  • This is disgusting and embarrassing.

  • Nun on a gibson 335!

  • Nun on electric les paul!

  • May God BLESS Mother Angelica and EWTN.....what a true blessing that channel has been to me, and i know to many more!! Love to you Mother, and God Bless you and lead you on in peace.

  • If I cannot stop LMFAO and i'm high as fuck does that mean im going to hell?

  • These people are part of the Vatican II Religion... NOT Catholic Nuns. They represent the apotasy from the True Faith.

  • At least these were recognizable nuns, not like some nuns today like the Sisters of St. Joseph with their lesbian feminist hairdos, hoop earrings, lipstick and gym memberships. Oh, yes, and these secualr modernist St. Joe's nuns do wear one small cross pin as a concession to a "religious habit." Thank Vatican II for emptying the convents and seminaries. An evil Council.

  • You can thank Vatican II for throwing all these vocations out the window. Today these nuns are out of the habit and in the world. Thank you Spirit of Vatican II for destroying the Church.

  • ugh.... this was painful

  • If anyone is curious as to why vocations fell threw the floor, watch this video.

  • YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is disturbing. Lord, help us love You better.

  • Great to hear this one again.

  • ST THERESE LOVES EVERYONE. LOVE RULES.

  • Sicking how the church was inflicted with Marxist fudge packing enemy aliens IMO.

IMO the Church was crushed completely by 1964, and now you only of it in lawsuits as the bones of the church are picked clean by the enemy aliens of Western Nations.

  • what a vocation confussion...

No wonder the Mass is a mess.

Nuns have became Broadway singing ladies, pleasing the world, but not God.

  • @ecclesiaprimus - Are you kidding?

  • and then people wonder why folks can't be bothered going to church

  • The beginning of the end...

  • They weren't singing they mouthed it

  • @kludge11 Nasty,NASTY< and SHOCKINGLY NASTY

  • @kludge11 Don't be so disgusting! These holy women are reponsible for contributing to the educational system of this country. They have also given so unselfishly of themselves in our hospitals, our nursing homes and our health-care facilities.

AND they pray for miserable people like you.

  • I say we erase the 1960's from all historical records.

  • @Dauphin35

    LOL!

You hit the Nail on the HEAD!

  • Search "Latin Mass" for Churches with the Tridentine Mass. The number of churches offering the Latin Mass are increasing thanks to Pope Benedict allowing this. How wonderful to kneel at the altar and await the Eucharist while hearing traditional music. The music at the New Mass is so stressful, no one knows the songs and they change constantly! Can we bring traditional, spiritually fulfilling worship back?

  • they don't look very joyful,so solem.remember there singing to the LORD.

  • These poor women sure got a very different deal than what they signed on for a few years before this. Things were disintegrating as they were singing this. It's not how Vatican II was interpreted, Vatican II and its documents were the Founding Articles for a new religion born in rebellion against the Old and True one. New worship, new sacramental rites, new beliefs and practices, unknown to the Church since day one.

  • super..bravo...bravissimo!

    thanks for that vidio!

  • Poor girl! That´s what happens when you encounter

    gorillas in the mist!

  • A sad attempt to try and be "with-it" and following the world instead of leading.

  • In your opinion, this is not the opinion of the Church..........

  • Such a pity they don't have the Habit anymore.Take away the identity and you kill the nun.

  • No to all those, friend.

A nun takes vows of celibacy, and is married to Christ (in a non-sexual way).

The Pope is under the srictet vows of Celibacy since he is he Representative of Christ and the Church on Earth. All focus must be on God. Same with monks and Priests.

    Does this help you?

  • Also, they do not wear dresses, they wear habits which are full of symbolism showing who they are and what they stand for and what their life is about. They do not dress that way just because they can.

    It is a beautiful thing.

  • Very lovely. Thank you kindly for sharing this.

  • In this video, we can witness the sad transition of tradition to hippy buffoonery in one movement. Thanks a lot, Vatican II.

Today, nuns are decked out in track pants and calling belief in Christ optional.

  • Vatican II had nothing to do with it.

  • Even the Pope would disagree with you.

"The way we wopship reflect the way we belive".

BTW, I think that this in contradiction to their vocation, even for today's standards.

  • It's not Vatican II that was the problem but the way that Vatican II was implimented. John Paul II and Benedict XVI were both involved in drafting the documents of Vatican II.

  • True. Speaking of which, do you celebrate the traditional Mass?

  • MILF!!!!!!

  • Sr. Mary Ellen Cunningham, OSB looks silly without her habit. See her pic in the website.

  • The sister who says "Please Join With Us" at 1:22 is Sr. Mary Ellen Cunningham, OSB. You can see photos of her and the rest of these scary old women in the Photo Directory on the Erie Benedictines website.

  • i likes this song paulit ulit nya

  • Poor St. Benedict...

  • My God Saint Benedict would be turning in his grave!!! However it is good to see nun's wearing their habits, sadly I am too young to remember them! It is a pitty the few nuns left in Christendom don't wear their habits

  • Comment removed

  • All of the nuns I have known in my life wear habits, and I go to the Latin Mass next to 3 convents. 2 Carmelite and 1 Daughters of Charity (Mother Theresa nuns).

  • you are a lucky lucky person. I'm planning on attending a maronite parish.

  • Beautiful. You are the lucky one.

  • Orders at this time were trying to "connect" to society. Sadly, they connected so much that many became (in lifestyle) no different than lay people who were also unmarried and who saw mainly or only, only the social implications of the Gospels. Our local nuns gave up the habit. Some wore makeup, smoked, moved out of the convent to an apartment, took secular jobs, became involved with politics, etc. Now we have no nuns in town at all, and the convent's a condo. (Baby went out with bath water.)

  • Very well put, lichtbroeder, my sentiments exactly.

  • @lichtbroeder I agree totally with you. We have a few Sisters in town but you'd never know it. They wear polyester pantsuits and are completely invisible. Reformers in the 1500s despised everything Catholic and trashed everything that smacked of "Popery". Those growing up in the Am,erican 1950s, caught up in the Social Revolution of the time trashed everything that smacked of "Tradition". They had wonderful ideals but irreparable harm was done to Church and orders. What a tragedy!

  • Libra, does your Mom know where the drum came from? I see a guitar, bass and keyboard but no drum, I hear it. How did it get in the mix? It was really great viewing this vid as it brought back great memories of the Benedictines who taught me in college. Benedictines are greatly known for their expertise in liturgy and it was that foundation they gave me that I use today in my church music. Go Benedictines! U.I.O.G.D.

  • Only hours ago, the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XVI lifted the questionable 1988 excommunications against the Society of St. Pius X. The Holy Father is undoubtedly of the opinion that rubbish such as "Kumbaya" should be given a heave-ho onto the bonfire. It's liberal, it's neo-protestant and, frankly, it stinks. Restore the true music of the liturgy, Gregorian Chant and sacred polyphony. Chitchester and her crew of pro-abortion "nuns" (?) are parasites. Too bad +Ratzinger wasn't elected in 1978 !

  • - What makes one form of music the "correct" form of music over another?

  • Deo Gratias for Benedict XVI whose pontificate champions the restoration of Sacred Tradition and the Latin Mass. These silly scarecrows in penguin costumes with their idiotic hippy tunes are rapidly going to the dustbin of history, and good riddance. The Traditional Church is the Church of the Future. As Cantori2 rightly notes, Chitchester is a parasite as are all Modernists who sought to destroy Holy Church after John XXIII's ill fated Council. Introibo ad altare Dei, Amen +

  • I support the traditionalist movement in the church, I am a rather active member. However, I disagree that this is idiotic and stupid. If the church allows it, it is truth. You must allow that, and accept that.

  • This sisters are all pretty much dead or on their way out (thank goodness!) Earth Mother Joan "Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang" will soon meet her eternal reward and I have a feeling it won't feel good for her. She is an evil person who has been a parasite and thankfully her generation is all but gone.

  • Awesome, Sisters!

  • is rosamystical even catholic? to be saying that about the catholic religion. Did you even heard of the saying judge not less you be judge?

  • Rosamystical. Another tiny minded human claiming to know the mind of the creator of the universe.

  • down permanently. This place is where "sr." Joan Chittister is, the well defiant, liberal, pro homosexual, pro women ordination, pro abortion, pro married priests, etc...resides and does much of her heretical works and writings. It will return the way God wants and expects the religious life to be, only, ONLY when HE turns the world back on course. Hopefully, before then many will realize the roles they were to assume and live out rather than doing their own will.

  • This is not a Catholic song. This is when the liberals began showing their ugly faces. What a shame to have the nuns fully dressed in habit (beautiful) moving into the modern sector of what we are now witnessing as a crisis within our Church. Today, the "sisters" at Erie, Pa..where I have visited for several days, have the habitless, jean wearing "sisters" who parade up n the altar and give homilies amongst all the other "new age" and heretical teachings that they promote. They need to be shut

  • God bless the sister of Charity that taught me.

God bless Mother Angelica and EWTN

  • Arondeus, It is good to see you still seeking, otherwise you would not be watching. It is about God, not all the failed humans who try to worship him. Ultimately it is YOUR relationship with God that matters. I tried to justify my actions by condeming others but it is as empty as can be. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God....

  • It's a good performance and a beautifully expressed prayer. I have always had a particular admiration for Benedictine Nuns and Monks. Too bad there is no modern equivalent of Ed Sullivan on television today. Imagine anyone daring to book the Rolling Stones and the Erie Benedictines on the same show!

I accept that there will be a judgement, as attested in the Nicene Creed. What will it consist of? Will we be judged on how right we are? Or will we be judged on how loving we are?

  • Come by here Lord.

Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

  • Singing Kum bay Ya is a bad "habit."

  • that'a bad!!!! but funny!

  • big it up to the 44 nun crew! kum ba ya baby!

  • When this song (hymn) is sung like this, it just doesn't get any better. The sisters are great.

  • A great rendition of a great song.

  • Wonderful!

  • modernists

  • Sisters, you were, and I am sure still are, awesome. Thank you for your gifts!

  • I was taught by this community of sisters at St. Joseph's Grade School in Sharon, PA. I am still grateful for their encouragement and teaching. I have 5 degrees and I have always said that I wouldn't have done as well if it hadn't been for their insistance on strong study habits and a search for the Truth. Thanks sisters! I've NEVER forgotten your labors!

  • The Benedictine Sisters in my grade school began changing their habits Easter of 1967. The first change was a modified veil. By 1972 most of the sisters were no longer wearing a habit of any kind.

  • Is Sister Joan Chittister in here somewhere? She would have been about 30 years old when this was broadcast.

  • My mom, Ruth Marie Falconer (maiden name) Fox, was I think the third from the left, standing. She would have only been 24 or 25 at the time. We watched this over Christmas. She was telling me about some of the sisters she saw in the video. I guess some are still in the order, others are not. Yes, she knows Sr. Joan, too...

  • Being a nun is not as easy as people may think. Bless your mother. At least she tried. She'll always be blessed. Many who enter do not finish or go on. Watch the nun's story with Audrey Hepburn.

  • Well, I think it was my mother's desires and needs to have a family that really made her decision to leave (thank goodness for me, right!). But it was a decision she struggled with, and in the end, decided to leave after having a very spiritual dream. I guess she learned that she can serve God through her children, not just through the church... she's a great mother (and now grandmother!)

  • Thank you sincerely for your reply to my comment. May your year be blessed with good fortune, happiness and abundant prosperity all to be enjoyed in the very best of health, dear heart.

  • Well I have nothing but respect for these women. This order, though not the Eries, taught me growing up. Wonderful women! and because of them I know what the mission is of Benedictine spirituality is! Yes, motherhood is a vocation in itself. I just want to know, what did she think of meeting Mick Jagger???

  • Mom said that Mick Jagger was very nice and polite! She said that he wanted to have his picture taken with the nuns, but Ed Sullivan wouldn't allow it...

  • My mom was one of those nuns! She left the convent a few years after this. Because she'd never taken final vows, she left on good terms w/the church. This was the episode w/ the Rolling Stones who sang "Let's spend the Night Together", and they had to change the lyrics to "Let's spend some TIME together". Mom said that they got to meet Mick and he was very nice and polite ;) Thanks for putting this up, I've always wanted to see it...please post their other performances if you have it.

  • That's cool Libra! This would have been on the January 15th, 1967 show.

Curious if your mom knows how many of the other sisters in this video are still in the order? I just finished reading the latest book by Sr. Joan Chittister, very interesting.

    THX

  • I would LOVE to see where these women are today. I went to their website and looked at the pictures. Quite a change! :) Which one was your mom in the video?

  • I loved the video.....I'm one of those liberal (wasn't Jesus a liberal?) people. Goddess bless these great women religious. I long for a return to 60's liberal church. Things are way too conservative these days.

  • "Goddess bless"?! May the one God, holy and immortal, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, have mercy and guide you away from error and into all truth.

  • This is just a couple of years before they began modifying their habits...by the early 70s most didn't wear a habit anymore.

  • As a Neophyte in The One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic, Church- I look to all my brothers, and sisters (religious or otherwise) to be role models for me as to how to love one another for the sake of Christ. Please be kind to one another. Peace Be With You!

  • Fortunately, we finally have a Pope who will soon be purging musical garbage like this from the Church.

Dear Hippies and Communists: Your efforts to destroy the Church during the 20th century have failed. Now, go away.

  • Poor 368ofk...How sad you feel this way

  • I love it! Where do you find stuff like this? Benedictines taught me in grade school, great women!

  • With a 2000 yr old tradition of music. Makes one wonder why this song?????? Liberal or not it stinks.....

  • It is the "liberal Benedictine Sisters of Erie, PA" that have been my lifeline. When I had a serious issue with a member of the clergy, the conservatives, of which I am one, would not give me the time of day. It was Sr. Joan and her Prioress, Sr. Christine, that listened, responded and cared. Do I always agree with these fine Sisters? No!! They are, however, women of prayer and I am glad to be an Oblate of their community!!

  • oh my godd, this is protestant!

  • We should have seen the early warning signs of craziness in convents when they sang Kumbaya instead of Te Deum!

These are the liberal Benedictine Sisters of Erie, PA, home of the infamous dissenter, Sister Joan Chittister (a member of this community, but not featured in this video).

Sad to note: most of these Sisters left the convent.

  • quite frankly, i wonder #1 how you know Sr Joan isn't on this video; #2 why you think she is "infamous" -- she is one of the most sought after speakers on the global circuit, and #3 if you have ever met her. besides, what do your comments have to do with this video?

  • Sr. Joan is a true daughter of the Church. I'm sure the Pharisees of old had much the same message as yourself about Jesus of Nazareth..."We should have seen the warning signs when he started speaking about loving your enemies and forgiveness"

I'm a Roman Catholic Priest in good standing in my diocese and in the Church by the way

  • To All

WOULD LIFE NOT BE WONDERFUL IF LIFE WERE SO

    EASY TO LIVE

IT IS A SHAME UTOPIA IS DOWN THE STREET!!!

  • Sister Joan is pro-choice. That disqualifies her from being a "true daughter of the Church". I am also a Catholic priest in good standing with the Church (by the way).

  • ridiculous and uncalled for comment - grow up!

  • I was referring to Arondeus' comment.

  • Hu cares? Ha,ha,ha... the pint is that the song is funny:)

  • You're right! haha
