@MrKoolTrix If you are having trouble with this, a last resort can be to measure the fifths. You can also check my video on how to get fifths on a square, and apply it here.
arrrrgh!!! I cant get equal 5ths! Iam using printer paper and I cant get 5 even segments. the tab folded at 1:56 makes the horizontal crease that follows it too small of a section when I fold it,wtf!? can someone help??
@scumbuddy If you use letter-sized paper you have to ensure that you first cut it to the correct ratio. You need to start with half an A4 sheet, rather than half a letter-sized sheet. Office paper in Canada is usually letter format, not A4.
I really love your origami videos. They are comprehensible and easy to follow. :) Thank you for taking the time into making this video, as well as everything else.
However, I seem to be haing trouble making the fifths. My second and third fifths appear to be MUCH wider than they should be. I believe I followed yur video well. Can you please tell me what I did wrong, or if it is supposed to be that way? Thanks!
If you are using 8 /12" x 11" paper then that will happen. As she stated earlier in the comments, you will need to first divide the paper into fifths lengthwise before any of the other folding/creasing. She has another video explaining how to fold a paper into fifths if you need it.
LOL, when I saw you display this Sara, in your 'Random Models', I knew I wanted to learn it, but had a hard time finding it. But, I did, and couldn't believe really how easy it is. Haven't tried it yet, as I need paper, but will be giving it a try in a day or two. Thanks so much for sharing. I've been glued to all your video's last night and today. I'm not getting ANY housework done. This is VERY addicting, lol.
Wow, well done! I'll have to try this model the next time I get a chance. Now that you gave us a link which shows us how to easily create A4 paper from Letter sized, I can make a LOT more models now!
Sheesh, I've been doing Origami for over 12 years now and am still learning new things every day.
The paper you start off with, and have to cut in half lengthwise has to be A-sized. Printing paper will do in any country except for the US and Canada (they use letter).
Basically, the aspect ratio is 1 by square root of 2. I'd recommend starting with A5, so after cutting 3 sheets in half, you'll have 6 sheets sized 74mm by 210mm. Speaking in inches, try 6 sheets sized 3in by 8.485in.
i know how to make it with letter sized paper. cut in half lengthwise and to divide in fifths use one of the techniques that Adamssara gives in one of her vids. then you continue on.
If you're using paper with a slightly different ratio (half a letter-sized, dollar bills, etc), divide the paper into fifths lengthwise first. I did a technique video on fifths. Obviously, you won't be starting with a square.
So, to apply the technique, simply mark a square along the length of the strip (with a crease, or a pinch mark), and then work on that square:
There's a couple of different flexicubes out there, although I have only folded the wedge flexicube by David Brill so far. There's videos up for that, actually. There's also a double star flexicube by David Brill I haven't folded yet (diagrams in "Brilliant Origami"). Apparently there's also a stellated flexicube by David Brill (diagrams in "Quadratico Magico 22").
You're probably talking about the flexicube by Philip Noble, which I haven't tried yet, either.
I live in the US so I'm having a hard time figuring out a way I can make this. Any chance of getting the right sized paper from the letter sized printing paper we use, without bringing out a ruler?

@PS3November17 If you don't get a square 3/5 by 3/5, then you either started with the wrong size paper, or did a step incorrectly.
