Oh ok so let me get this straight...anyone who scowls is wicked? There are a lot of supposed "upright" people who scowl...can you explain that? I'm genuinely asking...
Well, the verse is talking about a wicked man to start out with. A wicked man hardens his face in rebellion against God, truth, holiness, righteousness all that is good, because he delights to do sin and evil and will not repent and ammend his evil ways. That is what I believe the verse is saying. Its not a verse against all scowling. A righteous person could scowel at evil sins like sex out of marriage or baby killing (abortion) and it would be perfectly ok.
Or alot of times sinners just have a hard looking face from living a life of sin in opposition to God their Creator. Sinners or the wicked live a hard life and it shows on their countenance. The verse just says that a wicked man hardens his face, I merely expanded on the attributes of the wicked and some reasons why a wicked man would harden his face.
@BurningHearts70 That is very true. One can see an wicked man by the look on his face oftentimes. Sin hardens the heart to the truth of God. I see it all the time here in Akron Ohio and elsewhere where I street preach.
