@TheHango They are almost the same. Moreover, you can Overclock video cards yourself. I wanted to buy the XFX GTS 250 1GB in October but I finally bought an ATI 4850 and I'm not pleased with it... But if you want, you can buy an ATI 5750 or 5770 which are a bit better snd newer than GTS 250...

It's nothing buddy!

Frame rate is based on the processing speed between CPU and memory. (Only for GTA IV)

AMD athlon II x2 is not fast enough for processing GTA IV frames. After playing GTA IV for about 1 hour memory will fill up completely because of low processing speed of CPU. Thn CPU will wait for the memory to clean up. In that time frame rate will fall. After sometime memory will be ready to perform again. Then the CPU will come back again to work hard. Then GTA IV will run smooth again.

To prevent this problem. You need more cores, more L2 or L3 cache, More core frequency.

I have Athlon II X4 which is good in games and applications. But Phenom II X4 beats Athlon II X4 always.

But triple core is always better than dual core :)

Not same as in XP. Win7 will take around 3 frames from the game :) Vista is not good for this game at all

yes it will..but it will suck a lot of performance and I wont like that..anyway I've installed gta 4 and it runs fine with shadows on high and everything medium(I can't really tell the difference between medium and very high--it's like the same)..but the shadows are very ugly on medium(it's like spray) and I can't play that(neither with shadows off---it feels too simple and empty)

Nope, I don't think so.

This game is still not good to play in PC. Most of the people are using dual core processor and this game need Quad core to run smoothly even you have an HD5890 or GTX295+ :)

And Athlon II X2 is not the processor for this game. Intel C2D wins here. You can play this game in a 2.6Ghz C2D with more FPS that in Athlon II X2 2.6Ghz. (But phenom II is faster in games than intel always)

This game is CPU dependant not GPU. This games frame rate is based on the bandwidth between your PC processor and PC memory.

If you have a quadcore then game is fast.. If you have 4GB DDR2 800Mhz then game is faster. If you have 4GB DDR3 1600+Mhz. Then the game is superb to play!!

As I specified All we need is a Fast processor or a very Fast memory to play this game.

I am tried this game in my XFX HD4890, Core I5 3.0 6GB DDR3 1600Mhz triple channel and crashed before starting the game :))

After that I am tried that in my XFX GTX295+, Core I7 4.0Ghz , 8GB DDR3 1800Mhz . It works very well!

min is about 50*celsius max I've heard of is 75* celsius but I haven't seen it yet, max I've seen is about 70* celsius when I was running Crysis very high 1280x1024 8xAA

but it was still running no lag, and after the game closed within 5 mins the temp is back down to around 50*celsius I only have my Heat sink+power supply fan and 1 extra fan in my case to blow cold air in, I'm sure there are better cooling options

since I have a small case, I was wondering if that was why it is heating up so fast

now I have the side of the case off with a little fan blowing in, and running games the card doesn't go over 60*celsius yet

and all my other temps dropped

Ps : Minimized games will not take GPU resources. So that GPU will not heat up on that time and GTA IV do not make a big heat. It's CPU dependent game.

Go for HD4670 512MB or Go for GT 240 GDDR5 1 GB version. Both are similar.

Sure, Core clock makes big difference in game play. Gamers are overclocking Video card to increase core clock to get more performance. With a low core clock you can't get good frame rate in games like GTA IV, Crysis Warhead etc...

ATI card's heat level starts from 65C-70C and on full load it goes above 90C. :O Damage level increases with heat level.

If I were you I will go for HD4670. That's 100X better for game play.

But why a comparison between GT240 and HD4670??? both are different in class na?

Yes, Xtra PSU required for both GT cards.

Still I recommend HD4670 if you need performance.

And one thing.. Do not compare GT 240 with GTS 250. Both are close only in name... In performance GTS 250 kills GT 240 and HD4670.

GTS 250 is one in my GPU collection. Not of my best gaming system. I have GTX295 Quad SLI.

Framerate : Min = 29FPS Max = 119FPS (While swimming in ocean) In traffic = 37FPS

Average = 42FPS

This game is playable in higher settings on a dual core (I don't know how this happened :))). AMD is always better in games. I will submit screen shot's with FRAPS framerate display.

And you must note that I am using a frame rate eater(FRAPS) to record the gameplay. ;)
