I have been on beta glucan for 5 years now. Great stuff! Recently, I have added Cantavita, a timerelease antioxidant. I feel more energized. Being a cancer survivor, I have been on a high antioxidant diet and supplement.
Hello Mr. Lanigan, is it really imperative to take glucan on an empty stomach? My mom takes a lot of other supplements like grapeseed extract, genistein, and egcg. Can she take any of those in the morning along with glucan? She has other supps, we can't find any more spaces within the day to take them.
Most food supplement should be taken "with" food to maximize uptake. that being the case, taking my BG 30 minutes before the meal should not be a huge problem.
@ajlanigan I guess what I really wanted to know is that if she may take some supplements which also needed to be taken preprandial (like her EGCG, Vit C, or maybe genistein) without causing a lower uptake for BG. Can we take BG along with Vit. C or other supps before meals? Thanks!
@ajlanigan Wow OK Thanks!!!! What about an Adaptogen like Ashwagandha? OK as well? I read Vit C and BG work well together in some studies and C even increases EGCG uptake. That's great thank you!
Rely on MEDLINE for accurate information. According to the published studies on AHCC, the "low dose" starts at 50 mg / KG up to 1000 mg / KG. For a 150 lb person (about 68 KG) your minimum dose would be 3400 mg daily. Despite that the latest study showed "no effect on total NK cell cytotoxicity". Another human study had dosing @ 3000 mg daily to show "No significant differences in PHA, NK cell activity, and cytokine production" That's a lot of high priced powder for little result
@ajlanigan OMG Mr. aj lanigan. I found out that BG increases pulmonary inflammation. WTF! In one study, it also caused pulmonary hemorrhage. And in another study, "Zymosan treatment increased tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha, interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10, and IL-12p70 secretion in BALF on day 1. In summary, rats exposed to zymosan had an increase in acute inflammation, and the altered lymphocyte profiles were consistent with the findings of epidemiology studies."
Zymosan forced down wind pipe: Exp Lung Res. 2009 Sep;35(7):570-90. There are lots of studies like this. There is not much more relation to my product vs. zymosan than there is with going into a moldy basement, taking a deep breath. Zymosan is very dirty, ill-purified yeast cell wall. This is the inherent risk people take using glucan that is not very, very highly purified like mine. Mannans, as an example, are known to be hugely pro-inflammatory. Caveat Emptor - Do not snort dirty glucan
@ajlanigan What is your take on continual supplementation with BG? I mean has anyone considered whether in fact its a good idea to have your immunes system "charged up" continuously. Or should would it in fact be more beneficial to be rather taken periodically? PS Im a big TP fan and customer :)
I have thousands of customers who have taken my product on a daily basis since 1996. None have developed any condition that suggests that the product does anything but help them stay healthy. I would not use the term "charged up". BG is an immune modulator, therefore supporting a healthy immune system response and not causing any undesirable effects. This may not be true of all immune supplements including other glucans. Caveat Emptor re: untested and unproven compounds regardless the hype.
@ajlanigan Thank you. FWIW I take 3 Glucans (Transfer Point 500mg) per day in the morning for the last year and half and got 4 other people doing it too. Anecdotal but have only been sick once in 18 months - very unusual for me. Similar story with friends.
NK cells have a glucan receptor (CR3) on them. Work done by Drs. Vetvicka, Vetvickova, Ross, et al have been published demonstrating same. Re: the Lyme's, i am not familiar with specific research article, but there are many showing enhancement of antibiotics in general. It will not hurt to use the product for sure.
@ajlanigan Hi again, Mr. Lanigan. I'd like to know your thoughts on "EpiCor", it's another new rival that's been getting lots of market share. I couldn't determine the concentration of glucan in it. What do you think of this competitor? Thank you so much.
No stated "marker" to standardize. Hence no batch to batch quality. Fermented baker's yeast, so glucan would be that of non-purified yeast. Epicor has a lot of "stuff" in it. Epicor knows no other product that has so much "stuff" in it. Slurry of fermented yeast & tale of employees in vicinity causes remarkable health. As animal feed additive, they did not know then nor now do they attempt to explain mode of action. Digestive aid for animals becomes balancer and educator" for immune system!
@ajlanigan YES! Thank you, I knew it! The minute I read "proprietary blend" in their product information, I knew it was a bad sign. They try to monopolize a portion of the market by attempting to pseudo patent glucan. It's no different than Lipton marketing ice tea with "EGCG".
I have one more q if you don't mind sir.
Can Beta Glucan in huge doses in theory replace antibiotics? Can it treat various forms of UTI? I haven't googled it but thought I'd ask you first. THANK YOU!! I'll buy more soon
A dozen types of drugs that one might call "antibiotics" The mechanism of action of each is somewhat different but suffice it to say that they "try" to slow the replication of the bacteria (worthless for virus) None come close to the MOA for beta glucan. The glucan binds to the CR3 receptor on the surface of the immune cells and a cascade of well understood immune events may occur that the immune system self regulates. Stopping of overuse, misuse and abuse of antibiotics is already in play
Re: its MoA, will glucan not induce pus formation, how can one avoid that? Will proteolytic enzyme administration (e.g., chymotrypsin) thereby be necessary in debriding or "liquefying" pus?
No connection with bg MOA and pus. Not sure where you are going with the enzymes but I suppose proteolytic enzymes would help to digest/liquify pus. In most cases (splinter in the finger) its is sufficient to keep well cleaned and let the immune system and natural healing takes its course.
Yes, I guess I was probably meaning prevention of abscess formation produced by the antibodies.
Biothera is expanding way too quickly. Have you approached any angel investors interested sir? Does Biothera have monopoly of the mode of extraction done to produce pure isolated glucan (beige / tan powder) or do you have a similar process? I heard them suing other companies and won a few years back.
Lawsuits expensive.Mostly won or settled. Products sold under my name take a different market approach. I use only the very best of the best batches. Highest purity, highest potency and highest biological activity) What does not qualify for my use is sold under many other brands here or shipped overseas for redistribution. Companies not using my brand do not require the highest cut, particularly for foods, beverages, animal feeds, etc.) Juice/candy bars not often sought in cancer. Buy new book!
The so-called "medicinal mushrooms" of Asian origin have small amounts of various polysaccharide peptides, including these sorts of glucans. Some studies suggest that a diet with near-daily intake of such mushrooms in small amounts is suficient to reduce risk of a variety of cancers and other diseases.
Yes, the science is real enough. Polysaccharides will be to future medicine what antioxidants are (or should be) today.
All beta-glucans are not the same - check Wikipedia to identify the active ones, if you are buying them online.
Other potent polysaccharides are those found in Chinese fungi like Cordyceps, antiviral herbs like Astragalus, bacterial cell wall Del-immune V - elevate interferons, TNF, NK, macrophages, etc, work with mixed "triple" antioxidants against hepattitis C
"5. The TNF factor increased 10 times higher than the control group. Optimal doses of
100 mcg/ml creates 1.5 ng/ml of TNF compared to control (0.16ng/ml). Repeated
administration lead to an TNF increase of 20-25%." Quoted from the research seen on site. It appears lysed bugs in Del-Immune V set off inflammatory storm of TNF. Pumping inflammation may not serve in the long term and certainly should be avoided in the way of autoimmune issues. Foreign proteins often cause allergic responses.
Yes I think it would depend on the kind of symptoms you wanted to treat. However I also think that effect of TNF-a depends on location, and some cell types, eg tumours, are more vulnerable. Because HCV can inhibit the complement pathway some people get noticable relief from Del-immune V (not me tho); and bromelain raises TNF-a yet is overall antiinflammatory because of effects further down cascade. I prefer cordyceps because of variety of different benefits
It is really nice that the phagocytes know how to do this. Whether our product is taken orally or the large soluble molecule is injected, the phagocytes will still engulf, digest and then secrete just the right size molecule to activate the CR3 (glucan) receptor. Dr. Vetvicka @ the University of Louisville just completed another study that has been released (JANA2008) that states that multiple oral doses will provide the same level of immune response as an injected dose.
Mr Lanigan, has Beta Glucan ever prevented anyone with Acute Myeloid Leukemia to undergo bone marrow transplant? There's a currently ongoing project on utube and stikam on Michelle, please let her know about beta glucan! please search projectmichelle here on utube or her site ProjectMichelle com I want to introduce her to beta glucan Please save her please
@AnatomaniaK Yes it is phagocytized / phagocytosed within 3 days roughly and at day 5, the neutrophils are already armed with those "limbs" as receptors :D
The glucan receptor (CR3) is already on the neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, NK cells and eosinophils. The orally dosed insoluble glucan particles are phagocytosed (engulfed/eaten) by the cells in the gut's lymphoid tissue. They then digest and secrete a soluble glucan molecule that binds to those receptors all over the body, including the bone marrow. Once primed, vast numbers (which is dose dependent) will do what they need to do "more, better, faster". Book by Dr. Vetvicka explains all.
Hm - that's a rare one. I am not familiar with any specific research on this type tumor. Most busy with colorectal, breast, lung cancers, etc. As BG is a "non" specific immune modulator, I can think of no cancer that a person would not benefit from a more properly supported immune system.
Biothera's work came first. However, there were significant errors that needed to be addressed. Probably not noticable to the average viewer, a properly educated viewer know (a) phagocytes, like neutrophils do not bump into targets and destroy them (b)bacteria and virus are not the same size (c) phagocytosis "looks" different in general. I have made significant changes to better illustrate a slightly closer "reality" to the video. I hope you enjoy it.
C, you have a water soluble. Glucan from yeast, insoluble. The C for IV, Na ascorbate. Injectibles are controlled substances. Physicians may choose to mix their own injectible C, where doing same with the insoluble glucan could be dangerous to the patient. Injectible glucan broken down into a soluble is much more purified to be free of potential pyrogen or allergen. IND with the FDA is in place and human trials are underway. Repeated oral dosing have shown the same outcome. See JANA2008
