I spent close to 4 months when I was in college -- with headphones on my head and completely bruised and raw fingers trying to pick out this song. I finally got it. If you ever wondered if Ani was a insanely bad-ass guitar player (and let's be honest, who could EVER doubt that she is?!) -- go learn to play one of her songs. ;-)

People keep talking about how calming they find this song, and that's really weird for me. I see it as incredibly sad, it usually makes me cry in fact. Of course, that could just be because I listened to it on repeat at a really hard time in my life. Still it's strange to see how other people interpret it.

@musicalpony i think all music has meaning for us in the way we as individuals interpret it. i am sorry that this song seems sad to you, but you chose to listen to it because for some reason it may have had a sense of healing in it for you....otherwise i doubt you would have listened to it on repeat so much. but i am only assuming here....so don't shoot me lol.

@LoveNTheTragedy I don't think everyone needs to like Ani, and I don't there is anything wrong in not likeing her. Everyone just likes different stuff, and there are great performers in most generes. But the thing with Ani is that she is so unpolished and raw, and I think a lot of people have issues with that, most of today's music is so overpolished. I am not saying that is why you are not into her, I wouldn't really know why unless you tell me.

I heard this in Everything relative and really liked how it was used in the film to convey the two women who were so in love and still so in love even through so many obstacles and changes in their own lives. The characters Josie and Maria. Excellent film. And this song is really great in it.

Yes and it is a wonderful movie. It's about these women who come together for a lesbian couple's bris. Harvey Fierstein plays the Moyle and the Rabbi is an actual real Rabbi. It has some amazing acting in it and is kind of reminiscent of a Big Chill, Chantilly Lace sort of a film. I can watch the movie over and over again. Another one to check out is It's In The Water and Better Than Chocolate. Ani Difranco has a song in that, too. It's called 32 Flavors.

Yes and they're on DVD for sale, too. Best idea is to go to a used video shop and one that's gay friendly and ask them. But, I know Blockbuster definitely should have them for rent.
