The people who are usually riding that bird are normally doing what I do now. I protect you people in the middle of the night and during the bright of day. I walk into doorways that you would not like to. I stand up to criminality in ways that you say are too dangerous and we should just bow down to.
If you do not know what you are talking about please be quiet. People who are in use of this vehicle are courageous. Some give more of thier lives than you do. If you cannot respect them then change what it is going on in Washington.
People who disrespect the U.S. Military have no right to live in the U.S. as far as I'm concerned. We protect the free speech that you take for granted.
is Tallirico still in charge of campus security? Those guys were all d bags. i graduated 10 years ago, and a good thing, cause i would have fucked with those people. I would have at least tried to steal a hat. Plus, you could of had streakers... kids today
Furthermore- is this a recruiting stunt? Possibly- but you are college educated you should have the ability to decipher whether or not you want to be a soldier or not- regardless of how cool a few rides in Chinook are. Helicopters are cool- do we have to over analyze everthing? A demonstration of military power- trust me....far from it. Militrization of Moravian? Nobody is banging on your door saying- JOIN OR DIE! LOVE THE WAR OR GET OUT OF THE US!!!
I know some one who works at moravian, we discused this with some students, I believed the police didnt have any right to move those prtestors, what ever happened to freedom of speech?!?! huh?! who cares if that stupid war machine can carry a hummer? not only were there police men trying to stop the protestors but there we also student yelling horrible things at them, thats not fair!
Who cares that the "war machine can carry a hummer?" I happen to care, being in the Infantry it might save my life someday. They should let the people protest, but in my mind this is a rare chance for those ROTC cadets to feel good about the commitment they have made to their country. Its a rare feeling- who cares about the school, let those people feel good about doing what they do for 5 minutes. If you hate the war, thats fine, but dont rub it in these guys faces- they just want to serve.
You're suggesting that they only "feel good about doing what they do" during takeoff/landing situations? When I do volunteer work, the "feeling good" part lasts a lot longer than that, even when facing really harsh hecklers (I do occasional escort work with Planned Parenthood).
The only face rubbing I saw at this event was from pro-war students shouting obscenities at the "protesters," who were quietly standing with their signs.
Shame on Moravian! Shouldn't an institution of higher learning be a bastion of freedom of speech? Hurrah for the students who had the courage of their conviction to protest against this publicity stunt!!!
Who were you protesting? ROTC cadets that have no say in any decisions concerning USA's presence in Iraq? You should be kissing their feet for volunteering their own lives for the sake of yours... In addition, odd...you protest the war, but yet I saw some of you smoking cigarettes. Glad to see you support the tobacco companies that are killing thousands everyday ;)
Is that the kind of critical thinking skills they're teaching in Poli Sci these days, Kyle?
If you were actually there, and saw the signs they were holding, you'd see nary a one aimed at individual soldiers or ROTC members. They explicitly were either against the war in Iraq, or against the PR stunt nature of this ROTC pick-up.

They may not be saying "JOIN OR DIE!" but they sure aren't telling you why were are even there. What did Iraq have to do with 9/11?

I understand the subaltern position of cadets, but volunteering their lives for "the sake of mine"? Right!!
That is cheap sound-bite repetition.
