those aren't professional band members. and that was also addressed in the first season where archie was part of the jazz band at school. and finn is the drummer. What show IS realistic? It's a musical show. And sure there's a lot of pitch correction software used, but that's because the songs that they sing also use the same effects.

But how fun would it be to watch if when they sang, you'd only see a bunch of kids mumbling some words of a song they don't know, with musicians playing the wrong chords? If they always were in the glee room and never had beautiful sets and costumes for their shows?

I agree with every single point. What gets me about Glee is that they bring in random students to help them and those students automatically know how to sing and dance to the number. Also, they have no money but they always have elaborate sets and costumes. Seriously? When they sing in real life, before the auto tuning, I bet they sound like the group of deaf people from the one sectionals episode in season 2.
Although I disagree with you, I was fine with this video and even found it humorous up to part where you said "Better opinion". You have to accept not everyone agrees with you, but we have good reasons and our opinions are better than yours in OUR situation. No opinions are better then others for everyone. my opinion: glee character depth and character arcs= almost none. Gwen started out a superficial bitch...turned nicer after a very unrealistic pregnancy and then...went back to how she was? What? Really? And that's just 1 example. Sue is just getting ridiculous. And Kurt? Balls man! Balls! They made his character too stereotypical. 1 thing i do like is Kurt & Blaine relationship unlike most in the show..hasnt been off and on again. I agree with what ur saying too. 1 word: overrated.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I don't think you're going to sway anybody, though. Honestly, your primary argument is extremely weak. Has anyone ever said that Glee is supposed to be realistic? It's obviously supposed to be larger than life, and they CONSTANTLY make fun of that on the show. It's what theatre-savvy people call the "willing suspension of disbelief." If you don't like the show, that's fine, but discontinuity is hardly a valuable criticism.

I used to LOVE Glee! I watched every episode in the first season and I thought it was amazing... And then the second season started. I think its hilarious how they are always complaining about their budget, yet they can afford all this random crap like in the Rocky Horror episode. They had costumes, props, a band, an elevator, etc. I was actually upset when they did that episode because thats literally one of my favourite movies, but they just butchered it! :(
ppl in my school always told me i have to watch glee but there was always one problem they never told me what channel it was on so i've never seen it and now that i know its an hour long i probably wont be able to pay attention for that long

I only watch Glee cause of Darren Criss. Darren is the best and i'm super glad a member of team starkid is getting noticed because they are all amazing. Once Darren leaves Glee, i will never ever watch it again. I just dont like it, way too over dramatic
I must be missing something, because I can't really hear the autotune. I think it is because the sigers can actually sing that I can't hear it as well as say, the "Friday" girl. Iagree that the show is over dramatic and really cheesy, but I still watch it because of certain characters.
I didn't watch the first season except for like 1 episode. now i watch the second season but only for Darren Criss :) The show is not very good but I wouldn't want to miss new material from any members of Team Starkid. Ah well, Glee isn't for everyone. I love how incredibly overdone and cheesy it is, but that's just me. I also love getting excited each time there's a musical theatre song in the show, which isn't nearly often enough. And I completely agree with you on the autotune. I honestly think that Lea Michele and Jon Groff sound better without autotune than with it. (I can't speak for the others, since I don't know what they sound like without it).
In response to the point about Glee not being a realistic representation of high school: It's not supposed to be realistic. It's, at least in part, a satire of high school stereotypes.

I completely agree with you, I also dislike glee a lot. I've watched most of the first season, but it was just such a cliche and really repetitive and didn't have a very good quality storyline in my opinion. There are so many people at my school who watch and love glee, grrrr, but I guess they're allowed their opinion also. As long as they see what kind of bullsh** they're watching, then it's all fine :)

I am totally with you. But I hate Glee for a number of different reasons. And here they are: 1. the acting is terrible 2. Jane Lynch is played out. 3. Speaking of Sue Sylvester and things being unrealistic - that character is ridiculous and those shenanigans between her and the rest of the staff are unbearable to watch because of the inanity of it all 4. I do agree with you on realism part- I'm part of a real show choir, and for one thing- it takes WEEKS to get pieces ready for competitions, hours of rehearsal and tons of early morning dance sessions. Plus, things cost money. As you said in the video, the principal is always complaining about money, but irl, show choirs have to pay for their own dresses, own bus rides, etc, etc. And, in Glee, most of their songs are solos with back-up vocals, nothing like that irl. Crazy.

I could not agree more! I'm a 3rd voice major in a BMus program and people in my program think I'm nuts because I don't like GLEE. Honestly, I find it extremely boring, way too auto-tuned, and quite frankly, the last thing I want to do in my leisure time after singing all day is watch a show about singing.
Well, the thing to consider as far as Glee's being unrealistic is that the show is a satire. Of course it'll be overexaggerated, because it's the whole point of the show: to bring out the things in the public school system and high school in general that are kinda ridiculous by making the issues even more ridiculous than they truly are.

The writing plummeted after the first half of the first season, the autotuning makes me sad (because, yes, like you said, all those people are good singers! i started watching glee but got bored of it because i hated how racheal and the kid she likes fell in and out of love and shit it was really annoying so i stopped maybe at like season 1 episode 8 or something but most of all like you point out its really long so i would always be like naw i'll watch it tomorrow and now to get up to date i probably have to watch it for like 2 whole days and thats just a waste of time. lol anyway i loved this video :)
I saw all the first season too because my friends told me it was wonderful, and I end up so disappointed. I mean, I do not hate Glee neither, buy I don't find it that interesting. There are so many better series. Better scripted, amazing stories, better character development... I usually found myself thinking " I could bee reading a really good book right now".
But once again, I'm not a Glee hater, but I do not enjoy it as much as I should to keep watching it.

haha, i love glee, but you are way to funny to be mad at. I have to admit, i didnt like the second season at first, but i have like every episode since the super bowl epsiode so its starting to get my attention again. haha oh and i wish the episodes were longer :)

I used to LOVE Glee! I watched every episode in the first season and I thought it was amazing... And then the second season started. I think its hilarious how they are always complaining about their budget, yet they can afford all this random crap like in the Rocky Horror episode. They had costumes, props, a band, an elevator, etc. I was actually upset when they did that episode because thats literally one of my favourite movies, but they just butchered it! :(

I only watch Glee cause of Darren Criss. Darren is the best and i'm super glad a member of team starkid is getting noticed because they are all amazing. Once Darren leaves Glee, i will never ever watch it again. I just dont like it, way too over dramatic

I must be missing something, because I can't really hear the autotune. I think it is because the sigers can actually sing that I can't hear it as well as say, the "Friday" girl. Iagree that the show is over dramatic and really cheesy, but I still watch it because of certain characters.

I didn't watch the first season except for like 1 episode. now i watch the second season but only for Darren Criss :) The show is not very good but I wouldn't want to miss new material from any members of Team Starkid. Once Darren is off the show... I won't watch it anymore. The writing is muy terible

Ah well, Glee isn't for everyone. I love how incredibly overdone and cheesy it is, but that's just me. I also love getting excited each time there's a musical theatre song in the show, which isn't nearly often enough. And I completely agree with you on the autotune. I honestly think that Lea Michele and Jon Groff sound better without autotune than with it. (I can't speak for the others, since I don't know what they sound like without it).

I completely agree with you, I also dislike glee a lot. I've watched most of the first season, but it was just such a cliche and really repetitive and didn't have a very good quality storyline in my opinion. There are so many people at my school who watch and love glee, grrrr, but I guess they're allowed their opinion also. As long as they see what kind of bullsh** they're watching, then it's all fine :)

I am totally with you. But I hate Glee for a number of different reasons. And here they are: 1. the acting is terrible 2. Jane Lynch is played out. 3. Speaking of Sue Sylvester and things being unrealistic - that character is ridiculous and those shenanigans between her and the rest of the staff are unbearable to watch because of the inanity of it all 4. I'm sick of people being IMPRESSED that there are gay characters on shows. it's not novel, and it's not teaching anyone anything. GLEE SUCKS

You're great :) I have too many friends who haven't even watched it but have very strong opinions against. My other friends and I have decided that the writers live for making socially awkward moments, but we're willing to ignore those parts because we love the music so much. It may be auto-tuned, but we're singing along after the first time we've watched it anyway :) definitely a Gleek forever <3
(but if you're not watching hour long shows you're missing out on Doctor Who, which is just sad)

I do agree with you on realism part- I'm part of a real show choir, and for one thing- it takes WEEKS to get pieces ready for competitions, hours of rehearsal and tons of early morning dance sessions. Plus, things cost money. As you said in the video, the principal is always complaining about money, but irl, show choirs have to pay for their own dresses, own bus rides, etc, etc. And, in Glee, most of their songs are solos with back-up vocals, nothing like that irl. Crazy.

I could not agree more! I'm a 3rd voice major in a BMus program and people in my program think I'm nuts because I don't like GLEE. Honestly, I find it extremely boring, way too auto-tuned, and quite frankly, the last thing I want to do in my leisure time after singing all day is watch a show about singing.

Well, the thing to consider as far as Glee's being unrealistic is that the show is a satire. Of course it'll be overexaggerated, because it's the whole point of the show: to bring out the things in the public school system and high school in general that are kinda ridiculous by making the issues even more ridiculous than they truly are.

THANK. YOU. I'm like you in that I watched the first season and some of the second, and every time I try to give Glee another chance, I am sorely disappointed. The writing plummeted after the first half of the first season, the autotuning makes me sad (because, yes, like you said, all those people are good singers! I want to hear THEM SING!!), aaaaaand, yes, UBER-dramatic. Oy. Why can't we go back to when people were faking pregnancies? lol

@KunoichiN3rd Yes!! I agree with everything you said!!!! And I think generally the reason the first season was better was that they actually WEREN'T autotuning as much as they are now (er...were at the beginning of the second season. Haven't seen anything since then.)

i started watching glee but got bored of it because i hated how racheal and the kid she likes fell in and out of love and shit it was really annoying so i stopped maybe at like season 1 episode 8 or something but most of all like you point out its really long so i would always be like naw i'll watch it tomorrow and now to get up to date i probably have to watch it for like 2 whole days and thats just a waste of time. lol anyway i loved this video :)

I saw all the first season too because my friends told me it was wonderful, and I end up so disappointed. I mean, I do not hate Glee neither, buy I don't find it that interesting. There are so many better series. Better scripted, amazing stories, better character development... I usually found myself thinking " I could bee reading a really good book right now".
But once again, I'm not a Glee hater, but I do not enjoy it as much as I should to keep watching it.
