  • is this Loc?????????

  • excellent review!! well spoken, and the music was nice too!

    thank you

  • in terms of the LX3 and the Leica D-Lux 4 the 2 cameras look VERY similar. and seems to have the same features. While the LX3 is around $400 and the Leica is almost $800. i am planning on getting one of these cameras. but is the leica really worth double the price?? please help!!

  • @nguy3n21 NO its not - they are identical cameras but you pay extra for the leica stamp

  • anybody know anything about the shutter lag?

  • Hi, What is the range of aperture ? Thx

  • the g10 doesn't have HD.neither does the g10..which i can't understand why not

  • i want one whats a rough price brand new? Thanks

  • DigitalRevCom best review

    thanks

  • try researching the canon s90. I think the canon s90 is also interesting.

  • im new to cameras myself but the canon g11 has just come out. I'm deciding between this and the canon s90 because I want portability.

  • great background music

  • how does this compare to the ricoh gr2?

  • awesome camera just bought it.. worth it

  • you have hairy hands lol

    btw,very detailed video, good job!

  • i've had it since it came out, and it's price has gone up since!

  • best compact ive ever used...

  • is it worth buying it?plz answer

  • it's definitely worth for the price. the best compact cam to me in the market.

  • really good camera !

i have a 8.1 lumix cam, plan to buy this baby when i get paid !

  • I've heard no mention of CCD chip size on the G10. I've really wanted the LX3 for this reason, but like a lot of things about the G10 and I'm not a Canon person! I have owned 5 Panasonic's and have liked them but had two get glitchy on me.

  • I don't like the HD quality on this camera (from the samples I've seen). They're not crisp. I believe the camera upsamples a smaller picture, to be able to do 24fps at HD resolution.

The other bad is the 60mm equiv. focal length limitation, which translates to less than 2x optical zoom on a regular 35-105 equiv. 3x compact camera.

  • I haven't seen any reviews says bad about LX3.

It's not ultra compact size, it doesn't have wide zoom range but everything else, this camera excels.

  • crappy sound quality on the video feature. and an annoying lens cap. however you can easily clean the outside of the lens that way. still i'd prefer this cam to the g10, which has a useless video mode.

  • Hey exactly what i am facing too.. but it's Lumix LX3 vs Ricoh GX200 also..

  • I owned a g10 and accidently smashed it. It was very good, with lots of manual control and excellent screen. Heavy and brick-like with no place for your thumb- I kept accidently hitting buttons on it. The movie mode was sd, not hd. the sensor was too small and megapixels too large. I think the zoom compromise of the lx3 worth it for the magnificent lens quality and larger sensor. Pixel density is only 24.

  • Take a look at the sample pictures available in any review online. Some people buy the camera for it's picture quality, not for it's zoom range.

  • Hm... I think the reviewer's hands make this camera freakishly large in comparison, when in fact this is really quite a small camera.

  • Hello

Can anyone please recommend between the lx3 and the sony dsc-h50??

  • have some courage get the lx3 and have some fun in your photography

  • God Damn this music is so bad

  • get the leica dlux 4... it's worth the price. 2 year warranty vs. 90 days. You drop the Lumix on day 91 and it's going to cost over 300$ to fix....

  • hi guys, i am seriously considering this and Canon G10....cant make decision...any suggestion? thanks~

  • I owned a G9 and a lumix LX3. In terms of image quality I'm sure that G9 does a better job than the LX3, but images taken with LX3 are a little sharper. One important difference is that the noise in LX3 is really annoying, even indoor pictures have a lot of noise which G9 doesn't. I bought LX3 because of its 24mm wide angle lens to shoot scenery pictures,

  • but since its noise control is bad I don't think I can use it for night snapshots. (G9 uses a 35mm, but then G10 has a 28mm lens, so that should be very good enough.) G9 has done a great job at noise control. It also focuses much faster & accurately compared with LX3.

  • The LX3 has excellent noise ratio. What you are seeing with the G9 is more aggressive noise processing that will obliterate detail.

LX3 lets you adjust settings but you can also use computer software to process out more noise and determine how much detail you want to lose in the process.

Another thing to consider is the faster lens on the LX3 means that you will not shoot at high ISO as much as other compact cameras thus will have less noise.

  • I bought that camera a few days ago and its a very good camera. I recommend it...

  • Is the image quality the same as Nikon D40/any amateur DSLRs?

    Thank you!

  • Maybe if you downsized 10mp to Nikons 6mp it would be pretty much the same, yet any DSLR is still way ahead of point and shoot cameras.

The only exeption is Sigma DP1 and upcoming DP2 with DSLR size sensors.

  • A regular D40 with 6mp and the cheapest 18-55 kit lens will blow away this so called high end point and shoot at any setting, any aperature and any iso value. A 6mp 30x45 enlargement from a D40 will look better in every aspect than a 10mp same size enlargement from a Panasonic LX3. LX3 is great for portability and most serious dslr photographers get one as a backup. If you push the iso of the D40 to 4-8-1600 it just keeps getting better compared to even the most expensive prosumer compacts.

  • But can you put the D40 in your pocket? Dumbass.

  • the answers to your questions are yes you can add on a lens extender but you will lose 2 f-stops for the doubler and there is an optional flash and optical viewfinder. plus the focus system is as good and better because it's improved focus speed with the faster lens. it's increased focus sensitivity only in the center, selectable in the menus as an option.

  • Just picked this up as well. Coming from an LX1, this camera improves immensely on an already awesome camera series. Gorgeous 24mm. Thank you Panny/Leica.

  • wow i like this camera futures!!

  • can anybody tell me if the automatic mode is as good as that on the fz28?

    many thanks

  • Got mine on Friday and haven't put it down since! Really creative modes on it that allow you to do something different.

  • Very nice review. You explained it very well. Thanks

  • nice review. I like your reviews. Can I embed your videos into my BLOg? I look forward for your response. Thank you.

  • That's a killer cam.. Veeery tempting :-)

  • Very interesting review, thanks.

  • Can you put on a lense or flash to this camera? Thinking of getting it but the zoom is not that much, but if you can get a zoom lense for it then I might consider...thanks!
