I think the people who say the graphics are wow style don't play wow, or at least not often enough to realize the obvious difference between the styles.
Sure they are both stylized but in all of the diablo III videos I've seen its always been more grimdark than WoW has ever been.

My hype around D3 just shut down by 300%... animations look terrible and so do the graphics. I know it's gay to base a game upon it's graphics or animations but they look so awkward and out of place... this doesn't look like a diablo game at all.
Well, this is actually cool, this kind of graphics both xbox360 and ps3 can handle, so there's hoping the game will be release on those too. Who knows, maybe even a wii port is in the making?!

LOL@ all the haters. Having played builds of this at several Blizzcons, I can assure you that it's just as dark, creepy and fantastic as the previous Diablos, but far more detailed. It's a work of art and true to its past.
It's not that the graphics are bad -- graphics don't really matter to me, it's just that it doesn't look like Diablo. It's too bright, vivid and almost cartoony. It lacks the dark and depressing ambiance that I know and love.
I am disappointed with the music. I know they incorporated the guitar back into it but it just does not listen good for me. I have a hard time adjusting to this music. I love them in D1 and D2. This one is way off for me.

@JSWelch32 I know I won't. I bought the first Diablo when it was still somewhat under the radar back in the day. I was an obsessive player of Diablo II as well. This is not the game I grew up playing. It's an isometric World Of Warcraft. The art team failed on this one and the idea men really failed on this. Starcraft II did nothing to change the game play, all it is is a suped up Starcraft and I'm sure this new Diablo will be just as rehashed with its predecessor as Starcraft II is. Not buying.

No potion belt- Replaced with WoW style skill belt- Art Style is now colorful and cartoonie, rather than grim and dark- Classes and Class names are not like Diablo at all.
Idk if Ill buy it yet ._., I mean I like Diablo but they took out one of the core(to me at least) elements of it..which is the dark ambiance...oh well..this I a maybe for me :), Ill be playing Path of Exile(that one does have a dark atmosphere) and Ill check on D3 like a month after release to see if its worth it

This just keeps getting worse. I initially went with their "new" art style because I thought they were trying something different. This makes it quite apparent: they went with the new artstyle so they could just lift assets from WoW into Diablo. I bet you'll find all these assets if you dig deep into the next WoW expansion's files. I see absolutely NOTHING here that says its NOT a mod for warcraft.

I don't know, why you dislike this - as for me, it looks just great, I love Diablo 2 and I'm sure that Diablo 3 will not be much worse, maybe even better. There is still those dark atmosphere in some places, maybe there will be more of them in 3-4 acts (ofc there will be no terrifying dark in the desert).

@JSWelch32 I know I won't. I bought the first Diablo when it was still somewhat under the radar back in the day. I was an obsessive player of Diablo II as well. This is not the game I grew up playing. It's an isometric World Of Warcraft. The art team failed on this one and the idea men really failed on this. Starcraft II did nothing to change the game play, all it is is a suped up Starcraft and I'm sure this new Diablo will be just as rehashed with its predecessor as Starcraft II is. Not buying.

No potion belt- Replaced with WoW style skill belt- Art Style is now colorful and cartoonie, rather than grim and dark- Classes and Class names are not like Diablo at all.

Idk if Ill buy it yet ._., I mean I like Diablo but they took out one of the core(to me at least) elements of it..which is the dark ambiance...oh well..this I a maybe for me :), Ill be playing Path of Exile(that one does have a dark atmosphere) and Ill check on D3 like a month after release to see if its worth it

@frealms Yeah dude they indeed made it "wowy" and for that it lost points indeed. Still that doesn't make it a shitty game.
Oh and btw I don't play World of Warcraft, so the "people like you" does not apply.
The reason why I'll buy (if i'll buy it) it was the epicness, greatness just plain perfection that was D2, even if I won't play D3 for more then 1-2 months it'll be a "thank you" to Blizzard for D2.
But active players should whine to Blizzard for the cartoonish engine that D3 has.

@Fustangle This blind "faith" is precisely whats killing Diablo 3. Sure it will sell. Tons probably. Purchased by people like you, who just say "Hey, its Blizz, its EPIC ZOMGHUFUAFU!!1!!1!!".
SC2 worked because although they took out or modded some iconic units, the soul of the game remained intact. It was a great improvement overall on how to strategize and work your gameplay on the franchise.
Now D3...they changed what the game looks to make it WoWy so people associate with and buy it...

I mean... I really want to complain about the graphics style. But I didn't think we were EVER going to get Diablo 3. If you're going for that Warcraft 3ish style of graphics, it at LEAST needs to be more violent than Diablo 2. At least to give it the illusion of a dark atmosphere.

This just keeps getting worse. I initially went with their "new" art style because I thought they were trying something different. This makes it quite apparent: they went with the new artstyle so they could just lift assets from WoW into Diablo. I bet you'll find all these assets if you dig deep into the next WoW expansion's files. I see absolutely NOTHING here that says its NOT a mod for warcraft.

@Larryandbob because its an OLD project theyve been working on it since i dunno 2005 or more..and they stretched it so much the graphics got old..theyll refurbish it before launch with some nifty Hi resolution textures and lights...and thats all . and by all predictions it'll hit the market about this time next year. (including future delays..im sure they'll be some at least)

Ok this does looks terrible. However this is just not on the max settings (for whatever reason) or Blizzard will do something about it. They have with sc2 before Beta, and I am sure they will do it again.

Also, remember that blizzard don't want to show the integrity of what they did, they want the player to discover by himself. So don't whine about "Where are the dungeons?" "Why i'ts not dark?" bla bla bla. Remember the first trailer of the game? With the barbarian and shit? That is diablo.

While I agree that Diablo has lost the dark gothic charm it once had, it's refreshing to see some colour instead of the drab brown, green and grey shit so popular nowadays. I still think this is a good direction for the series.

i dont know about you but when a hero takes a walk across a bridge with jumping rabbit critters nearby and a beautiful rainbow in the distance the last thing i expect there to be is goolish zombies....just saying. the blizzard art team here have failed to make any sort of connection between what is happening in the game world and what is actually being displayed.

I don't know, why you dislike this - as for me, it looks just great, I love Diablo 2 and I'm sure that Diablo 3 will not be much worse, maybe even better. There is still those dark atmosphere in some places, maybe there will be more of them in 3-4 acts (ofc there will be no terrifying dark in the desert).
