  • Btw, the guy singing in this film clip is Tom Chapin who is Harry Chapin's brother, incase no one else posted this here already.

  • Was this the TV show where you heard some guy talking fast and saw alot of photos, films, and animation also going by very fast on the screen? I recall seeing a program of the sort one Sun. morning on ABC TV over WPVI in Philly and for years couldn't figure out what it was since I was very young. No wonder my mind is screwed up.

  • Here's one maybe most did not know about the man singing, he was a sub. teacher in CA. He came to my class a few times. Most of us in class watched the show. He would give us sort of a mini concert and talk about the things from the show. You know we were all for that, keep us from doing the regular work. Even though it was only a few days, I still remember from way back then.

  • Great song and memories. What happened to that old stingray of mine?

  • I remember the song, remember the watching the show, but I can't remember what it was about but remember thinking that it was cool at the time!

  • You could never get away with building a childrens show around stock footage, these days.

  • For years I swore I had imagined watching this hippie orgy, I would describe it, but no one else remembered it.

  • miss that sexy 70's stache, this guy wore it well

  • Will this cartoon make walt disney as the new recycle cartoon MR RECYCLE,there is a demo on YOUTUBE funny recycle puppet

  • I remember this used to be the last of the kid shows on Sunday before sports, and when we heard this, we knew to turn the TV off because there was nothing good on any more until Disney (unless 60 Minutes had something the folks wanted to watch )

  • @HallofWisdom LOL, I remember having the very same experience. It was always on after we got home from church, and then nothing good as you said! LOL, small world....

  • I remember this and I miss the hell out of it.

It absolutely WAS an acid trip.

Parents *nowadays* would crap razor blades in absolute fury if this "subversive" thing was on TV.

  • this tune has been in the back of my mind for 42 years!

  • who has the hal lindin vertion?

  • @Mr253raymond

    It was called.."Animals Animals Animals"

  • I only had the vaguest recollection of this. Just the 'Fly High' part and I had no idea what it was from until now.

  • i just used to watch this because it was n before the college football scoreboard

  • ah yes! and we DID fly high! ;) take a trip... LOL! Be IT ALL!

  • I loved this show as a kid. I thought it was cool. But looking at it now, it looks and sounds like a 1970's acid trip.

  • I remember this. It was the cue to change the channel because Saturday Morning was officially over (unless they preempted this show with Wide World of Sports).

  • LOVE IT, WONDERFUL, POSITIVE, SWEET & thanks for the MEMORIES! God bless..

  • The day I met Harry he was late getting to his show in Omaha. He was coming from Tom's wedding. That's when I learned that they were brothers.

I knew the show well because it was one of my daughter's favorites. To this day, I still say " Imagine all the possibilities ! "

  • As a kid..never could get into this show on Saturday mornings...mostly because it would come on around 11am or Noon on Saturdays..and by that time..I was out playing with my friends playing football or whatever...

Plus the fact there were political inuendos in the show iteslf. Tom Chapin was an anti-establishment kind of person.

  • Damn, I'm old. I remember this.

  • i remember this when i was a little girl on saturday morning cartoons and it would come on before whatever show was coming on next and i loved it because of the words ...i still love it today!

  • I have become hoplessly nostalgic the older I've become! (Not that the 'old times' were necesarily better!) And listings like this make my day! For some disturbing reason, very few people remember this show. (???) Nice to know some still do!

Can't remember now if I didn't know at the time that Harry had been his brother, or if I just forgot that factoid over the decades. Thanks for the info either way!

  • @dukes0916 I don't know that it was publicized much that he was Harry Chapin's brother but, in my conversation with him in the college cafeteria he was a little happy I knew him from Make a Wish when he mentioned different different artist and work he'd done that the current show he was doing was something that rang a bell with me!! LOL! You want to hear more nostalgia look up things on the Mississippi River Fest (MRF) at SIU-E. I have some of that on this channel as well!

  • @dukes0916 .....It was a Sunday show, it was on at 10am .....in those days most of us were in Sunday school/church so that's why not too many people recall this show, also it was on at the same time as wonderama for those at home

  • Wow!!....I haven't heard this in 35+ years, and still remember the words ha ha

  • @ReddingtonPass

Isn't it amazing how the lyrics come right back to you as soon as you start hearing the song!?

  • @CineGraphic And that feeling of childish excitement too!

  • @ReddingtonPass I haven't heard it in 40 years, and I can still remember it too!

It's one of those tunes that sticks in your mind and can take you all the way back to when you first heard it.

  • While a student at Lewis & Clark Community College (In the mid seventies) ... I was eating lunch in the cafeteria while this young guy was playing the guitar and singing ... He was the young guy and just starting the show MAKE A WISH. He still had some booking commitments he was fulfilling ... We talked about the show, his brother Harry (still alive and a co-producer of the show) What a wonderful happenstance! Great guy!

  • The audio quality of these opening titles are better than the previous clip.

  • i used to watch this tripping on acid. my dad called it "Sesame Street for teenagers. great word-associations; sure would be nice to have the whole series on DVD.

  • @gwydiot I had the opportunity to have dinner with Tom <swoon> many years ago and asked if the Make a Wish shows might ever be re-released. He said no, that although there had been efforts to do so, the copyright complications turned out to be too huge to overcome. I was mad for the man in my own younger, hipper days, and I'm still pretty much of a groupie. He's just a lovely, talented, *nice* person.

  • I had forgotten all about this show and when he started singing I somehow remembered all the words to the song from like what? 38 years ago?! That was great thanks for posting!

  • oh my god, thank you so much,me and my deceased brother used to watch this,as of yet i couldn't find anyone who heard of it,its great to see i wasn't the only one to remember it,thank you again

  • What a cutie

  • I have been thinking about this for years. I remember this like it was today. I always knew somebody would find it and post it. I was 6 and 7 when this aired. I never forgot.........."FLY HIIIIIGGGGHHHHHH"

  • In 75-76 I was 8-9 yrs old. This one escapes me. I really can not remember this at all.

  • A Sunday morning program that featured

ideas and concepts -- in 1975-76 season

Make a Wish focused on the Bicentennial.

  • Tom Chapin is still in the music business, performing, composing and recording. He is also the brother of the late Harry Chapin.

  • Great clip, thanks for posting. I do remember this show.

  • I wanna be a Redwood tree!

  • Great show!!! I still love YouTube for this kind of memory.

  • Many fond memories for me, too. I've looked all over the internet for video copies of this show, but thus far have had no luck. Do you know of anywhere that complete episodes of 'Make A Wish' might be found?

  • I remember this as well. (53 here) and while I like this show it had a very simple format. Low budget also. I recall mocking it at a Sesame Street rip off at the time. But the information was more advanced than just the A,B,Cs and lame set ups. It still had a strong hippy feel to the show where by that time has slowed down much. ABC was trying to capture the youth before the pot.

  • when I was a kid that was my favorite show. wow, it feels good to see this again.
