I have both goosebumps and tears. This scene was the most powerful in the dub, even more so than the original Japanese version. The goosebumps only intensify when Usagi shouts: Cosmic Moon Power Unite!

This is perhaps the ONE moment in the entire English dub that trumps the Japanese version - it's certainly more condensed, but that simply makes it's impact greater than the original. "Carry On" is a better, more powerful song choice than "Moonlight Densetsu", hands-down. The ending narration could have been dropped and the 'twinkle' sound effect DiC added in post are stupid, but overall I prefer this version. I do agree with @nohabody though - in the context of the show, it makes no sense.

I think I can top that! I was driving home last night from new years party and I needed something to keep me awake. I was slightly tipsy so I put on/blasted the SM soundtrack. If a cop would have stopped me it definitely would have been a WTF moment. ;-)

Eng dub pro: music is better

Eng dub con: sometimes the emotion in the situation is not acted out properly.

I don't tend to sympathize with sailormoon during her sad scenes in the eng dub because the emotion is lacking.

The original japanese acting is better because you can really feel the emotion behind the delivery.

This is probably in the top 3 of the best Sailor Moon episodes ever... and that first season was definitely the best season of the show. Pointless power upgrades and the additional outer scouts were just overkill and unnecessary. From that episode forward it just became a bit repetitive IMHO. Also, I prefer the english dub to the original japanese. The music is better and the voices are less childish... maybe some humor got lost in translation, but I like my DiC-dubbed anime.

I don't know why there's such a big thing about which county's voice actors are better -_-' Both are talented. The only thing that bothers me is when the voice doesn't match the character..like if a male character is voiced by a female voice actor who can't make herself sound like a guy...so you end up with an adult male sounding like a girl lol

@xxevery9seconds87xx I love all the SM battles. But my favorite would have to be the showdown between Galaxia and Sailor Moon. Have you seen the very last season of Sailor Moon? They didn't liscene it over here in America for some reason. You can watch it on veoh; it's in Japanese with English subtitles. Hands down, Galaxia was the ultimate bitch in Sailor Moon. The battles scenes between her and the scouts were epic. She was just completely ruthless, more so than any SM villain.

And the only reason why people don't like American version of Japanese anime is because they edit things out. I highly doubt it's actually about the voice acting like people make it seem.

Their english voices are so much better than their Japanese voices. American voice actors have much more dimension and character. I don't connect with Japanese voice actors. All I hear is the same voice for every character in every anime I watch. It's completely annoying.

@milenna87 American voice actors have no emotion? Well how can you tell if there's emotion in the original Japanese version with Japanese voice actors? It may be a cultural thing (me being an American and you may be Asian; so I obviously prefer the American voice actors and you, the Japanese) or it may be a fandom thing (obsession with all things Japanese) which it probably is because I highly doubt you're Asian. Most people I've come across with similar comments turned out to be American.

@nohabody My interpretation ever since I was a kid was that their bond was so strong that she could sense their spirits cheering for her no matter how far away they were and their bond was strong enough to break the barriers of the Negaverse so that first she merely felt them beside her and then they actually were there beside her. Compared to them breaking the bonds of death to appear beside her, as the original implies, I think it's actually more plausible.

I always thought that since their powers were awakened by Queen Beryl's threat to the universe, once the threat was gone their powers went dormant again and any memories linked to those powers were suppressed along with them.

@inlovewithJLT Hmmm interesting idea and it works up until the second season where the extremely edited English version ends. Then it hits a bump since after they defeated the threat of the Doom Phantom they still retained their memory the following season.

@nohabody Each Scout Had died in their battle. Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, and Mars all died in that order. In order to kill the 5 DD girls so Sailor Moon could carry on to fight Beryl. Sailor Moon had been crying, and distraught at the loss of all of her friends. It was a really emotional scene, where she has her head in her knees and the spirits of the scouts come to try to help her. She makes it to Beryl and thinks of all the memories with her friends helping her gain more strength.
