the Dominion as far as I could throw them. In fact I would be tempted to go through that wormhole with a fleet and fuck them up in their territory. Hell Voyager with it's armor upgrades stood up to 3 Tactical Borg Cubes, Imagine what It would do to the Dominion.
@NANOFORGE Get destroyed by a Jem'Hadar kamikaze? Besides, the armor and torpedoes hadn't even been invented yet.
Dominion territory is heavily fortified, they have the home field advantage, and their primary production centers. You wouldn't get ten parsecs from the wormhole. Also, the Romulan and Cardassian secret police forces sent a fleet to "fuck them up in their own territory". Remember what happened to them?
@NANOFORGE Also, Gul Dukat never fully trusted the Dominion and knew his alliance was a dangerous one. However, once the Gamma Quadrant fleet disappeared in the wormhole, things went downhill from there in regards to the political leadership.
@pepelepew2006 Cardassians remind me of Nazis of World War II,who use torture and brutality. If a surviving Federeation POW or Klingon POW manages to live after the war,he or she would gladly drink a toast to Klingon General Martok and thank him for fighting against the Dominion and Carassia.

It seems like the Fed is sitting pretty.
LOL the adopted son of the Chancellor of the Klingons is in Star Fleet. Klingons are the last civilization to attack the Feds. As I said, Fed is sitting pretty after the series.
" I don't think they will since he was largely responsible for their defeat" - That is what I was thinking as well.
However when the female changeling wanted to kill weyoun but did not since there were no more clones; you could sort of see anger in his eyes and misturst for the founders.
Also the flames aren't reflecting off the walls the way they should because of CGI. But it could also be magical flames that don't give themselves away.
Garak was one of the most intelligent, complex , tragic characters in Star Trek lore. I really wish they had developed him even further...but kudos to great writing nonetheless
it was never mentioned. but it had to be at least several billion for the Cardassians to control a large empire.
but most of them probably didn't live on Cardassia-Prime itself because of the harsh conditions there so most Cardassians lived on the other planets and colonies in the Cardassian union.
the main reason they had to become an empire in the first place was because their homeworld was harsh and lacked resources and vegetation so they had to conquer other planets to feed their people
800,000 died on Cardassia Prime alone. and that was just the initial count. the casualty reports were still coming in.
after the Founder gave the order to wipe out all the Cardassians the Dominion was probably killing Cardassians on all the other planets in the union as well. so the final count could be billions.
Let's not discount the effect of "just" 800 million deaths to a population. 800 million is 12% of the Earth's population today. That's more than the total population of all of Europe combined.
Imagine if you woke up tomorrow and an entire continent was wiped off the face of the Earth. Wouldn't that be a bit devastating to humankind as a whole?
this was explained in star trek. all humanoid aliens share the same basic DNA because an original humanoid species seeded their genom all over the galaxy
Garak ended up losing the most of any DS9 character by the end of the series. He lost his father, his shop, his mother, his old life, and also the close friends he'd made on the station.
More time should have been given into his tragic end.
To me it seems like it was his position if he wanted it. He had a lot of experience and he was the "hero" that stormed the facility with Dumar and fought with Dumar. Had Dumar lived, he would have been leader but it seems Gerak is next in line. I forsee the Federation getting involved in rebuilding efforts with Cardassia as they did with Bajor.
is it possible to compare the destruction of cardassia and the question of the guilty of the cardassian people and their responsibilities for the war with the situation germany was in after 1945?
just before the Dominion war Cardassia's military dictatorship was overthrown by the people and civilian authorities took control. Cardassia was becoming a democracy. Dukat became a high ranking member of the new government because he was very popular among the people. and when Dukat joined the Dominion and became leader of Cardassia the Cardassian people were rejoicing. they wanted to conquer the Alpha Quadrant and thought that the Dominion would help them to do it
Cardassians represent fascists. The Germans were very much fascist during the war.
Remember: Cardassia was once a proud industrial nation (like the German Empire). The military was overthrown and replaced with a weak democratic government (the Weimar Republic). Dukat comes back and it becomes a fascist state (like Hitler and Nazi Germany).
There are other fascists. Cardassians represent the ideology as well the historical application in Germany.
they even commited a holocaust against the Bajorans.
(watch my video "the bajoran holocaust")
after they were crushed by the Klingons Cardassia was in terrible condition and that was part of the reason why the Cardassians agreed to join the Dominion and to be led by Dukat.
I always thought the ending was a cop out. With everything we had been told about the Founders and the Breen, you would have thought they would have gone down fighting rather than surrender. Even though their race was dying, the Founders would have rather died than surrender to the Solids and place their future in their hands. With the fleet they had in orbit along with the defense grid, the Dominion could have bled the Alliance so that it would have taken decades before they recovered.
the Breen were part of the Dominion at this point. so when the Dominion surrendered the Breen also had to.
their fleet probably had to disarm before they even left orbit of Cardassia-Prime. they had to eject all their weapons and to turn over control of their warships to the alliance's control
Awesome series. I liked all the added in scenes, plot changes, and even the music, It made it feel like I was watching something new, but old and familier at the same time. Thanks

You just hated Nurse Ratchet just admit it, skywalker. Great Link please stop putting things outside their chronilogical order it is annoying. I am Concrete Random after all look it up dude. Alright, so Louise Fletcher is a bitch and cannot act but your hatred is for Nurse Ratchet not Kai Winn. Wait a minute, though, I cannot tell the difference between Nurse Ratchet and Kai Winn there it is dude.
late comment to cpmiz: XD heh probbly cuz they never had the budget to use those sorta ships in the TOS era XD since in the TOS era they actualy used the klingon D7 class design for a romulan ship XD.
Deep Space Nine really was the best of Star Trek. I am of course speaking in terms of writing and acting. The whole cast are VERY talented actors. I like DS9 the most because it gave us the widest angle on the political and religious climates of the Alpha quadrant making it that much more believable.
I've always like Deep Space Nine the most myself due to the fact that its got a larger premise and more stories it could have with so many people in such a large place. Plus the war with the Dominion was just flat out awesome. Not to insult you KenshiUchiha but Voyager was the worst or anyone else for that matter.
i must respectfully disagree(new account) as rare as it is to ehar it, voyager was the best also unlike any other voyager had no direct allies any allies voyager made had to be hard earned while kirk picard and sisko had the entire federation to turn o in the heat of things
yea but in some of those battles the Voyager ship should of been wipped out, but it wasn't for obvious reasons. Also it seems like in alot of DS9 battles they didn't have any support from the Federation or they were going against the Federation's wishes EXCEPT for when DS9 fought with the Klingons about there invasion to Cardassia
for many reasons. When shortening episodes to under 10 minutes, your gonna have plot holes. What better to do that to include other stuff...it works in many ways. It could be to add drama, make something seem more important or to show that the uploader feels that the episode could have been made better with things like that in.
They should have brought Denise Crosby in as a cameo representing the Romulan Empire at the Dominion surrender on DS9.

800,000,000 Cardassian dead.
What was the population of Cardassia?
Bomb29 2 years ago
it was never mentioned. but it had to be at least several billion for the Cardassians to control a large empire.
but most of them probably didn't live on Cardassia-Prime itself because of the harsh conditions there so most Cardassians lived on the other planets and colonies in the Cardassian union.
the main reason they had to become an empire in the first place was because their homeworld was harsh and lacked resources and vegetation so they had to conquer other planets to feed their people
TheGreatLink 2 years ago
800,000,000 million plus all the Cardassians that died when the Klingons attacked before the dominion war started.
The way they made it seem at the end gave the impression the majority of there population was wiped out.
Bomb29 2 years ago
800,000 died on Cardassia Prime alone. and that was just the initial count. the casualty reports were still coming in.
after the Founder gave the order to wipe out all the Cardassians the Dominion was probably killing Cardassians on all the other planets in the union as well. so the final count could be billions.
TheGreatLink 2 years ago
Let's not discount the effect of "just" 800 million deaths to a population. 800 million is 12% of the Earth's population today. That's more than the total population of all of Europe combined.
Imagine if you woke up tomorrow and an entire continent was wiped off the face of the Earth. Wouldn't that be a bit devastating to humankind as a whole?

i hate star trek becouse i don't think that aliens are looking like human with long ears
1984rockabilly 2 years ago
this was explained in star trek. all humanoid aliens share the same basic DNA because an original humanoid species seeded their genom all over the galaxy

Wait, I thought Odo was blown to pieces by Garak in the last episode?
Matticus333 2 years ago
ROFL! "your thinking to much... just put your hand in and THIS ONE!" boom!
OneGoldLion 2 years ago 2
Garak ended up losing the most of any DS9 character by the end of the series. He lost his father, his shop, his mother, his old life, and also the close friends he'd made on the station.
More time should have been given into his tragic end.
Lamporre 2 years ago 2
yes I wish we saw a scene implying that he would become the leader of the new Cardassia
TheGreatLink 2 years ago
To me it seems like it was his position if he wanted it. He had a lot of experience and he was the "hero" that stormed the facility with Dumar and fought with Dumar. Had Dumar lived, he would have been leader but it seems Gerak is next in line. I forsee the Federation getting involved in rebuilding efforts with Cardassia as they did with Bajor.

is it possible to compare the destruction of cardassia and the question of the guilty of the cardassian people and their responsibilities for the war with the situation germany was in after 1945?
Sovereign007 2 years ago
indeed.
just before the Dominion war Cardassia's military dictatorship was overthrown by the people and civilian authorities took control. Cardassia was becoming a democracy. Dukat became a high ranking member of the new government because he was very popular among the people. and when Dukat joined the Dominion and became leader of Cardassia the Cardassian people were rejoicing. they wanted to conquer the Alpha Quadrant and thought that the Dominion would help them to do it
TheGreatLink 2 years ago
Also, Germany had a very rich culture in the years prior to Hitler's rise. A lot of impressive Cathedrals were wiped out by the bombings.
JustPhilNY 2 years ago 3
Yes. The Cardassians represent Germany (and fascists in general), with Dukat being like Hitler.
JustPhilNY 2 years ago
is germany thers is not fascism anymore......its democratic!
StinkiwinkiPoo 2 years ago
You asked if the Cardassians were similar to the Germans and I said yes.
JustPhilNY 2 years ago
no i did not ask, the other one asked you that.
You forgot in your answer to say that the fascism only was in Germany in the time from 1933-1945. Your answer sounded like:
" Germans are still fascists......."!
Now Germans are very democratic.
And Also Cardassia will find into the democraty, i hope;o)) greats from Northern germany
StinkiwinkiPoo 2 years ago
What I meant to say was this:
Cardassians represent fascists. The Germans were very much fascist during the war.
Remember: Cardassia was once a proud industrial nation (like the German Empire). The military was overthrown and replaced with a weak democratic government (the Weimar Republic). Dukat comes back and it becomes a fascist state (like Hitler and Nazi Germany).
There are other fascists. Cardassians represent the ideology as well the historical application in Germany.
JustPhilNY 2 years ago
indeed the Cardassians were definately fascists.
they even commited a holocaust against the Bajorans.
(watch my video "the bajoran holocaust")
after they were crushed by the Klingons Cardassia was in terrible condition and that was part of the reason why the Cardassians agreed to join the Dominion and to be led by Dukat.
TheGreatLink 2 years ago
Exactly. It mirrors the conditions that allowed Hitler to rise to power in Germany.

I always thought the ending was a cop out. With everything we had been told about the Founders and the Breen, you would have thought they would have gone down fighting rather than surrender. Even though their race was dying, the Founders would have rather died than surrender to the Solids and place their future in their hands. With the fleet they had in orbit along with the defense grid, the Dominion could have bled the Alliance so that it would have taken decades before they recovered.
pstiver 2 years ago
if not for the fact they were dying the Founders would never have surrendered.
they only did it to get the cure. since they were facing extinction they had no choice.
so the war was won so easily only thanks to Section 31's dirty tactics.
TheGreatLink 2 years ago
The Breen didn't sign the Treaty!
Lamporre 2 years ago
the Breen were part of the Dominion at this point. so when the Dominion surrendered the Breen also had to.
their fleet probably had to disarm before they even left orbit of Cardassia-Prime. they had to eject all their weapons and to turn over control of their warships to the alliance's control
TheGreatLink 2 years ago
it would be nice to see if Cardassia could ever return to its former glory

did they ever actually show the romulans fighting?
Sinisterslash 2 years ago
Yes in one of the earlier recycled fights you see a giant Romulan Warbird and some Jem HarDar ships flying through it and the Warbird firing at them.
IDK if they were big wigs like in TOS anymore.
cpmiz 2 years ago
late comment to cpmiz: XD heh probbly cuz they never had the budget to use those sorta ships in the TOS era XD since in the TOS era they actualy used the klingon D7 class design for a romulan ship XD.

Deep Space Nine really was the best of Star Trek. I am of course speaking in terms of writing and acting. The whole cast are VERY talented actors. I like DS9 the most because it gave us the widest angle on the political and religious climates of the Alpha quadrant making it that much more believable.

im more into voyager myself its got the hardest situation for any ship to overcome
KenshiUchiha 2 years ago
I've always like Deep Space Nine the most myself due to the fact that its got a larger premise and more stories it could have with so many people in such a large place. Plus the war with the Dominion was just flat out awesome. Not to insult you KenshiUchiha but Voyager was the worst or anyone else for that matter.
IAMD3492 2 years ago
i must respectfully disagree(new account) as rare as it is to ehar it, voyager was the best also unlike any other voyager had no direct allies any allies voyager made had to be hard earned while kirk picard and sisko had the entire federation to turn o in the heat of things
KenshiImmortalWolf 2 years ago
yea but in some of those battles the Voyager ship should of been wipped out, but it wasn't for obvious reasons. Also it seems like in alot of DS9 battles they didn't have any support from the Federation or they were going against the Federation's wishes EXCEPT for when DS9 fought with the Klingons about there invasion to Cardassia

Why are random clips just added into these videos?
digdigdug1900 2 years ago
for many reasons. When shortening episodes to under 10 minutes, your gonna have plot holes. What better to do that to include other stuff...it works in many ways. It could be to add drama, make something seem more important or to show that the uploader feels that the episode could have been made better with things like that in.
